  1. Just the opposite of a couple of you. I was all spinning until the arthritis in my knuckles got bad when casting heavy jigs and spinner baits, it’s actually pinching the line to the rod just before release that does it. i tried every which way to hold the rod, 1 finger over the reel, 2 finger, 3 finger, they’d all provide relief for a bit, but just a bit. Finally broke out the one baitcaster I had been loaned by my SIL some time back and once I got used to it, as in learning to cast it, found it works. Added a 2nd setup, one for spinnerbaits, one for jigs. Everything else is spinning. if it weren’t for the arthritis I’d still be all spinning, never had a reason to change. Might be different if I had a bass boat, can’t get down pitching from a canoe.
  2. How about painting purple stripes on the trees towards the road, or a by permission only. Not as harsh as “keep out”.
  3. It’ll take a toll on your fishery too. There’s a pond I went to once, just a few cottages on it, has a small area that’s state owned but unmarked and undeveloped. Portaged the canoe in, beautiful place though lackluster fishing. Next time went there was a pole with a no trespassing sign, on public land. Can’t say I blame them, doesn’t take long to mess up a good thing.
  4. I have 2 Bass Raiders. an 8’ here at home in case I want to use it solo, in the year I’ve owned it I used it once. I also have a 10’er at my daughter’s house which is much better for 2. I leave it there for my SIL to take out his son, I pick it up when I go out with one of my GS’s. The 8’ I inherited last winter, the 10 I bought during Covid to take out the grand kids.
  5. Specs say 3-8 for line, 1/16-3/8. Spinning NED, HAIR JIG, FINESSE ML-M F 7'6" 1 3-8 1/16-3/8
  6. If it were me I’d move the negative’s to the other battery as mentioned above as a first step. I’d also check all the cables for a loose connector.
  7. Did I read it right where you only see 12.4 while the motor cranks?
  8. Lowest I’ve gotten is driving past it. Google shows a Facebook group if you don’t get what you need here, says it was still ice as of yesterday, not that it’s open.

Now a days, it’s only once in a while when fishing. Arturo Fuentes Hemmingways and Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real in corona. I also have a few Padron 1926 #35’s in natural, these are kind of strong for me which explains why I still have them, excellent cigar though. Mostly it’s the Romeo y Julieta’s, a little milder, although that may be due to the diameter of a coronas, and more affordable when ordered by the box on line. The Hemmingway’s taste like crap when relit, which is all the time when fishing, the R y J’s do not.
  10. I can’t find specs for the overhead loss by the charger but 40 amp at 12vdc is only 3.3 amps at 12vac. If you don’t get a satisfactory answer you can pick up a Kill A Watt for $30 and see what your charger is actually pulling.
  11. If you count any type of bass mine would be strippers off the Point Judith breakwater. When they chase bait into the corner of the beach and breakwater the fishing is fast and furious. If you are lucky no one notices, if they do fisherman show up quickly out of nowhere, even in boats, it starts looking like salmon fishing. Catching keepers with Sluggo’s on every cast is amazing. As fast as it starts, it ends.
  12. I’d have to say soft plastic baits, from Crème worms to whatever the current rage is. Started for me with purple Cremes for whatever was in the local ponds, then Sluggo’s for saltwater strippers, and now Rage baits for freshwater bass.
  13. Depends which pond I’m fishing, one has no pickerel so no leader needed there. Not that I’ll cut off a leader if the setup already has one.
  14. In Ma it gets halved to 18.25 for 65-69, then free after that. Of course they have a $5 Wildlands Conservation Stamp that gets tacked on, kind of like the fees on the electric bill. 2 more till free, at least at the moment.
  15. Polygraphs and fishing just don’t go together.
  16. The closest I’ve gotten is coming upon tracks while out hiking off trail, once in Zion, and once in Kodachrome SP. Just Bobcats here in Ma. I’ve seen panther, or at least that’s what I’ve called them, in Florida near Naples, 40 years ago before the retirement community boom.
  17. Different brand, but I’m trying amber with blue mirroring. Haven’t tried them fishing yet but for driving in the snow they are okay. I think I should have gotten 1 with black lenses and blue mirroring and left the amber without mirroring.

I’m jealous, all we get here are stocked, it’s all over about 15 minutes after sunrise.
  19. I went the rubber shelf lining route, works pretty well but I do get an escapee here and there. I don’t keep real small items in there #1 hooks and 1/32nd bullets are as small as I go. I did find the hooks get stuck in the rubber, had to add a small magnet to the hook bins. Not ideal but good enough. I don’t want to go the zip lock bag way as I like to leave the trays open so everything will dry out after every morning out.
  20. Hope all goes well Catt.
  21. Looks good from here but you need a smoker.
  22. Since you added a Time Machine to the possibilities. I’d be 10, fishing for flounder, back when you caught as many as you wanted, from a row boat in Westbrook Ct. What a completely carefree time.
  23. Something I didn’t mention, added height from the cushion takes away a little stability.
  24. Welcome from the west end of the state. If you’ve not seen it, there is a thread about fishing the your area, https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/102228-eastern-ma-new-england-area-fishing-reports/
