I caught a big un on cut bait in the middle of the night. Bad thing was that my lantern had run out of fuel and I was keeping him at rod’s length while he hissed and lunged at me in the dark. Still got most of my fingers so it worked out pretty well.

My kids used to come fishing with me all the time. We would fish late into the night with a green light dangling off the edge of the dock , laughing and telling stories. Those are great memories. Now they are teenagers and wouldn’t be caught dead fishing with the old man. Teenagers suck.

These are wimpy as a dish rag , but they work pretty good for crappie or bluegill. Trout too. The reels are trash though. I got mine on sale for 10$ and have actually got my money’s worth and then some.

Yep that’s the one. I’ve got a few of the black and gold HPs but they feel different somehow. Not bad , just different.

I have three of the Hank Parker rods. They were 29$ A couple of years ago, when the colors were silver and black. They’re my favorite cheap rod. One I don’t hear a lot about is the Daiwa Laguna . It’s not as pretty as the Airdx , but it’s light and comfortable with decent sensitivity.

A couple of years ago I read a post wherein WRB said that nylon monofilament has superior knot strength . That stuck with me. Edit. I just saw his post above.

My largemouth peanut butter is 9lbs and I caught it on a weightless purple worm using a light wire 3/0 offset worm hook tied to 8# mono spooled on a 55$ Lews ML combo I bought at WalMart. Maybe it was 10# mono. Who cares.
