My Problem With YouTube Fishing Videos...
Informative, but not a snooze fest. No over the top antics. No music, especially the corny AI sounding type like it's an 80s instructional video for warehouse employment. A good mix of fishing and teaching.

A Karen, Ken, Crank, or Hooligan story?
If my teenage son is doing donuts in a boat with his idiot friends, failing to listen to adults, and an adult hits my kid in the head with a rock I'm blowing the boat and the man up (exaggeration). Talk about big yikes. Talk about felony. My idiot son is working to pay for any damages and is in serious trouble if it was me, but a rock to the head? At the very least I'm getting revenge, an eye for an eye.

How many days did you fish last year?
I'd say I go fishing about 50 times a year.

Which rod(s) pull (s) double duty?
I don't own a single rod that only performs one duty, so all of them.

Who is the biggest bait monkey here
A-Jay could buy Michigan if he sold his baits so I'm voting him

Old fishing holes that are off limits anymore
You shouldn't break the law. You shouldn't break the law. You shouldn't break the law. But everything is bought up and posted anymore, so I don't fault people or care that they ignore signs. Soon enough you'll need a boat to bass fish because public lakes with no shoreline is all the future holds at this rate.

how long till bass naturally inhabit a man made pond?
Weird Obama era thread to bump

Why does purchasing a new rod excite me more than a new reel?
Getting more excited over the more important things seems natural to me.

Are there too many options?
This is a big world and a lot people want a slice of the pie $$$$$ The flood stops when the buyers make it stop, so never My suggestion is to buy what you like and what works for you. I only buy Dobyns rods and Shimano and Abu reels. My lure selection is so particular that I never stray (years of experience learning what I like and what works for me).

Co-polymer vs flouro.
4lb YZH. Its real strength is 7.5lbs. handles very well on spinning gear.

74,000 Members!
A lot of people who need to stop buying out all my baits and fishing all my spots ?? as an entitled millennial I will not stand for it.

Shimano stuff
The SLX variations are the best bargains in the game, in my opinion. Most of my reels are XTs or Abu Max X. After so many different reels over the years these are what I've nailed down as the best bang for my buck. In my house you'll find Dobyns Champion XPs mounted with SLX XTs and Furys mounted with Max Xs.

Smallmouth excrete a chemical from their skin that smells like crawfish ?
It's the line next to the anal fin without a description. Anal fin area gives it away. Or something...

Looking back at the 2022 season, what is one thing you want to brag about?
I don't have anything to brag about, but I have something I'm proud of. I caught a lot of big bass on spinnerbaits in an era in which a lot of people struggle with a spinnerbait. I've been loving this bait for the past 3 seasons now, and each season I'm getting better and better with it. It has become my favorite lure. I've learned all sorts of neat tricks. I feel a spinnerbait is truly an extension of me when I'm using it.

Any thoughts?
The Dobyns reels are fanboy novelty items made to match the rods and I AM HERE FOR IT

Current rod and reel grouping
I'm constantly buying and selling gear, but right now almost all my combos are Dobyns Fury rods with Abu Garcia Max X (new Black Max) reels and Dobyns Champion XP rods with Shimano SLX XT reels. There's almost no difference between the Fury/Max and Champ/SLX combos, which says a lot about how good the Fury still is, how the Champ, while excellent, probably isn't worth the price tag, and how great of a job Abu still does in the sub $80 range (but remains lackluster at $100 and above imo).

Possible rod damage?
If it doesn't come to me brand new in reasonably perfect condition, it gets returned until they get it right. Nobody would purposefully buy that rod, so don't feel bad at all.

Oh my, what do I do???
It's too cheap for me not to have. I'm gonna keep collecting the mags for no reason whatsoever.

I can't delete photos.
Yeah I don't care if my fish gets used in some online nature mag in the future or something

I can't delete photos.
Use postimages.org to never deal with this again

You Already Know
I haven't fished since fall, but where I'm at in Indiana we still have completely open water (stunning really), so I'm going Wednesday on a very stable day 47* high/42* low, 6mph winds, overcast skies. It looks to be possibly my best shot to touch a bass before March or April. I'm keeping it very simple. Spinnerbaits, Jerkbaits, and Senkos. Starting with a Pearl 110 and a finesse War Eagle. I'll move to Senkos if these fail. I'm bank fishing as well. I might take a chair and just sit and cast when I get tired and keep at it all day. 6 acre pond.

Do you agree with this quote?
Not at all. You can enjoy nature without fishing. I do. You can be on the water without fishing. I do it. You can collect lures you never plan to throw. I do it. I fish to catch fish. If I wanted to enjoy nature, I'd go on a hike, I'd travel, I'd get out on a pontoon boat, etc. When I'm fishing, I want to catch fish. That's the goal. The nature part is like 4th of July fireworks as an adult - not nearly as exciting, been there, done that, seen that countless times... I go to the 4th festivities for the fun of the festivities, not to see fireworks - just like I fish to catch fish, not to see nature. Nature and fireworks is just a neat benefit, a bonus.
