A fish and wildlife officer employed by the state of Texas once told me when you catch the fish the fisherman should release the bass pronto -- no longer than I could hold my breath. Best chance for survival for the bass. Also, told me to cut the line off as close as possible to the hook with a gut hooked fish. Best odds for the bass to make it. Good Fishing

You're going to be hard pressed to find another Bass Fishing site as good as Bass Resource. I enjoy reading posts from members who power fish flipping and pitching, topwater, casting and frogging for the big girls in locales like Florida. That's how I learned to properly use the Chug Bug. My fishing locales, for me, dictate a more finesse approach.

Put me down as one who believes the Bass do/can see fishing line. I like a light green mono and clear.

Storm Rattlin' Chug Bug 1/4 oz. 2 1/2" and Heddon Tiny Torpedo1/4 oz. 1 7/8". Two Old School Top Waters that catch fish. Both work great with spinning gear. Tiny Torpedo the easiest to use.

I don't fish Jigs. I use Big Game Green 12lb. mono for my T-Rigged worm fishing with my BC. I like, sometimes, small diameter braid on my spinning reels.

I always have a weightless Trick Worm with 8lb. mono, sometimes 10lb mono, rigged on a 7ft. med. fast spinning rod. I also like it for smaller top waters with a Heddon Zara Puppy and Storm Rattlin' Chug Bug -- smaller one.
