My son is playing baseball again!
That is awesome for your son! It’s always mind blowing how good high school kids can be at a sport. Sounds like his talent is there and you are there to keep a good head on his shoulders.

Are there too many options?
Having a few choices in the boat is great. Needing every brand size color is not needed. Fishing companies are here to make money. Trying to sell you as many different kinds is how they do it. Pro anglers are going to push whoever they are sponsored by. Between brand A and brand B i highly doubt is enough difference to the fish. I played this game in the musky world. A $12 flatstick will catch just as much as a $200 hand carved and painted bait. I stick to what puts fish in my boat.

Eye popping numbers
I hate to say it but you nailed it. You’re 175 will do just about anything a 100k boat will. The three biggest reasons I am looking to get a new boat in 2024 is I want a tunnel hull. I want a center console. I want a bigger boat because I have some what out grew my 16’ side console.

Hello from West Virginia
I have limited time there. I can’t spend time burning all over the lake trying to find fish. I scoped out a few areas close to the resort side and it has paid off big. Areas you could have no problem paddling to. I too would love to fish the new river. For smallies and musky.

Shimano Reels
Spinning or casting? I am assuming casting. I just bought a tranx 151. I haven’t got to try it out yet. I’d say look in the 150-200 range for a good casting reel. I am just a tranx guy from the years of musky fishing. spinning I tend to go in the lower end. I run Sahara’s.

Gear for spring...
I just bought a tranx 151 and a ST. Croix med heavy for texas rigging. Plus stocking up on terminal tackle and plastics for that. I stocked up on some of the DT series crank baits as well. I am trying to branch out a little more this year. I’d also like to try my hand at a local tournament a year

Any hockey fans?
The “fighter” on the team hockey hands are better than his punching hands. The days of the enforcers are long gone. Being in fights doesn’t win you games. I do think as a result you tend to seem more cheap shots. As much as I like Marchand back in the 90s and before he would have needed a nose job snd his jaw wired shut.

Deep grass beds
Call me weird but I’ve never thrown anytbjng texas rigged. 2023 I am going to go play in the grass beds on my river with one. I’ve caught fish on the edges of them no reason why I can get a t rig in there and so some damage

Are these numbers for real?
They said that was lack of pigmentation and did not pose any threat. here is an article you guys can scroll down to the small mouth part. It talks about the migratory species with the dams. It also talks about the research and pharmaceutical drugs that pass through our sewer system. https://www.ydr.com/in-depth/news/2021/02/03/3-iconic-susquehanna-river-aquatic-species-struggle-survive/5853999002/

Are these numbers for real?
@jhoffman you can’t forget about all the legions and growths all of the species of fish were getting at alarming rates.

Any hockey fans?
It is incredible what they are doing.

Are these numbers for real?
That’s what I always heard it was from. There was those massive fish kills in the 2000s that destroyed the fishery for about a decade. It’s back and it’s good now. Not to where it was but still good.

Favorite cut of steak/beef
Where is the one on my plate option? So I picked other. I’m not picky as long as they are grilled medium to medium rare.

Trim not working
Check to make sure the other power cables are hooked up to the battery correctly. I started to have. A similar issue ditched the merc and put a Yamaha jet on it. It may be a faulty switch though. Mine worked intermittently. I did not have many hours on the motor either.

Shimano Tranx worth it?
I just ordered a tranx 151. I have not got to use it yet. I used tranx 500 for musky for years. I can say from the musky side of things there isn’t a smoother more durable reel out there. It is just huge. I hope the 151 follows suit. I have read about people saying it’s a curado but, made for salt water.

What say you?
I bet it was something nice though

Test Your Braid!
I had a down east salty rod holder break trolling at mph. I was using 80lb suffix 832 line dug into the spool on a snag. My fault for not spooling it correctly. I would believe that put more than 80lbs of tension on that line before breaking the holder.

Eye popping numbers
I wish I could feel comfortable buying a used boat here. Unless you know the person most boats are beat up. No I’m purpose either it’s just the issue of running the river. No way around it.

Cologne
I never completely lost my sense of taste or smell when I had it. It changed and it’s weird. Somethings I eventually had to relearn the taste as well. It is what it is though.

Finding fish in winter…look for bait, structure or bass?
All three are valid. Fish are where they are for three reasons. Comfort, food, spawn. Sometimes it’s a combination. The colder water just makes fish eat less because they don’t digest as fast. The windows are shorter so it’s harder to find the feeding/active fish. Don’t over think it.

Outside My Comfort Zone
Drop shotting and texas rigs are something I have done very little of. Actually I’ve never texas rigged anything ever. This year I want to do more drop shot and I want to start using a texas rig in the grass beds on the river.
