  1. Lots of businesses closed down here today due to fallen trees on power lines. I guess we got lucky at home, the power just flickered off and on a few times. Pretty cool and scary watching those trees burn last night. I was standing about 50 yards away when that transformer blew last night. I nearly shite my pants. ;D
  2. Here is a video released from ZPI'' Japan on doing general maintenance. The spinning reel portion is in the second half of the video. Friction Zero is great but needs to be applied frequently. ZPI'' General Reel Maintenance
  3. We've got some killer winds here right now. One of the neighbor's large pines broke and busted a power pole, sparks flying everywhere, transformer exploding. The tree caught on fire which started the other trees burning. It then started raining and put out the fire. The neighbors were the only ones to lose power for the time being. Pretty crazy here at the homestead this evening. My outdoor weather station is showing gusts in the 60 mph+ range right now.
  4. Don't be surprised if that thing gets swallowed when you drop it in a bed. A five pound female will inhale that bait.
  5. I think if everyone handles this thread in a civil manner and give opinions on why they do or do not bed fish it will be an interesting read. I have been around here long enough now to see that this usually doesn't happen. Do I bed fish...no The reason, I am no good at it. Besides, the main lake I fish on it's not an option most of the time. Most of the fish spawn in deeper water due to the terrain. I have caught a few while throwing jigs and other baits by getting too close to the nest, most of the time they are males. I don't look down on it or anyone that does it, it's just not my bag. I get more of a kick out of watching them guard the nest when I can see them. Some guys out there are great at bed fishing, I am not one of them. BTW...IBTL ;D
  6. Sometimes you get lucky on those handles, that is why I asked if they had rivets. Vientos are all riveted except for a very few. I got lucky and got one that had screws.
  7. Pretty good review of this hardbait with some video and 360 views thrown in. Still anxious to throw this thing in the spring. Mattlures Hard Bluegill
  8. Still around $2.00 a gallon here. I don't even bother getting mad anymore, it doesn't do any good. They are going to charge whatever they feel like they can get by with and I will continue to pay it because I have no other choice. I better stop, I'm starting to get mad again. >
  9. Nothing, it's just like driving your car to another state. Just make sure you have all your paperwork, insurance, and other things the DNR might check for.
  10. This is one thing I will never have to worry about again, unless I fish out of state. I got my lifetime license about 15 years ago when they were reasonable. I was able to get lifetime hunting, fishing, and trout fishing for $400.00. I think they are up around $1000.00 now depending what you get. :-/
  11. Uh Oh, something bad is gonna happen. Kent is calling Daiwa reels beautiful. Nice reel Rowland. Do the knobs have screws or are they rivets? If they have screws let me know and I will send you some bearings to put in those knobs.
  12. Looks like you had a fun time. BTW, thanks for the pic of the tackle porn
  13. I got choked I laughed so hard. A.J., I think you lost your man card on that one. lol ;D
  14. lol, this was funny.

Raul, just do what I do...nod and smile. It works about 95% of the time and covers most topics. It's that remaining 5% that really breaks it off in you.
  16. I like to watch them. Funny stuff. ;D

That is early. Getting any thunder showers by chance? They will gobble at any loud or unusual noise. I usually have about a dozen or so behind my house that start around the second week of March. Maybe they're in the "mood".
  18. I like that Alan Tani. His photos are always clear and very helpful. I have read a ton of his threads on reel maintenance. Even though I don't own a big saltwater casting reel, I like to look at his threads on those bad boys and see how complex they are inside. Some of them are pretty scary on the amount of parts they contain.
  19. Might finally get to see that Ito Steez after all. Patiently waiting...
  20. Very good job on the thread so far. I been wanting to do this but my picture taking skills suck. Maybe I'll put that new tripod to use and do one for Daiwa later on when I get finished with all these reels. Great pictures BTW.
  21. I like how you wrap the fore-grip in shrink wrap. I guess that's what it is? I have seen you do that to all your rods. From that color it looks like there may be an Alphas going on that rod.
  22. Man those are some big fish. I can dream...
  23. Jun at Japan Tackle is a great guy to deal with. If you order this weekend, he will probably have it to you before Thursday or Friday. I ordered a red Pixy last week over the weekend and had it by Thursday.
