Selecting a new spinning reel
Get a pflueger president or a Guide Series/Gander Mountain GST series reel. I have two of these and they have been the best spinning reels I have ever used.

Trolling motor ?
I absolutely love my Minn Kota Powerdrive wireless trolling motor. I guess i'm one of the few on here that actually like them. The foot control is alot more comfortable to me than the cable steer foot controls.

How bad will my boat hurt me?
I also used a large cooler for a few years and had no problems. Just be sure to change the water at least once an hour, run your aerator all the time, use a livewell additive. Oh ya, and watch when you open the lid I also used to use a cooler for a livewell and never killed a fish, the fish were usually too lively. I never changed the water just had two battery powered livewells with the blue stone on the end and would turn them on when I caught the first fish. Those things would run for like 3 tournaments before I needed new batteries.

Bass Mike-Puter Question
I'm assuming you are are refering to a desktop computer. Open up the computer and clean all the dust you can out of the computer. Use a vacuum with an attachment and some type of blower to blow the remaining junk out of the computer. Make sure all the heat sinks are clean. If your computer is in a enclosed computer desk it may not have enough air flow to completely cool the system. I would be more worried about the processor getting hot than the hard drives. The hard drives are more resistant to heat than the processor. If you are talking about a laptop let me know.

BPS Fathers Day Sale - BPS Pro Qualifier
nope , the ''johnny morris signature series'' bait cast real has the duralumin gears , i'm looking at the 2009 master catalog . I retract that statement, but I would have swore that the pro qualifier was listed as having duralumin gears because I remember flipping to the extreme's to see if they also had the duralumin gears.

BPS Fathers Day Sale - BPS Pro Qualifier
Yes they advertised it as a special make up but also stated it was a $200 combo but the original price tag on the rod/reel combo was $119.99 marked down to $99.94.

BPS Fathers Day Sale - BPS Pro Qualifier
in the 2009 catalog they had the pro qualifiers listed as having duralumin gears.

BPS Fathers Day Sale - BPS Pro Qualifier
The new 09 pro qualifiers that cost $100 have duralumin gears. The misleading part is it is advertised as a $200 combo for $100 but the price tag on the rod/reel combo is 119.95

BPS Fathers Day Sale - BPS Pro Qualifier
It is misleading any way you look at it. The reel was very nice and on par with the "Real" Pro Qualifier the problem is with the rod. The ad specifically states $200 value which it is not. The price tag on the Rod/Reel Combo clearly stated $119.95 marked down to $99.94. That is not a $100 rod. Like the original price tag stated it is maybe a $30 rod.

6/6/09 Tournament
We had a tournament this weekend on the St. Johns River out of Mullet Lake Park in Sanford/Osteen, FL. The river is fairly high right now from all the rain we have had in the past month. The river is up about 3 feet still and the stream velocity is around 1 foot per second. We decided to fish a small cut off of the river where water was flowing very fast because it was on the opposite side of a bend in the river. The canal is normally 3 to 4 feet deep with large marsh flats on each side. The fish were sitting in the brush in the marsh flats just out of the flowing water. We caught one keeper first thing in the morning that barely went 14". We continued fishing any opening in the marsh brush just outside the flowing water. We ended up landing 2 more keepers one 15" and one 16" then as soon as the sun poked out through the clouds the bite vanished and then the storms started rolling in. A pretty strong thunder storm was heading our way so we decided to head back to the ramp and wait it out under a pavilion. After about 20 minutes of waiting it out we decided to head back. We were only out for about another 30 minutes before the second wave of storms started rolling in. So we headed back to the ramp and waited it out for about 45 minutes before heading back out for about 20 minutes before weigh in. We ended up with about 5.5lbs and in 4th place out of 12 boats. First place had somewhere around 15.5lbs second 8.5lbs and third 5.83lbs. It ended up being a pretty good day.

One click away BPS extreme
Yes, but it's no big deal. Next year you can throw the BPS reel away and buy a Shimano Citica or save a little more money and pick up a Curado. : Defenitely not making a mistake. I have around 6 BPS Extreme Reels, actually that is almost the reel I fish and I have never had a problem with any of them. I have had one for 5+ years and it performs like new.

BPS Fathers Day Sale - BPS Pro Qualifier
the reel seemed to be exactly like the real pro qualifier but the rod was crap. The reel was sweet.

BPS Fathers Day Sale - BPS Pro Qualifier
I didn't go specifically to buy the combo but figured I would check it out.

BPS Fathers Day Sale - BPS Pro Qualifier
If you are thinking about driving to BPS to buy one of these, save your gas. This was the heaviest rod I have ever picked up and it wasn't the real Pro Qualifier rod and reel. While the reel was very nice it was the tournament edition what ever that means, but the rod was horrible. It felt ok action wise but weighed a ton. I never really thought I cared how much a rod and reel combo weighed until I picked this combo up. BPS also had the real Pro Qualifier combos set up in the store and were a lot lighter than the cheap tournament series pro qualifier combo. The price was very interesting. $100 for a pro qualifier combo. I really wanted to buy one of these but the weight ended up being a big issue. Save your time if you planned to go buy one of these.

Can my Geenoe + Trolling Motor go on Stickmarsh/Farm 13??
I had a very humbling experience on the Marsh a few years ago and would never take a canoe out on the lake unless I was 100% sure that the winds weren't going to pick up. We were caught in 3 footers craching into the side of our boat trying to get back to the ramp going down the canal and it was 34 degrees outside.

cell phone got a warshin, lost cause?
the bag of rice trick works really well. Do it at least two times to make sure it is completely dry. The water doesn't hurt the phone it is the current when you try to turn the phone on when there is water on the board that hurts the device. A device that works when wet will eventually corrode from having water touching metal parts and eventually fail. Make sure you get it completely dry.
