  1. One of the exceptions to the Hildebrandts I bought was that I did buy some Wedge blades. I’m going back and forth on whether I want a bait like this to have the Hildebrandt or the Wedge and think I ought to try the wedge. One thing I noticed when throwing a wedge spinnerbait a while back is that they really run with considerably more water resistance and can make a spinnerbait more apt to rolling if the same size blade is used. But this is a 5/8oz head, heavy enough to carry this blade combo I think.
  2. Ain’t caught enough bass. I’m usually close enough.
  3. I’ll be waiting for when you post a photo of your new JDM Zillion on here in the next several days ?
  4. What do we need top pros for? We have @Deleted account. @Glenn Uhh I’d like to ask specific questions. Some sort of Q/A format. Maybe to keep it directed there could be a specific topic about the Q/A. Edit: Don’t know what the time demand for something like that would look like though. I think it might be harder for the pro to give thoughtful answers to every question asked rather than just to do a one-time 20min vid.
  5. Light stuff? iRod Harold’s Lone Star Special 12lb big game Heavy stuff? iRod 704C 15lb big game Easy
  6. Hey y’all, Curious about your thoughts on the merits of thin blades versus thick blades and shallow cup versus deep cup. Not a simple “which one is better?” but your thoughts on when one might work better be that fishing depth, season, interactions with the rest of the spinnerbait, whatever. I recently built spinnerbaits but forgot to consider this. Just used mostly Hildebrandts cuz I like em. Spinnerbait lovers…. Enjoy. Whatcha got?
  7. I used to set tension with not a lot of method to my madness. Just liked a loose fall for whatever bait I was using and a rough idea of what that loose fall is. I’ve been playing around with setting spool tension for “neutral” tension and like that too. Where there is no side to side play but no tightness either. I don’t think the tension setting is all that important. I do think that having brakes set higher is highly beneficial for skipping. G. Swindle in a vid says that tightening spool tension down tight can actually cause you to want to overthrow, and I tend to agree. The way I skip is just a low roll cast from kayak and I don’t throw terribly hard. I use my thumb very aggressively when skipping and try to predict what the bait is doing as it is skipping and adjust thumb pressure accordingly. Bottom line is my thumb control is much more aggressive than if I’m just casting.
  8. Tried something new this evening and really like how it turned out. Following recipes as usual. Chicken and mushroom bulgogi. the chickens, mushrooms, and onions mixed in soy sauce, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, and green onions prior to cooking. And mixed with rice to top over lettuce served with a side of kimchi. Healthy! This make me happy
  9. I skipped a lot with that reel in the spring and some in summer. Whatever tension setting you like on your MGL, keep it there for skipping. Doesn’t need to change a bit. What I found does need to change… is the brakes. I tune my brakes up a couple or few points from where I normally cast at. I think my normal break setting with the MGL 150 is hovering around 3, but with skipping I have it at 5 or 4.5 usually and sometimes even 6. Disclaimer: I have a bad memory and it’s been a while since spring. My numbers might be +/- 1. The point is… I turn the brakes up slightly It is easy with the Curado MGL 150 and I ain’t kidding. It is a fine reel
  10. Sometimes I gotta take a moment and appreciate how many things seem to want me to have a bad day, and then I still go ahead and have a good day anyways.
  11. I like the 3/8oz pulsator frame very much. I’d recommend ordering what you want custom by sending Brooks Woodward an email detailing the spinnerbaits you want. You can pick between any of their skirt colors, head colors, blade colors, blade sizes, and blade combinations, with the exception that they will not build anything with a front Indiana because they do not carry that in their stock. You can always just ask for their standard size colorado/willow. I like a larger back blade than the one they outfit with, though. Here are a few pulsator frames that I either ordered custom or fashioned up myself. I use these for clear water. The clearest water I throw spinnerbaits in
  12. Nichols is what you want!
  13. I’ll look into it if I think I’ll be able to get some fishing in before season over. Still healing injury Thank you sir!
  14. Sweet! What rod ya get?
  15. Nice looking jig and nice fish!
  16. You shoulda seen where I was fishing on Badin this summer. You could go down the bank and it would be like this: water willows, dock, ramp, seawall, water willows, dock, dock, waterwillows, etc. Ridiculous.
  17. Lily pads. If I see em I'm fishing them. Nothing I can do about it
  18. @Big Rick and @A-Jay I certainly look forward to being able to lift again too! Being healthy is something to look forward to! It’s been a rough road healing this injury. I’ve had a lot of frustrations but my physical therapist this morning may have just found a key in what brings me relief. It feels much better now than it has in days. Now know different ways to strengthen and stretch this
  19. I think you can use any line combination and be fine. Unless it’s fluoro because it’s weak. Or unless it’s mono (nylon) because it stretches too much. Or unless it’s braid because there’s no stretch and you’ll bend your hooks out. Or unless it’s copoly because there’s still mono and fluoro involved. I hope this helps!
  20. Thanks. I think what happened is opponent did not take my LSB and instead took my hanging knight. Then I put rook to h4 at some point and opponent brought queen into game too early at one point. This game is not my proudest moment. Not sure what I was thinking. When I’ve played better, it’s when generally I don’t make any blunders and no more than 1 mistake, I position my pieces aimed toward the king or just generally developed, and I look for weaknesses to exploit. Not making any blunders or many mistakes though doesn’t mean that I won’t sacrifice pieces though, and I often do. It’s just that I hope my sacrifices are only minor inaccuracies or at the very best, brilliancies. I like making unpredictable moves because then the opponent has to recalculate everything on my terms. Sometimes I just play a “normal” chess game though. Yes it is!
  21. Hey y’all, I regret to inform you that it has taken me this long to realize that I spell y’all wrong. Please forgive me, if you can. Every post, for forever, I always said ya’ll. At this point do I just roll with it or do I confess my sins and come clean? I fear I will never be accepted by my Southern brethren. LrgmouthShad signing out for this evening ?
  22. @Deleted account when someone talks about BFS, techniques, patterns, big bass, or equipment
  23. Just spent 45 minutes parked in a parking lot singing to Koe Wetzel. #therapy
