  1. From the little bit I've been able to see, I completely agree! Excellent smallie river fishing with good largemouth opportunities also, and LOZ is famous. NC Raleigh area you have big bass bonanza on Shearon Harris, Jordan, Falls, etc. Any small pond or lake can sometimes hold giants. Where I was in NY, there were ponds that hardly anybody touched that held some of the most fun bass fishing I've had the pleasure of experiencing. No giants, but lots of decent fish. And upstate NY... good grief. Finger lakes, Oneida, St Lawrence, and on and on. Lots of opportunities where I've been! Thank you for this post; I feel blessed
  2. @TnRiver46 when I went fishing this past Sat, I threw a spinnerbait maybe 80% of the time. I came upon a pond that was beside the river I wanted to fish and noticed some great big fish jumping so of course I had to stay. It was dingy water and I only packed my river lures with me. I saw a fish swirl and miss my spinnerbait completely. So I spend forever throwing SBs, and then I spend the last 20% of my trip fishing the river with a shaky head and I catch a fish. So I skunked on SBs that day. I felt like you ? Also Im undecided on whether I want to continue fishing. My shoulder is giving me mixed feedback.
  3. This thread is getting too comfy. Here's some slipknot
  4. Dude that’s awesome. So they DO work! Lol. Hope you can catch many more Bango Blade?
  5. Tied on as well! At the moment I plan on trying to fish for a short while tomorrow for some river smallies Last time I was fishing was August 28 Good luck to you!
  6. Talking your typical skirted jigs? Or just plain jig heads?
  7. Spinnerbait good Chatterbait bad Struggle with spinnerbaits in hot water too. Middle of the summer is the hardest for me. I think I could get better by using faster spinnerbaits meant to run deeper in heat of summer.
  8. Thanks. The way shoulder is feeling, I will toss a line using a roll cast this Columbus weekend. I’ll just focus on improving my casting mechanics. Don’t really care as much about catching fish right now.
  9. First attempt at making kimbap, never made any kind of sushi before. I really messed up the first roll but these two turned out decently well. So good. I love Korean food so much
  10. Then start slow
  11. Hey y’all, Talk to me about good casting form. What it should look like on two specific casts: roll cast and sidearm cast. I’m particularly interested in what the off-hand should be doing on a two-handed sidearm, if the off-hand should even be involved. But interested also in what general proper mechanics look like for these casts. Can share videos, written description, whatever you like. I read through some old posts on this topic and they were helpful and I did catch a video by you @Glenn (thank you, it was helpful) but wanted to bring up the topic again not only for myself but for others… just so it is in discussion. With my bad shoulder I found out while throwing around in the backyard that a one arm roll cast with my elbow tucked tight to my side does not bother me very much. Is a proper roll cast one or two handed though? Look forward to reading your responses
  12. I very much like whiskey and bourbon but I drink them sparingly. Past weekend was the first time I had it in months. Season doesn’t matter to me.
  13. Really cool. Wish I was there to see it too! Much different than Maiden… I am digesting Slipknot’s 7th album recently released. Like some aspects… dislike some… overall so far I am not wholly disappointed. It’s heavy!
  14. I’m messin with ya ?
  15. Who are you?
  16. I hear ya. Couldn’t have fished at all this evening even if I wanted to and was healthy
  17. Not long enough, you throw. says Yoda
  18. I played a really clean Queen’s Gambit game, central variation. I know the opening really well and different ways to trap my opponent.
  19. Fav time to throw spinnerbaits would be prespawn or fall. I discovered that when shad are spawning, postspawn can be good also. I’ll throw spinnerbaits in winter and summer though, too. It’s truly an all-season bait. Compact spinnerbaits are just going to get more bites in relatively clear water, and this is more pronounced the clearer the water. Compact is “short-arm” + short wire distance from the head to bend. I find a white skirt or chartreuse and white skirt in water with good visibility (>3ft) is a little bold, but these are some of the most popular skirt colors. That being said, if I could only pick one skirt color, white would be it. The SV3 is a compact spinnerbait. My choice for a compact spinnerbait is Nichols 3/8oz and 1/2oz.
  20. Thanks. More serious approach… I agree. Past couple months have been an exercise in teaching me to make smarter decisions and take ownership. Moral of the story has been that everything I do matters. Good lessons for me
  21. This probably needs to be said to provide context. I’m military and have a process for medical care that I am somewhat still learning and am cooperating with.
  22. I’ve found I like gambler baits for punching… not because they necessarily catch more fish but because they make the body plenty thick to hold a flipping hook well. When punching I have no part of the hook exposed. The point and wire leading up to it are both completely buried. No ‘skin-hooking’
