  1. I use two colors and three lines. I have a (2) 8lb Yo-zuri reels and a 12lb Yo-zuri fluoro reel. Also have a 40lb spiderwire braid reel. They seems to all work great and have had no issues. I use standard and moss green.
  2. Great looking fish!
  3. Yep this has happened to me. I wouldn't say the size of your Florida Monsters lol. I have had small 8-12" dinks get engulfed by 3-4lbers. I have had a 2.5 lber get nailed by a 30"+ Pike. The pike didn't hold long enough for me to know for sure but I saw it breach water and it sure scarred the hell out of me!
  4. I totally agree, it's been in the high thirties here all this week. Next Saturday can't get here fast enough
  5. Nitro I am in the same boat pretty much. I have never fished any water thats colder than 45, atleast for bass. My water is 39, temp outside lower to high 40's right now... but I went out 3 weeks ago when the water was 37 and the temp outside was 35. I was marking bait fish on 30 foot ledges but couldn't hook into anything. I think its always worth a shot because if you don't practice you can't get better. Im going out this weekend in 40 degree weather.
  6. Ronnie, thats a bummer. Well... a good bummer atleast. I would like to thank you personally for all your help that you have done to make the Bass Resource Road Trip possible. If not this year, next year! Patrick
  7. LOL. Thanks Kent! But lets just say I'll borrow it
  8. So are we close enough for you Kentucky guys to give us a tackle update on what we should absolutely bring? I live two hours out of any decent fishing store an will be in the city tororrow for work. I don't think the bait monkey would mind me stoppin' in
  9. im sure there is a bar at the lodge. If not , there is gonna be a bar at campsite 30. Yeah, depending on the weather. LOL I remember last year thinking, "Alright, lets sit outside and have a couple beers." Then I realized if I sat outside any more, I might get frostbite.... All I know is it better be warmer in Kentucky than it was in Alabama. ;D I never expected I would see how well the heater worked in the Bass Bus. If there is any weather over 50 degrees I'll be in a t-shirt. I haven't seen anything over 50 in about 5 months.
  10. Nice looking fish! Susky, just by a matter of chance is the guy in the second picture name John? I have a fraternity brother that looks exactly like him and he is a helicopter pilot for the national guard originally from Oregon.
  11. Lol, not really the break dancing type. Just a good hoot and hollar is enough for me, and the occasional, when a hookset, "Is is a biggun?" or "Good Fish?" Looks like fishing is going to be superb. I'm just glad to get out where there is no snow! I'm gonna try and get out this weekend with a little warmer weather, like mid forty's hehe, and see if I can't get into some deep water smallies.
  12. My friends say mine is photoshop lol
  13. I finally found where ya'all have been posting. I was starting to get worried that I was the only one going nuts sitting in the house waiting for road trip! There hasen't been many posts in general or outings except for the sweet fish you locals have been pulling out. I have a timer set up on the computer at work that counts down the seconds. This winters cabin fever will be at a true high when I arrive. Don't be surprised if little Iaconelli outbreaks comes out now and again.
  14. Sounds like a good idea to me!
  15. It's all about presentation. I have many friends I go out with and they fish the same baits or different and then we'll switch and I'll boat more fish, I think it's all about presentation.
  16. Thats one sweet fish... Congratz!
  17. The water temp up on pend oreille is still 37-38 degrees. It doesn't matter what the air temp is so much as the water temp. Still needs to get a bit warmer. If you are really jiving to get hooked I would first start on the north western bays. Sounds like you are on the right track with your baits. I would look for bait balls on ledges in 20-30 foot water around rocks and structure. Remember that water this cold make sure to finesse your baits. I will fish a 15 minute cast sometimes barely moving. When you think you are fishing your bait slow, do it slower
  18. I fish at night quite a bit. It is quite spookey although fishing some of the creeks up here because we have a lot of wild animals. Been approcahed by two black bear at night last year. The top water slam of a pig probably makes me jump more than subtle movements in bushes though
  19. Wow that is a pig... Congratz! Road trip is looking up to be great conditions. The more ya post the more cabin fever I am getting.
  20. Idaho... Bass Season is open on major waterways 365 but usually season starts around mid-april because of ice melt off.
  21. Bear lake (34 acres) Located in a county park off Highway 2 about half-way between Spokane and Newport, this lake offers largemouth bass, perch, and planted rainbow trout. Bear Lake changes from juveniles-only to family fishing rules on May 1, 2000: Only juveniles or licensed adults accompanied by a juvenile are allowed to fish. Check with the regional office in Spokane for details. Access depends on whether or not the county park is open. Open season is from the last Saturday in April through October. Chapman Lake (146 acres) This lake has a late closure so you can take advantage of good action on its largemouth and smallmouth bass then. Chapman also provides good catches of rainbow trout and kokanee, with a generous kokanee limit; check the regulations pamphlet for details. Open season runs from the last Saturday in April through October 31. Clear Lake (375 acres) This spring's plants of yearling rainbow and brown trout, along with fall fry plants of both, should provide good action. This lake has also been selected to receive a bonus plant of large triploid rainbow trout (averaging 1-1/2 pounds apiece). These sterile fish can grow to trophy size if not harvested. A good largemouth bass fishery is available here as well. Located two miles south of the town of Medical Lake, Clear Lake has resorts and a public access on the south end. Low water conditions can make launching trailered boats very difficult. Small car-top boats, rafts and canoes are recommended. Open season is from the last Saturday in April through October 31. Liberty Lake (711 acres) Although largemouth bass, perch and other warmwater species dominate here, yearling and broodstock rainbow trout and yearling brown trout are planted. This lake has also been selected to receive a bonus plant of large triploid rainbow trout (averaging 1-1/2 pounds apiece). These sterile fish can grow to trophy size if not harvested. Walleyes have been planted and may be of legal size by now. Liberty is just 15 miles east of Spokane at the town of Liberty Lake. Public access is available. Disabled accessibility level surfaces, can fish from bank at access. Open season runs from the last Saturday in April through September 30. Long Lake (5020 acres) This is actually a reservoir on the Spokane River, created by a hydroelectric dam 23 miles northwest of town. It provides good largemouth bass, perch, crappie, and bullhead fishing, plus an occasional northern pike. Planted catchable-size brown trout are also taken, and smallmouth bass have been stocked. Long Lake is open year-round and has several resorts, plus a DNR camp and boat launch off the Nine Mile Falls road. Newman Lake (1200 acres) This lake 14 miles east of Spokane on Highway 290 has something for everybody: largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, perch, catfish, plus some rainbow, brown and eastern brook trout. The lake has also been selected to receive a bonus plant of large triploid rainbow trout (averaging 1-1/2 pounds apiece). These sterile fish can grow to trophy size if not harvested. In addition, Newman has been stocked with tiger muskies, with a one-fish, 36-inch minimum size limit; please check your regulations pamphlet for details. There is public access on the east shore, and resorts. Year-round open season. Disabled accessibility Level 1. 3 WCTs, Blk Tpa, level, good WC accessibility. I would recommend long lake. If you would want to travel a little bit I would definitely hit up pot holes.
  22. Nice fish and congratz on the new pb. Like O said, get out there and throw that lizard till the cows come home
  23. Sounds like a great time! Have a blast and catch some for us northerners still fishing through a hole
  24. That Toss.Toss.Turn post made me laugh! I get the same way even if it is just a regular day out fishing that I have planned.
