  1. Until I started hanging out here I didn’t know there were rods that had only 1 purpose, I have none that I consider technique specific.
  2. Works like a champ at 5:30, the observatory live cam looks a bit chilly too. 75-100 wind, air temp -46, wind chill -108, compared to my -11 and -28 wind chill. Todays smoked pork butt cook might be a bit longer then usual.
  3. I fish braid all the time on spinning reels, from 6 to 20 lb, don’t know what we’re doing differently other then you set your drag higher then I do, but I never get the line digging in and can’t remember having the line break other then bite offs or from doing something stupid like casting with the bail closed. I go for about 25%ish of rated line strength when pre setting the drag.
  4. Do a web search on “roof rack load assist”. Probably the easiest loading is a canoe/kayak trailer.
  5. FWIW, insurance may pay for physical therapy, mine did with if a referral from my doctor.
  6. Both my wife and I use one for sciatica, but it’s more the hip then the back. A physical therapist showed us how and where to use it, might be worth a visit for your back.
  7. We’ve lost almost all our hunting ground, mostly full of oversized homes with posted property. Much of it is timber co owned and posted. We’ve got whole towns that are by permit only. Have our share of private ponds but many have state property for access points. What’s lost was lost long ago.
  8. You’ve got a point about them leaking. When we 1st had the house built ours leaked like a sieve. Took a lot of regrading to compact the soil from digging the basement hole to get it to stop, also had to route the downspouts underground across the yard to better slopes. Ya, it was a hassle, 40 years ago.
  9. You can have a basement hatchway added, or is it called a bulkhead.
  10. Ariens is top notch, Toro’s are good too. I only know 1 guy with a single stage, he uses it for under a few inches, driveway is roughly your size, he has someone plow when it’s deeper. He’s happy with it under those limits. For a shorter drive like yours, I’d look at the Classic, a 24” is good, they have smaller ones to if your wife or similar will need to use it. I had a small one before, easy to use but choked if you got wet snow. I have about 200’ and have a big Simplicity from before Briggs bought them. Goes thru anything but it’s very heavy. I’m old school where bigger is better.
  11. How big is the driveway, do you get slushy wet snow or just dry?
  12. Costco solid Albacore King Oscar double layer in oil, outstanding a few days into a canoe trip down the Alagash.
  13. Can you tell how many are active?
  14. I thought 832 was supposed to fray less too, bummer if true, I just bought some.
  15. I’m still hoping I don’t need to refill the oil tanks this winter, it was bad enough paying $3.50 in the fall, it‘s close to $5 now.
  16. That’s a lot of varying answers to the question, not much chance you’re getting “the greatest western movie ever made” down to one. I like both the newer ones and the oldies, too many good ones to choose just one.
  17. Have yet to have a pickerel chomp thru a spinnerbait.
  18. Sticking to the Start Trek theme, a holodeck in the extra bedroom. Get out of bed in the a.m. and in seconds be on a nice pond catching whatever I can dream of. When I need to I just get up and make coffee or hit the head, then back into the holodeck and keep fishing.
  19. Did you get the orange?
  20. As soon as I started to read this thread I could smell it and picture the blue glass humidifier mom would run.
  21. I tried the wire, for me it was too hard to tie so I gave up, it did certainly work. Started using 15 or 20 lb FC about half way thru the year, no further bite offs. where I fish there are more pics then bass, I catch them on whatever I throw. The shallower the water, the smaller but more plentiful the pics.
  22. I have a few, Sweet Rub from the Hey Grill Hey web sites recipe, use on pork bbq, chops, and burgers. Weber’s Roasted Garlic and Herb for chicken and chops, cand Paul Prudhomme’s Blackened Redfish Seasoning for any time we went some zing. Just tried Lambert’s Sweet Rub-O-Mine BBQ, much like the sweet rub I mentioned above but with less sweet and more salt and pepper. Going to look for the Zatarain’s Creole Catt mentioned.
  23. Just took a look at the pentagon credit unit, rates are usually pretty good, 7.74%, yuck. My local bank says as of 1/3 boats are 4.75% for 2021 and up. Most places term boat loans a Personal Loan, which never have good rates.
  24. I’ll have to try and remember this for my GS’s next bday, it’s something we enjoyed as kids and he would too. We’re about out of Lego sets we can get him.
  25. Do they still come with the little screws and nuts?
