That’s a good rule. That is generally what I stick by, but never actually thought of it that way. Also I factor in putting the kayak on off the car. I generally only have 1-2 hours on my kayak.

Where do you order those? I have been looking for something similar. Caught a 5.8 on one of those from aliexpress but want something better.

I am currently in college and haven’t found any productive spots for me nearby yet. But at home, In my neighborhood there is a chain of 3 ponds. The most productive one I have caught 3 fish over 4 pounds since living there for a year. There is a golf course with ponds I fish a couple miles away which is where I caught a 5.6 pounder last year and a 6 pounder yesterday. Within a 30 minute drive there is one big lake and 4 public reservoirs. The farthest I go currently is the occasional trip to a newer reservoir about 20 miles from my house. If anyone knows river fishing or the new river, let me know. I would love to learn to fish from smallmouth.

Great read. Interesting history I never knew about, despite hearing that Florida is the bass capital of the world and taking family vacations there. Hope to do some fishing there one day.

New PB 6.12 caught at a pond on a 3/8 evo bladed jig black and blue with green pumpkin trailer. Only one I caught at the pond today despite seeing many other fish. The ponds seemed to have warmed up quickly but I’m not sure why the others wouldn’t even bite a senko.

First bass of the year. Got 3 today all on Ned rig. Haven’t caught anything in lakes yet so I’m hitting the ponds that have warmed up. Getting close to prespawn here in Spotsylvania, VA.

Where are you located? I’m in Virginia and I haven’t been able to catch any yet this year. The water still feels cold for how warm it has been recently.

Well I sold the reel for $130 and got a silver wolf used for $200 shipped. Bait monkey wins again.

Guy on eBay was selling it he said he had a couple it is mint but no box or anything else.

These can be harder to find, but they are my favorite hooks for a 6 in senko or for a weightless fluke.

What is the regular price of the rods?

Hey, bass pro is doing the trade in event so you could check out what they have there. There are a lot of good options for rods, and a lot of it is personal preference. I recently got a cashion element z2 for 110 with tackle warehouse sale and it feels great for the price. The tatula xt rods feel nice but I have never owned one. I fished the previous gen slx 610 mh for a while and it was a good rod.

What little crank baits do you use?

I know Bassfishinghq has talked about the Tharp series grinder on YouTube. Not sure what he said he used it for tho. I believe he said he liked the 7’4 mh mf for chatterbaits. Let us know how you like it.

Hey guys, I have a current gen daiwa regal with the handle knob riveted on. I know some other reels use a screw to hold it on. So at some point some sand or debris must have got in between the handle and the knob, creating a grindy or rubbing feel. This doesn’t affect performance but just annoys me. Is there any way to fix this?

The threads in the picture don’t look damaged from what I see. I am not an expert, but if you were going to change the handle I would just put the new one on with the nut included.

Well the bait monkey got me again. Got this 2016 Steez sv for $240 shipped, a sds custom bfs spool, and some $1 lures from sportsman’s warehouse. Matches @bulldog1935 Steez from the post 3 days ago - also thanks for helping me find the spool Ron.

I had one and sold it. It was decently smooth like the last gen and casted decent. I think for around $100, it is a decent reel. I am not a fan of mag trax too much tho.

Hopefully they come out soon. I have $50 in gift cards to spend there from Christmas and I have been waiting to spend them.

I only have two spinning combos so they stay in tact. One medium on medium light. My casting rods and reels get mixed around depending on what lure I’m throwing, where I’m fishing etc.

I believe the silver wolf is a reel made exactly for this situation. It is a zillion with a shallow spool specialized for light pe. It still has a good line capacity and is made from lures 3-28 per Daiwa I believe. I think 3g might be light for it with a stock spool but I was actually looking at getting one on eBay I saw for a good price. That or an alphas 800s should be perfect. But the silver wolf is on the zillion platform which is just amazing.
