  1. My main reservoir/lake is Flint Creek reservoir in Wiggins, Ms. 600 acres made for recreational boaters, swimmers and fishermen and for flood control. It's a beautiful lake located in the Piney Hills of Mississippi with a healthy population of shad after some renovation from the State a few yrs. ago. Some 10 lb. plus monsters cruise in its waters. Can't catch a bass to save my life with a spinner bait ... not one ... the worm another story ... good fishing ... P.S. 2013 BASS MASTER CLASSIC champion Cliff Pace called it his home lake ...
  2. My dad gave me this years ago ... I've used it on occasion and it still works ... good fishing ...
  3. Arbogast Jitterbug ... Heddon Baby Torpedo ...
  4. My mileage ... Bass react well to the color green ... I like Zoom Trick Worm Green Pumpkin ... Culprit's Red Shad has hit a few home runs for me, too .. in the marsh the color red is good to dynamite most of the time .. good fishing ...
  5. I've used Outdoor World Rod and Reel Repair through BPS. Spoke to a repairman on the phone who told me to send my old Mitchell 300x Gold Spinning reel in. Sent it back like new with a new frame and spruced up the inside guts of the reel. Smooth as silk, looks great and performs like a champ. A good option for older reels worth saving and liked ... at 35.00 dollars that includes shipping ... believe the reel guy on this site works on older reels, too ... good fishing ...
  6. True ... and the laws of supply and demand have never been refuted ... Today 50 dollars baitcasters perform much much better than they did 10 years ago. The man on a budget can purchase a fishing reel for a reasonable amount of money and enjoy himself. And fish with it a long time .. good fishing ...
  7. Years ago when I lived in Texas I would take my baitcasters to a gentleman who cleaned and repaired reels. He at one time worked for Academy as one of its reel repair guys when they did such a thing. Told me the Academy reels were just as good and sometimes better than some name brands. Good fishing ...
  8. if you can find one in stock at Walmart ... Lew's Hank Parker Spinning Speed Stick Fishing Rod ... 39.96 with IM8 graphite ... good fishing ...
  9. I'm from and live in the Deep South. Many here still ridicule spinning gear. For me the bait caster and spinning reels are simply the right tools for the job. You've heard it before and it's true. Enjoy them both ... Good Fishing ...
  10. I receive a newsletter everyday from Fishing Tackle Retailer. Got one this morning about the growing demand by dealers and even BPS for rods made in the USA. Covid-19 looks like it's going to change the supply chain. Hope to see more folks making fishing equipment once again in the USA... good fishing ...
  11. You can cast it a mile and feel that tap tap and set the hook with authority ... and catch a nice bass ... good fishing ...
  12. Believe Shimano is shrewd in introducing buyers to their less expensive products so as to impress the buyers with the quality of the products that are worth more ... As the buyer's circumstances or preferences change and he is ready to buy another reel and rod it's highly likely Shimano will be the reels and rods he buys ... good fishing ...
  13. got a couple of BPS TOURNEY SPECIALS rods that normally sale for 49.99 ... got 'em both marked down to 29.99 ... happy with both of 'em ... good fishing ...
  14. Heddon Moss Boss ... good fishing ...
  15. I would never get in a boat that was not using U.S. Coast Guard guidelines. Period. Every inflatable boat I was in had specifications for weight, etc. My Sea Eagle model was NMMA and CE Certified. good fishing ...
  16. My "budget reels" I have had for many yrs. are the Shimano Sienna 1000 and Solstace 2500 ...both are bullet proof and have been in some battles ... If money is a constraint for some right now ... been there done that ... Piscifun offers the Flame 2000 for 23 dollars ready for braid if desired ... a good little reel ... good fishing ...
  17. use 20 lb. and less Magreel, Spiderwire and Berkley Fireline. No leader ... Shimano, Mitchell and Piscifun reels ... big fan of braid on spinning reels ... game changer ... good fishing ...
  18. I was speaking about fishing in Harris County, Texas from the bank and not a state park. The county has fairly good sized detention/retention water sheds (one as big as 60 acres) that usually have walking trails and dog parks. A big posted sign in the parks where I fished detailed the regulations and would say "2 poles only". good fishing ...
  19. When I did some bank fishing in Texas on State Waters with regulations only 2 rods were allowed, I carried 1 spinning 6'6" med. fast and 1 med. heavy casting 6'6" or 7' fast with the spinning 8 pound test and the casting 12 lb. test. I liked it ... never felt disadvantaged in the least and the bass won its share of the contests ... good fishing ...
  20. I don't own the Sea Pack 7 but did own the classic Sea Eagle 8 with a hard floor for 5 yrs... Really enjoyed it and even put a 2 hp motor on it from time to time with a trolling motor up front. It would practically go anywhere. Sea Eagle quality is outstanding. Drawbacks to inflatables ... the wind ... and space ... pros can get to places others can't ... storage ... and of course outlay of cash ... inflatables excel in small waters ... definition of small waters vary ... with a pick up you can have your boat inflated and tie it down in the back right before you fish to save a little time and hassle ... Have seen clips on the Sea Pack and can go in bigger waters, too ... if need be ... good fishing ...
