  1. I really only use white or a shade type color combo on the Super Flukes. I fish them as a walking the dog type but cadence varies depending on the bass' mood. Some of my special circumstances I break them out for is if its a topwater bite but they are holding very close to grass and I cant get them to hit a frog. I'll toss a weightless or really light belly weighted Fluke deep into the grass and twitch it out. I'll also do the same right when early morning topwater starts dying off and I'll let it sink about a foot and twitch it out of cover. If I add weight sometimes I'll switch it over to a paddletail fluke. Either way, they produce really really well.
  2. I was specifically told no fishing the 2 ponds I manage and no hunting the wooded property that I also manage. They knew before I even asked...less about me and more about the 250 other country boys who would be out there with me if they saw me doing either.
  3. Yes. Saw their last sale but they had no 110+1s in stock in any color I could use.
  4. Anyone have a good link or discount for Vision 110s? Particularly the 110 +1s? Seeing if there is anything out there or might just have to wait for TW's memorial day sale.
  5. Looks like I'm targeting spots for this State VS State thing 😂 Really nice fish.
  6. This is me. I can only back up a trailer while craned around looking backwards. At this point its as second nature to me as driving normally. There have been a handful of times where I couldnt do this ( really steep ramp where I lose sight) and had to use mirrors and its like I've never touched a trailer in my life.
  7. All fun and games until you get a practice plug whaled into the back of your head! I'm kidding but not at the same time, actually happened. Anytime I'm sitting in the boat pre-rigging my daughter wants to help and then shortly after she has her zebco in her hand doing practice casts. At 4 she casts better than her mother! I'll be taking her out myself this year for some bluegill and crappie. Soak it in, it really does fly by. Very exciting and sad all at once.
  8. They wont give you super powers but the cut all the sun glare off the water and make it easier to see. I wear them all the time but I make sure they are ANSI rated. I've had too many close calls with a jig or Trig flying past my head to want to risk an eye ball.
  9. Always seem Jordan produces big bass but also seen (not these forums) Jordan is tough to fish? Not afraid of a challenge but don't want to question my life either.
  10. I've only ever been to Harris once but I'm looking to plan a trip to one of these 3 lakes between now and mid May. For those of you who have fished one or all of them which would you peg as the better lake to hit in this timeframe? Any particular areas?
  11. went out Saturday and didnt see any fry swarms but water temps were 68 so I'm assuming were about the tail end of it.
  12. good...that URGENT bright red bar was giving me anxiety thinking I had something to do 😅
  13. Interesting. Going through some pictures a good portion of what I thought were spots are actually Alabama bass. With the only distinguishing feature being the end of the horizontal band a few can swing either way. Either way as far as I'm aware most lakes out east here have no limit on size or quantity for spots and they encourage us to eat them. As long as its not a LMB it doesnt really make a huge difference other than reporting in a new area. I believe they are further up the Tar into Nash county than the graph shows. I'm going to look at my pictures a bit harder but I'm fairly sure I've pulled them out of the Tar River Reservoir.
  14. @Darth-Baiter depends on the BBQ region. Eastern NC is vinegar based and I enjoy it much more than the ketchup based BBQ sauce smothered stuff from NY. I'm not a huge fan of mustard so I've stayed away from that. @Choporoz I can't throw a stick out here without hitting a BBQ joint 😂. Gotta come a little more south east in the state
  15. @Darth-Baiter that's some really nice presentation! I used to do a bunch of overnight oats and got creative with it but I havent done that in a while. Might need to pick it back up. @Jar11591 I havent had eggplant parm in a long time but thats making want to make some now.
  16. For "shallow" water I'll start with either a swim jig or bladed jig depending on water clarity and clouds. For "deep" water I'll use jerkbaits now. This is very general, if I have a good reason I'll sometimes start with a trig creature or worm but I find if I'm getting them to react to one of the above I've found either active fish or fish willing to hit a reaction bite. From there I adjust my approach.
  17. @TOXICthat's a nice smoke ring!
  18. Fixed this up today for Easter. My wife invited over a new friend and her Cop husband. With a move and trying to get through the academy they weren't able to get any deer so I broke out some backstrap for them. First time making venison bruschetta but it turned out extremely well. Caramelized onion Minced and cooked mushroom Blue cheese crumble Thinly sliced backstrap Blackberry preserve (any dark fruit) 3/4" sliced baguette Made it all in cast iron pans and tasted amazing. Going to be a staple for special events. -Caramelized the onions slowly in oil with a splash of whiskey. -browned the mushrooms in oil and againa splash of whiskey -seared the backstrap and finished it to 130 degrees in the oven and sliced thin. -cut the baguette and drizzled oil on it and toasted briefly. - assembled: baguette, venison, onion, mushroom, blue cheese, dab of blackberry preserves.
  19. Wow really sorry to be reading this. I hope you react to the treatment better than expected and at least get a bit more time. Plenty of stories of people going years longer than expected and I truly hope you are one of them.
  20. There is a reason I can count my friends on one hand and it seems you see why. I'm also they type of person who is completely content doing things myself and often prefer it, I can understand if you enjoy the company of others it being difficult. Blood relation can often be worse, they think because you are related there is a wider berth of "tolerance" and it can be infuriating. Sorry you are going through it but at the same time it can be very freeing once the band aid is ripped off.
  21. I always though the threadfin looked more dainty than the gizzard in our lakes here. Kind of a Filet Mignon vs Sirloin.
  22. I rotate between Talstar P and I think its Bifen? I put it 2 feet up on the foundation and a little on the ground before it as well as around any windows, crawls space vents and doors. Haven't had an issue with any spiders, ants, etc. in a few years. I'll mix up a batch in a sprayer and usually after 2 applications its out and I'll switch to the other one. Exterminator "friend" said they do that because certain bugs can grow a resistance if you use just one type all the time.
  23. On the plus side.... now she could be any size you want 😂 Jokes aside it sucks but you have the experience of it and that's priceless. Think of how many people who may never experience that even hunting them.
