How would you fish these upcoming conditions?
It’s going to be 48 up here in PA today I’ll take my conditions. Water temps I would assume would be around 40s I haven’t been out in over a month. I am headed out today. Not sure if it’s going to be the river or a lake. I am a river rat but, I feel like where I want to go the flathead guys will be crowding in. I know everyone says they don’t eat in cold water has never been here. The pile in areas and people use big swim jigs to get them. I feel like everyone struggles in colder water wether they want to admit it or not. I tend to catch as the temp drops. once it hits its coldest and stays there I don’t do well till it starts the gradual warm up. Usually the end of March we start to see the warm up.

I always say welll I’m not going today. Then I sit and think what else am I going to do so I go fishing instead. I do almost always enjoy going out. I just adjust my expectations to how I feel the day might go.

Stay home. That’s very very tough conditions. I’d probably start shallow unless I see bait at the first break main break. I’d also look for some form of neck down in the lake where fish could have been isolated and slid into there. I’d personally fish it prespawn to start. I’d try a form of crank bait with rattles to try and find some fish. Then even though the visibility is that good maybe switch to a shakey or ned once found.

What do you use to cut braid?
I just use the cheap rapala scissors from Walmart. Just pull the braid tight.

Sun blinders?
Polarized sunglasses and a hat seem to work best.

A Karen, Ken, Crank, or Hooligan story?
I think I am the crank to be honest. I just don’t engage most people anymore it’s not worth it. I just shake my head and go about my day.

'The Things I've Done to Retrieve a Lure'
Even with a lure retriever I couldn’t get them out end up snapping the line. Others were from the bank days. Generally yes a lure retriever or just going back will get it but, it happens when you can’t. It’s usually when the line gets wrapped around something under water. Also broken baits trying to get them out.

'The Things I've Done to Retrieve a Lure'
I don’t even bat an eyelash and loosing stuff anymore. Retying is what I get angry about. I lost so man $30-75 musky lures and that doesn’t even make me bat an eyelash at that anymore either. Have to pay to play.

What tactic have you completely given up on?
This is probably going to be the most unpopular choice here. weightless whacky rigged worms. I can’t stand using them nor have I caught a bunch of fish doing it.

Biggest Bass of 2023 ~ What Bait ?
You have to remember I only cared about musky fishing. Bass was something to do here or there a couple times a year. I never cared about it. Growing up fishing with my dad for bass it was minnows.

Biggest Bass of 2023 ~ What Bait ?
So it will more than likely be a ned rig. I am going to try like heck though to get it on a texas rigged worm. I have never texas rigged anything ever in my life. Should be interesting.

How many days did you fish last year?
I used to average about 4 times a month. I was way down in 2022. One because of gas prices and two I adopted my dog. So I took about two months off from fishing. Now since my dog loves going on the boat so much I take him with. I just don’t go out below 50 anymore because of him. Before I’d go out. So my guess is 40ish last year and this year probably around 30 times.

Best Sun Protective Clothing
I wear Colombia hooded sun shirts. I also have one simms hooded. I can’t say I notice much difference between the two. As someone else said sun glasses are key too. That glare of the water is down right nasty. Your eyes can sunburn just like any other skin as well. I wear under armor shorts. The real light kind I’m not sure if the version and crocs. I will from time to time spray my legs and feet. I hate sun screen but, it’s better having it there then all over my arms face/neck. I also wear a hat as most do. It’s like proper fishing attire. When I have forgotten it my face will get sunburn without it. So I always recommend a hat.

No Balloon Thread? Really?
A spy balloon doesn’t worry me nearly as much as all the computer hacking that goes on. Like it or not your whole life is on a computer.

The braided line dilemma
It sounds like you are not getting the braid tight enough on the spool when you spool it. You could also be reeling over a loop in your line a not noticing. The only braid I ever had any issue with was power pro(wind knots). Sufix, cortland, spiderwire I never had a single issue with. I did have a similar issue when I started trolling for musky. Get a snag clicker singing then snap and the braid dug in. It was because I did not get the 300yds on the spool tight.

Boat registration in nj?
Gotcha that’s what I was missing sorry.

Boat registration in nj?
But in most states you cannot register it without a title. If he can’t register it most states will have an issue with it. Which this is only purely if he does want to go out of state.
