Don't Believe Everything You Read/Hear
What a great post. Yeah man, I am pretty low on the totem pole on this site in terms of experience and age so I’m a learner who’s also here to share what little I’ve experienced. When I was first learning to fish, YouTube was a great resource. Because I can SEE what is happening. I picked up a lot of useless/wrong info there too. But it was an essential stepping stone. Nowadays, it’s time on the water and bassresource for me. I won’t have it any other way.

Am I In Tune?
Well I’m young myself and I think that’s pretty good! I think ‘being in tune’ with your lure is always good. I think also that being in tune with regards to feel is most important. I can see my spinnerbait a lot of the time and know what it’s doing just by my eyes. But if I set the hook on sight, I’ll risk missing that fish. If I set the hook on a solid feel, my odds are better. We’re so visually oriented nowadays. It’s nice that fishing teaches us that feel and hearing are so important as well.

*MVL* Most Valuable Lure for 2020?
Hey I loved this thread last year! Ok... my pick for 2021 is the Nichols Pulsator. Most versatile lure.... @roadwarrior called it, it's the rage tail menace. I used it on flipping/punching jigs and buzzbaits this year. Honorable mentions: scum frog trophy series, nichols reflex buzzbait, gambler burner worm, and the senko. Hottest lure for me right now: Booyah covert double indiana

Favorite spinnerbait weight and color
Still experimenting so much with this. 3/8oz probably Color.... white with silver scale, blue glimmer, solid chartreuse. My favorite of all might be Nichols' silver flash: Allen I'd like to know your favorite colors as well P.S sorry if you got notified more than once. Tech issues

Sand bar bass
I dunno. But I just remembered that the first truly big fish story I had (the sad kind though where she jumps off) was the result of throwing a shallow diving jerkbait around a sandy flat. It made no sense to me why the fish was there upon reflection but at that point in time I was just guilty of throwing aimlessly around. Now a sand bar seems different than a sandy flat. But anyways, maybe there's an answer to both of our queries. I haven't hooked one that big in a while. Maybe I should go back to throwing aimlessly around ?

Sharp hooks ?
Some of the things Bill Murphy did according to his book seemed a little overboard to me, but they sure worked for him! I won't ever disrespect the hustle
-
Sharp hooks ?
And thats okay brother ?. Seems like we have different methods of testing. Yours does seem very interesting and much more intricate than mine ?

Sharp hooks ?
What do you mean by cutting edge? Aside though, I gotta agree with @WRB on Owner and Gamakatsu setting the standard for sharpness. I fingernail test just about every hook I use. Of the ones I have when I tested them out of the package, Mustad meets it sometimes, but Gamakatsu and Owner meet it just about every time. They are really darn sharp. Fingernail test isnt always a criteria for using the hook, but if it's a spinnerbait and it doesn't pass, I fix that. But Mustad does make good hooks. Owner and Gamakatsu just seem like they are on another level of sticky

Dick’s sporting goods, Keitech, and Googan
I ain't. Dick's is it for here, that's why I had a thread about picking up essentials from Dick's ?. Didn't realize how that mighta sounded when I wrote it. Back home...... ?. Got one tackle shop that's got just about everything from 1960 and beyond. Great business. A little pricey, but they know their stuff and have everything.

Cool Customization - Zorro
hey ya’ll, The other day I was on the extension of the Zorro website for purchasing their lures, falling water outdoors, and I was just browsing the bango blade spinnerbait and seeing the different combinations you could make. Take a look into that if you are interested in making something a little different! I was surprised that they offered Indiana blades for both the front and back blades, as well as different painted blade colors. Lots of skirt colors and overall selection, along with the aggravator spinnerbaits. Plus Zorro’s come with sampo swivels. im just sayin, I don’t think you can go wrong ?

I got a smallmouth! *Does a happy dance*. That one's the second photo. These pictures are from the past two days. I fished Lake Otisco, one of the finger lakes, for the first time and that was a lot of fun. Very beautiful countryside and green water. Nothing too crazy over the past couple days but I'm always happy to be out there. I really don't know when I'll stop throwing spinnerbaits.

Zoom Baits
Gosh, anything is good. Speed worm is my favorite and the one that I still use. When I used them, z-craw as a jig trailer and z hog as Texas rig/jig trailer were really effective, especially in summertime.

How fast can you reel ?
That is too cool. but in response to thread, idk. I hardly ever reel fast. Wait are you for real?

On Oneida :)
I still have to make it onto Oneida. Been really windy past two days so I’ve went other places. The place I want to go on Oneida is a long paddle for me and in the wind, it could be 2 hours or more. Tomorrow looks like it could be the day ?. Otherwise, I posted results of my first day in the catch pics thread and about to post the second if I don’t head back out. Four fish both days

Wow. I really don’t like strong wind. I had to go to plan c today. Oneida was far too windy for me in the kayak so later in the day I picked up and went to a random smaller reservoir I’ve never been to based on some quick research. Was still quite windy there but at least bearable. Eeked out four bass, three on spinnerbaits. One on a swimbait not shown. One pic sideways ?. I still haven’t figured out the trick to uploading via phone. Any tips welcome.

On Oneida :)
Well, bad news. Don’t think it’s gonna be a good day for me to smallmouth fish. I saw it was going to be windy, but it’s already gusting out here and probably a little much for my kayak given the amount I had planned on paddling. Going to switch gears and do some largemouth fishing in the calmer bays and shallows. May Use one of the islands as cover from the wind. oh well ☹️

On Oneida :)
Hey ya’ll, morning update before I go fishing. I’m doing something a little bit different this weekend. On Oneida Lake again and I’ll be trying to catch some smallmouth (once again). I am quite bad at catching these bronzeback devils but @J Francho gave me some tips specific to Oneida so I think that will hopefully save me. I’m excited for some smallmouth fishing! This is my last fishing weekend before I am going to be unable to fish for a couple weeks for personal reasons so I’m fishing hard! good luck to y’all fishing Columbus weekend
