What's The Average Service Life Of A Transducer?
Sounds like it could be a poor contact crimp. I use DeoxIT contact cleaner for all my electrical connections including light bulbs, prevents oxidation and cleans the contacts. Spray both the plug and receptacle interface all connectors. It’s more then likely the head unit circuit board then the transducer. Tom

Is my motor too low?
Trim the engine angle up a little to eliminate lower unit drag, cavitation plate underwater is OK at lower speeds. Tom

Night fishing - swim jigs
The hour after darkness the fish activity usually slows down as the ecosystem switch’s to nocturnal critters becoming more available and eyesight adjusting to very low light. Buzz baits can be good at the transition time noisy on the surface. Slow down and enjoy the night and keep a tight hold of the rod as night bass can be very aggressive! Tom

tournament at Baccarac
Lures only? C&R? Weights are similar to the 90’s in SoCal. Let’s hope tournaments don’t ruin the trophy fishery. Thank you for sharing👍 Tom

Neko rig after a few outings!
Missle Baits Magic worm is made by Roboworm just a little fatter, excellent worm. Keeping mind Neko is a new name for the old nail weight worm. Cut off about 3/16” flattenthe worm nose, then. Inset your nail weight so the worm stands up! Tom

are BFS rods typically shorter?
Fished the South Fork of the Kern River above 8,000’ several years from Manache meadows up To Srawberry meadows for Golden trout. Golden trout are small fish average 7”a big Golden is 10”. Most Golden trout areas are limited to barbless fly fishing, no bait or treble hooks. Manache is an open grass land meadow several miles long easy fly fishing. If you plan on using BSF tackle suggest a clear small bubble float and small mosquito flies size 20 to 24 with 2# FC leader max. Tom

Uni Knot is amazing
It would be interesting to have a chart listing the same knot various names! Uni and Duncan are the same knot. Nylon and Nylon copolymer mono line of equal diameter can achieve 100% knot strength* with several knots tied properly. Fluorocarbon line of the same diameter difficult to achieve 90% knot strength and the reason we have so many types of knots teeing to overcome lower knot strength per diameter then mono line. For whatever reason we settle on a knot that is reliable for each angler. I settled on the Palomar knot for hooks and snaps. San Diego jam knot for lures and jigs. Alberto knot for braid to mono or FC leader. Rarely tie braid direct to lures with hollow body frogs the exception and use the old braid knot (double line clinch). Line bait is perfection loop knot. Tom * includes impact strength “hook setting”.

Help selecting new spinning reel for around 100-125
Fin’s Spin5 is a small diameter braid per lb test; 10 lb is .004 dia. and strong line. Line capacity is based on spool circumference, width and depth. Spinning sizes are not equal between brands and capacity is usually calculated at maximum full spool something I suggest you never do! Tom

when out fishing. you ever see someone filming for youtube?
I seen a few back before utube. Jimmy Houston filming musky fishing with my in-laws neighbor guiding him on Lake of the Woods. I fishing area before they pulled up. Butch Brown is good friend and has a camera running while fishing. Butch fished alone most of the time, sometimes with a camera boat. I had a guide ask me to barrow a big bass so his Japanese clients could get a picture with it.

Enough Horsepower?
Learn to skin hook the worm. You want the hook completely through the worm so the point and barb is laying on the top of the work exposed. To skin hook for weedless simply pull the hook back about 1/8” pinch the worm in front of the hook point and slide the hook point into the pinched bump covering the point. Tom

do you dress like a fisherperson?
After retiring I dress casual 90% of time, jeans, shorts T shirt or Polo shirt. When fishing I wear long sleeve SPF fishing shirts otherwise the same, drives my wife nuts! Back in the 80’s went through the bass patch covered vest time period, no coveralls just jeans. Out in the sun wear a fishing hat. Tom

Honk if You Can Relate
Jeff the fact only 1 hook of the treble straighten out indicates to me the fish was snagged. Very well could have any big fish if snagged under the pectoral fin resulting in very little control fighting the fish. I snagged a big channel cat at Casitas under the pectoral fin using a jig and fought the cat for several minutes thinking it’s a world record bass because the cat never rolled just pulled like a freight train.
