  1. Have you tried it yet? My bass season doesn’t open until 3rd Saturday in June. I have a few months
  2. I didn’t. I passed on it. Was just thinking about it the other day though. Maybe this is a sign. LoL
  3. Depends on the day. Sometimes 5hrs. LoL. I run freight trains so when I’m away from home I’m at a hotel or a bunkhouse. My only transportation away from home is a taxi to and from the hotel.
  4. Some guy locally has been trying to sell a near mint TD Fuego for the past 3 years. It hasn’t sold yet so either it’s not as good as he says or people locally just don’t know. I came close to buying it but couldn’t make up arrangements to meet up. He lives closer to my work but I don’t have transportation when I’m at work and I don’t really want to drive 3.5hrs away for a reel when the guy lives 10 mins from work. Lol. Maybe I’ll meet up with the guy in the spring if it’s still available.
  5. love those TD Zillion. Still use one for frogging. It’s a tank. I still need to try one of those TD Fuego!
  6. That’s all that matters. What feels right to fish with. Also I’m the same way… “$20 shipping!? No way! I’ll spend a $100 to save shipping.” Can’t justify paying for shipping. Lol.
  7. Must of missed that when I watched the video. Ha. By pics it looks similar.
  8. Looks pretty similar frame if not the same frame. You’re just getting mgl 3 spool and silent tune. The current slx mgl 70 is a great reel. I don’t see it being much of an upgrade. If you want an upgrade go for the jdm slx dc xt. Different frame for the slx. It’s next level slx. Has the mgl 3. Idc5 brakes and a joy to fish. Nice small compact reel. I like it as much as my 21 zillion sv.
  9. I came here hoping to hear about using 1lbs fluorocarbon for monster bass. I was mistaken. LoL. Good thread. I just started using fluorocarbon end of last season. Lots of good suggestions
  10. You should see the photos I have. Sometimes I backlash just for fun. LoL
  11. it’s something man. The craftsmanship is so nice. It’s like using art to fish. LoL. That’s why it intrigued me. The short rod. Seemed like it would be something special. And it was $200cdn shipped. (Import fees was around $16cdn )So around $145-150 USD. Hard to pass up on that price.
  12. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll give that a whirl. There is a small creek around the corner from me that feeds into the river that contains mainly smallies. I’ll have to take a hike once bass opens up here. I tried the dark sleeper as a swimbait and as a jig. The rivers here are loaded with gobies so maybe I’m not working it too life like Rock magnet it sure is. I’ve hooked into tons of rocks. LoL
  13. Never picked up another lews reel after those back lashes. LoL. They definitely were go home days. In all fairness I used to fish between jobs while working if I passed ponds and rivers. LoL. So I’m sure I had to go back to work anyways.
  14. Soooooooo…… I ended up buying this end of last season just because I found it new on a Japan site for $200 shipped. Brand new just didn’t have the Megabass rod sleeve. Really nice rod. The craftsmanship is just great. Anyways it’s the “Go-Ten” model (5’10, 1/4 - 3/4oz). I know it’s a niche rod for close quarters fishing jigs. I used it once when I got it. (Still has plastic on the cork. LoL) Tried a dark sleeper but I’ll be damned if I can catch anything in those dark sleepers. Anyways I was just curious what techniques others would use this for. I did get a suggestion of pop max which I haven’t tried yet.
  15. Keep meaning to try one of these. They look great.
  16. Mail day! Decided to call st croix last week and upgrade my avid x 66MF to a LTB 68MXF (jerkbait). Looks and feels great. Thinking I’ll pair it up with a tatula 80 or tatula sv103. Now gotta wait for the snow to go. LoL
  17. Yeah. Those handles look a little odd. Being open ended. Hrmmm…
  18. Maybe I’ll have to try an expride again. I used to have a 7’2 MH. Was not a fan of it. Maybe I expected more from all the hype. What model do you recommend?
  19. Yeah maybe it’s googan baits he invested in. And then joined favorite and was using their rods and then googans left them. 🤷🏻‍♂️. I knew he was using Shimano reels. I’m behind in times. Oh well.. His signature series with Okuma are still some of my favourite rods to this day! Either way all the best to him with Lews.
  20. Oh nice. I don’t use Lews gear but good for Scott. So it’s rods and reels? He left Favorite? Did he have ownership in favorite as well or was just on the pro staff?
  21. I second that Orochi xx perfect pitch. Such an awesome rod. It’s heavier but doesn’t feel heavier because it balances so well.
  22. That ain’t a bad idea. And yeah it’s once per rod. That’s why they make you send back the rod that is being replace. At least when I used the program that’s what they did. They’ll give you 60 days to return it then if not received they’ll charge you the full price of the rod on your CC. I used to get older Shimano rod models that people were selling cheap and then just upgrade through Shimano. Saved a few bucks and got a new rod. No complaints there.
