Head south! It’s always rough buying something new and you can’t enjoy it right away.

Boat registration in nj?
I know but, someone stated a 12’ does not get titled in NJ. That would be problematic if he would want to go to another state and use it.

Boat registration in nj?
The other thing you need to look at is if you are using it in another state or launching it on the other side of the Delaware those laws apply. if you were to use that boat in PA it would need to be registered and titled because of having a motor, even an electric trolling motor. A registered boat pretty much will cover you anywhere.

Old fishing holes that are off limits anymore
Sounds like you are talking about redhill. Can’t forget the warm waters on the west shore at Brunner. As soon as you pull up there in a boat their security is there making sure you don’t go past their cable. They also basically shut down the catwalk. Not officially as far as I know but, I can’t see them ever letting people on it again with the new fish slide

Searching for a new fluoro leader line
I don’t think it’s bad line. Just not right for my applications. As I stated before I wasn’t comparing the same test line either. Hook sets are free so I set my drag to slip. I also don’t snap hook set. I slam it home and load the whole rod to set the hook.

Searching for a new fluoro leader line
I set my drags so that if I set the hook into a rock it slips. I also used 10lb sniper as a leader and it snapped wayyyyyyyy easier then the vanish. It was 7lbs lighter though.

Searching for a new fluoro leader line
I don’t really use the leader because of the fish being line shy. I used it because of all the rocks I grind against. Where was it failing at the knots or in the middle?

I use Berkeley vanish 17lb. Just what i had laying around one time and it’s been good to me ever since.

The True Cast: Is fly-fishing an “elitist” pursuit?
I was this guy. I think a lot of it comes from “you catch my fish by accident and think it’s an accomplishment”. Which I don’t snob fishermen anymore but, I don’t want to catchy musky while bass fishing. I don’t want to catch catfish while musky fishing etc. I want to catch what I am targeting at that time. I am at the point as long as you are fishing cleanly, ethically and legally have at it! fly fishing and tying is a true art. It’s not something I am interested in doing but have the most respect for people who do it well.

Higher-end spinnerbaits
I do like the sling bladez. I am not a spinner bait guru though. More of a bottom bouncer.

Most recent PB
I caught this just under 6lb smallie right around thanksgiving 2022. Big ones are a bonus I just enjoy catching fish.

Minn Kota problem
That’s the thing with a button it’s engaged or not engaged. It doesnt take much.

"New" boat - where to start with GPS fish finder
Unless your smaller lakes are on the lake mapping it may not be worth it to have a unit with lake maps. Worst case get the Navionics app on your phone. Once you get the waypoints marked you’ll just be going to those anyway. Just some food for thought. not saying it’s the best but could be a compromise for you.

Minn Kota problem
I believe you are talking about one of the old cable pedals. The pedal is off in the middle, the constant or intermittent either way. I would look at the button you use on the pedal to make it go. It could be jammed down a little bit. Take a test light and see if you have power on either side of the pedal button. It could be as simple as a loose connection in the pedal too. If it’s not there I’d check the head to make sure nothing came loose up there as well. With as stiff as those cables from the pedal to the head are I would doubt it would be in there. So that’s why i recommend starting with the pedal and head.

We’ve got a bass boat!
I went from a canoe to basically the same boat. You will have a blast enjoy it!

"New" boat - where to start with GPS fish finder
I would do the TM with spot lock first. As far as sonars. I personally wouldn’t keep switching them back and forth while on the fly. You are asking to drop one or mess up the connections. I run garmin strikers nothing crazy but they get the job done. They do not have the lake map feature. Boat used to stand for break out another thousand. Now it’s many thousands. I have a 19 bass tracker 160. The front casting deck with a pedal would be very crammed with a big screen unit.

Fishing sight lol
Even different plastics I want to see how they react. I want to see what they do at rest as well.

Fishing sight lol
I have gone in very shallow clear water and worked different baits to see what movements do what. I know depth current etc change this. It’s just a good starting point in how I try to in-vision the movements. Especially when using braid you will get more movement out of a bait than you think. I guess from all the years of welding I’ve learned how little manipulations of your wrist change everything. This would be even more exaggerated on a 7ft rod.

Why does purchasing a new rod excite me more than a new reel?
Looks like they were trying to make a palming reel seat

Why does purchasing a new rod excite me more than a new reel?
Sure a smooth reel feels nice but, you’ll forget about that. You’ll never forget how the rod feels. That’s you’re direct connection to the bait and fish.

Are there too many options?
That is more rig related then I just need a different brand of worm. Which the posters intent was why do I need all these different plastic worms. I get what you are saying though. I like to challenge myself to get good at a different rig/techniques

Hello from West Virginia
Most of that is a no wake zone as well.

Eye popping numbers
No doubt on that. I was just doing apples to apples. I am very limited with my boat but, for around here it’s very good. If I wanted to fish other areas I wouldn’t have the rig I have.
-
Eye popping numbers
I would think comfort and speed would be the two biggest things. I was just getting at I don’t believe a boat will make him fish the same areas any differently.
