  1. What lures do you like to throw and what do you throw them on? As an example two techniques I struggled with was the bladed jig and the frog… until I bought the right rods to fish them. That’s not to say every techniques requires a special rod but I truly believe both of those do. Over the weekend I taught my buddy how to fish a weightless t rigged Senko style worm.. do you ever throw such a rig? Guaranteed fish catcher.
  2. Got out Saturday morning with a buddy in my new to me Grumman canoe. Wind was non existent until probably 11am… after a few not good weeks I finally was back on fish and having fun. Started with a small popper I pulled out of a tree last year. Caught 3 species with it. Them I switched to my weightless 4 inch Dingah and started to upsize. We even managed to double up. The accomplishment of the day though was teaching this guy how to fish a worm. When he set the hook on this fish I thought for sure it was a 4lber for a second.
  3. Still very much a work in progress but DIY rod and tackle storage.. upcylcled (free) baby changing table and coffee table. Had casters lying around from a different project… spent months trying to get free pegboard, finally broke down and bought some.. 2 days a later a buddy says hey “need any pegboard?” wound up using some premade clips from Basspro (linked below) to hold the rods but def brainstormed some diy options. https://www.basspro.com/p/organized-fishing-regular-rod-holder-clips Don’t laugh at all the googan stuff found a guy selling in bulk basically giving it away.. the spinnerbaits and swimbaits are actually real good at $2 a pop.
  4. Check your emails, Tackle Warehouse is doing a 15% mailing list sale.
  5. I’m terrible at posting these when they’re new… here’s my best/favorite day from vacation. In order. caught throwing against the bank with a flashback mini… he tapped it a couple times beside committing. caught on a hard line weed edge found by the Lowrance on a Evo bladed jig.. an upgrade. little fella hit a wacky rig up against the bank of an island that drops off steep... hooked him under the jaw, I respect his ambition. my best fish of the season, caught on the Evo, over the aforementioned drop off next to the island. 19.5 inches, not a pin. This was in Plymouth, water was right around 70 degrees. Wind was virtually non existent at 6 am put picked up by mid morning. video drops tonight if anybody is interested.
  6. Both fish were 2 inches shy of pins.. I haven’t got any yet this year… YET.
  7. Caught this big girl last weekend only one other bass (about 2lbs) which was good and on most days would be great… but come on. there was also this, if anybody cares I haven’t got out nearly enough this year but I’m on vacation next week and plan on fishing a lot if anybody wants to meet up in the SE MA area.
  8. You seem like you’re probably a lot of fun to be around. Kid bought 2 reels, in his budget… one was good, one had a clear defect that presented itself immediately … it happens. I had a similar Lews reel and had no durability issues but it was heavy, so it went up on eBay. I’m an adult and can afford to spend more so now I do. This kid will probably be a Lews fan for life and there’s worse things to be into. Good on Lews, good on the kid and good on Mobasser for teaching his grandson how to conduct business. I see all wins here.
  9. This is a fun topic… I just started night fishing a few weeks ago. I’m not committed one way or the other yet but I’m leaning toward liking it. It does take a toll on the body though. I’ve caught a few slobs and the first night I was broken off by something epic. It haven’t got a lot of bites but all the bites I’ve gotten have been above average fish. I’ve found all my success on a black and blue elite evo bladed jig with a crush city freeloader trailer. You definitely want thump and commotion.
  10. I think they usually miss, they have awful aim… however my first frog fish of the year was a pick. I devastated him with my braid and he devastated my frog with his teeth.
  11. RIP… I imagine you can fish everyday in heaven.
  12. Welcome, I’m also in MA.. there’s a lot of us on here. What part of the state are you in? I’m on the South Shore.
  13. I created (on paper) the double Arbogast rig.. it’s a buzzplug in front(hook would be ideal to wire on a follower)to a jitterbug… I’ll be back with results once I try it.
  14. No smallies here but this is home base for me… the best photo I’ve ever taken, already printed on canvas and hanging just inside the door to my home.
  15. The single greatest invention in history, I’m rigging one tonight. Bravo. I’m thinking regular frog in the front toadrunner in the back.
  16. Yeah, I just looked, doesn’t appear to be any.. bummer man.. do you run into many other kayakers? They’re everywhere by me… good luck.
  17. Download the fishing chaos app on your phone and search through the app.
  18. I made the mistake this weekend of letting the wind blow me 1/4 mile into a weedbed I wanted to fish… couldn’t motor out only paddle into the wind through very heavy vegetation, it was in fact the best workout I’ve had in decades.
  19. Fished my first kayak tournament on Saturday, it was almost cancelled in anticipation of how crazy it could be.. it wasn’t that bad though.. finished 11th out of 24 if anybody is interested.
  20. September.. I will say almost all of my really big fish have come before 7am.
  21. Does anybody fish the Ma Kayak Bassin tournaments? I registered for this weekend’a at The Nip had some questions… I know I could ask the organizers but I’m here with you all now.
  22. I believe stored correctly it’d be okay.. hot/cold cycling in a car for years I wouldn’t trust it… I have a partial arsenal of rods full time in my car from mid March through mid November.. the super cold months I bring very little out and rods come back in the house when not in use… A I fear ruining my line and B I don’t want to cause any problems with the epoxy on my rods.. I could be completely insane but these steps work for me.
  23. More hoping than expected…. But looking back at last year Tackle Warehouse ran a 15% off sale and ALF ran 20-25% off… Independence Day is usually a pretty big sales holiday…. We’ll see.
  24. Thanks everybody.. so far I notice a lot of recommendations are lighter power than I’m used to. I like the extra horsepower of the MH because I throw into some crazy stuff and try to get them up and out quick. I’m going to see what the 4th of July sales look like, I know they can’t advertise discounts on Shimanos but at 20% off a 7’ Med/fast Zodias would be $175 but an Expride same specs would be $224 (this all depends on a sale that may not happen).. the reviews on the Expride is that it’s heavier than rated does anybody recommend that Expride for my application? I can go a little over budget if it’s worth it. Thanks again everybody.
  25. I appreciate the suggestions so far everybody.. I know I’m asking a lot, I’m really just looking for an excuse to buy a new rod. I do use high viz braid which is helpful and I run yo-zuri hybrid (copolymer) leader.
