Buying a Used Vehicle
I have always used consumer reports for certain things and although they aren't always right the rating I believe come from users. You have to remember that when buying a used car even if you buy one with a great reliability rating you could still get junk. I have had some pretty good success with buying used vehicles in the past. Do your research and take the advice of other in to account but always get a vehicle checked out by a local mechanic.

Buying a Used Vehicle
See if your school library has Consumer Reports and find the yearly vehicle guide and check their ratings for reliability and price.

advice on this (my first) jon boat
Honestly save your money and look for something nicer. Those Trolling Motors although they work are very old and you will have trouble finding parts for them if something should happen to break on them. Also the boat doesn't look to be in very good shape. Keeping looking and you will find a good deal.

Bass Resource forum slow to load
It has been slow for me too and I think for a lot of other people because I have been seeing a lot of double posts lately. It seems to load faster if you click the link wait 5 seconds and then click the link again. I am running a fresh install of Windows 7 Premium and Firefox 3.5.7. Same issues with IE8.

Berkley Amp Rods...
They are very nice rods for the money. My buddy has a 7' Spinning Rod and yes the lock ring is very cheap, but all of Berkley's lock rings are cheap and they will break. I have a few lightning rods and I have to put a piece of electrical tape around the lock ring before tightening it up on the reel. I cannot comment on the casting rods.

the hati quake
While I understand the severity of the problems with the quake in Haiti and and understand people helping, but shouldn't the people of USA try to help their own first. There are hundreds of thousands of people loosing their homes and are really struggling to provide food and medical care for their families.

Hydrofoil, huge improvement.
I have had some performance issues with my 2004 Carolina Skiff J16. It took a long time to plane and would hardly plane with a full rear livewell. I have distributed weight the best I could but nothing really helped all that much except having my fishing partner move forward a little while trying to get up on plane and then once the boat was on plane he could sit back down. I installed a The Original Doel-Fin Hydrofoil from DAVIS INSTRUMENTS. This thing made a huge improvement in plane out time. It took probaly a quarter of the time if not less to plane out. It was really easy to install and took only about 15 minutes. I am not affiliated with Davis Instruments just a very satisfied customer. I honestly didn't think this thing could make this much difference. I didn't get a chance to test turning or speed but will once the weather warms up a bit and I get more time behind the wheel.

Need a new alarm clock....
I don't think a special alarm clock is going to help you at all because you already said you get up to shut them off. So instead of laying back down when you shut them off just stay up.

fitting a jon boat in the bed of a truck
Put the boat in transom first and if you are using a trolling motor put the battery in the rear of the boat and then use some type of strap to secure the boat to the bed of your truck. You really don't need much holding the jon boat in the bed of your truck. My buddy puts his 12' jon boat in the bed of his long bed without even strapping it down. He just puts his battery in the rear of his jon and takes off.

Okeechobee
Me personally I would go to Stick Marsh/Farm 13. There are monster bass in that impoundment. I have personally seen them myself.

My Vietnam River boat
I can't believe I just wasted 8 minutes of my life on that video. It had nothing to do with Bass Fishing.

My new boat!!!
Nice looking boat. I can't help but wonder where the steering wheel is on this boat. It doesn't look like a transom steer and I can't see the stick steer controls.

Is it just me or does the house behind the boat look like it is sliding down a hill? By the way, nice looking boat.
