He drives my kids nuts. When I start watching one of his videos they start hollering wooo and go fishing when you can from their rooms.

Which did you try? Fishing in the winter or growing a garden in your nose?

I normally fish quite a bit in the winter because of the reasons TnRiver46 mentioned , but this year we’ve had freakishly strong winds. Every time I get a chance to go it’s 50 mph with so much dirt in the air you could plant a garden in my nose.

I got a Lightning spinning rod for Father’s Day three or four years ago. It’s a good one. I accidentally broke 2 inches off the tip with the car door and fixed it, now I like it even more. Weird

I’ve seen something pretty similar that was called the “ chicken rig “ . But I don’t think it had the hole in the screwlock for the hook to slide through.

If I’m by myself I will go ripping around, but most of my passengers don’t feel safe at 30 - 35 mph in my junky boat.

When I was taking you tube videos seriously about catching bass in winter and early spring my expectations were way too high. Every time I would come home and assume that I had done something wrong. I see what you are saying and I agree that a realistic expectation is important to beginning bass fishermen. I just try to keep my expectations lower than most .

Remember that skit on SNL ? I think it was called “ Lowered Expectations “. That’s me when it comes to fishing. A natural born pissamist. That way I’m never disappointed, and when I do accidentally catch a fish it’s a nice surprise!
