  1. Does the reel have centrifical braks on metal posts? (Like the early ones did). I would take a close look at the brake race (brass ring on palming side plate) for grooves and any damaged brake blocks. If you see them and the brake blocks sit on a metal post I'll bet that the post is lose and on casting is forceing it against the race and causing a rub..When you crank the pin is still rubbing. Won't hurt to check... Just my .02¢ Tight Lines!
  2. Hey Hootie, Just go ahead and stretch it a couple mm and it will be good... I do it on my greenies all the time..... Tight LInes!

  4. Need a little more info such as, model # and series...(ie Chronarch 100B).. Tight Lines!
  5. A 2 second dunk won't do anything to the reel.... You would only need attention if the reel laid on lake bottom for a period of time...... If your worried about it and know how then service the reel, otherwise fish it and when needed service the reel... Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  6. I have never removed anything from a bearing pack. They get soaked for an hour and then blown dry w/60psi air blast, then a second/last soak of 10min. Tight Lines!
  7. Perrrrfact out of the box...Really? Having bad dreams aren't we. Nothing in fishing tackle is guarrenteed to be PERFACT out of the box. It's probably a spool rub........ Has anyone thought about the adjustment shims on the spool axel that sets the oscilation deepth of the spool/s.. Tight Lines!

  9. Jumping Ship Sorry Abu.....You didn't jump ship, actually Abu jumped ship when they went with Pure Fishing. From Sweedish built and quality, to Chines built with crap..... Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  10. Some really BAD guessing going on here.... BassAssassins14 again send it in and all guessing stops..... Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  11. X2 Don't waste any more time send it in!
  12. BassAssassins14I would send it in.. From my experiences I would suggest looking at the centrifical brake block pins. In some Shimano' with the metal pins that the blocks slide on will come lose and try to move when the spool is turning. The way to check is looking at the brake race you will see a thin groove from the pin. Send it in... Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  13. Might try looking at this thread.. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/27739-older-shimano-bantams-from-the-80s/ Tight Lines!
  14. Yup the Calcutta 100B has a max drag pressure of 9.5lbs, most Abu rounds run max 8.0 - 9.0lbs of pressure.. Carbontex pad upgrades, fresh drag spring washers, can bring pressures of 10 - 11lbs. Just my .02¢
  15. X2 To bad the D series reels were discontinued as fast they were introduced....
  16. Palming side bearing, cast control bearing, and behind the engagement pin (shaft support bearing) on some... Polish brake race, inside pinion gear, spool shaft (if one peice) and ends, shims,....
  17. Name Brands... In 28yrs of servicing I have found, (House or Re-brands) have very little if any factory support........ Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  18. Sounds like your talking about the handle collar or the click leaf spring holder...
  19. Every reel I own.. As stated if they hadn't earned the place I wouldn't use them...
  20. bassassasin1 Most spinning reels are sealed better than their BC counterparts. As Mike stated, if you only spilled on the outside and they weren't saturated with soda, then an outside rinse with fresh water and wipe down. The reels are not going to wear out from it. It is more sticky than caustic to any of the reels parts.. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
  21. X2... Ops I meant Ditto..... MacP: Good to know! Do you know when they quit making everything there? Just as soon as they wound up under the Pure Fishing umbrella.... If the reel doesn't carry the emblem it isn't made in Sweden, Just the upper end rounds (C series and up) still carry the emblem. Most of the lawer end rounds carry a BCX designator they are the junk form asia.....
