it’s a long road of happiness and misery. Happy you have a zillion but miserable that you need to buy more. I’ve travelled this road. I have 5 zillions now and really it isn’t necessary.

i just got a PX-Type R a few weeks ago. Really looking forward to trying it out What do you use yours for? And what rod?

Owned 2 Tatula LTs (I know, not the MQ) in a 2000 and 2500 size. I no longer have them and now have 4 Stradic FLs. I think daiwa makes the better baitcaster and Shimano the better spinning reel. I never quite enjoyed the daiwa spinning reels I’ve had. Either way I’m sure you’ll be happy with whichever you get. All personal preference.

My “Cadillac” reel is a Steez A2. Is it worth it over a ‘21 Zillion SV? Probably not but I know I won’t buy another reel like that and I’m ok with the Zillion SV being as high as I go. After all I’m ok driving my Mazda 3 (zillion sv is definitely not a Mazda 3) to work and only need my one Cadillac to go from A to B to C.

sorry I meant first impressions out of the box. Curious how they’ll do for a full season. I enjoy the tatula 80. It’s a small tank but I feel this tat 100 will be the best all around reel due to the size. So it closer to the tatula elite/sv 103 frame size?

ordering mine next week. What’s your first impressions? I do have zillions and steez and a tatula 80 to compare too but this tatula has peaked my interest now with the hyper drive. Once you go hyper drive. Nothing else is good enough. LoL

really surprised you’ve had bad customer service with st croix. The few times I’ve contacted them for warranty/out of warranty (all my fault) they’ve always been a delight to chat with and always go above and beyond. I’ve always thought st croix should teach companies about customer service. Even calling them to ask questions they’ve been quick to answer and a pleasure to deal with. 🤷🏻‍♂️ anyways I got the jerkbait rod that I’m looking forward to using when the ice melts.

Go for the better deal. You won’t be disappointed either way. Unless your metanium gears get Geary.

definitely worth the $50 price difference. The upgrades are 100% noticeable. You won’t be disappointed when you get one. I don’t think the upgrades from older slx mgl 70 to new one will be as noticeable as one would hope. But I haven’t tried it of course. Just a hunch. Had Shimano released the new slx mgl 70 the same as the slx dc xt minus the dc braking. I’d be all over that.

New to me… picked up this little fella recently

Just picked up a fate black brand new for $31 shipped. I’ll take my chances for that right now. Should enjoy this set up then I’ll probably look into a p5 or orochi x10 down the road. who bought 13 fishing? Did rapala buy them out or do they still own 49% of it (I think that’s how much they owned).

I’ll give that a look. I’m in Canada so depends what it costs after conversion.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I don’t think it’s easy to find Phenix Rods in Canada but I’ll definitely give them a look. I’ll also check out the curado Rod. I heard the new ones are good rods. I was thinking 1/8-1/2 range. Doesn’t need to be that low but at least nothing over 1/2. I did come across a 13 fishing fate black 6’10 ML on sale locally. I’ll have to look into that as well. Anyone have feed back on that rod?

I use spinning rod for light lures but looking for suggestions on a ML or M casting rod to toss more finesse baits. Thinking of Evergreen Gizmos, small poppers, small jerkbaits, weightless plastics, ned rigs etc…. Plan to pair it up with a Daiwa PX Type-R using 6-8lbs mono most likely.

I ended up getting a legend tournament bass 68mxf instead of the victory. Really looking forward to trying that out. I’ll check out the expride. I used to have a 6’10 M poison adrena gen 1. Regret parting with that one. I’d imagine the expride is similar to that?
