  1. I've been using Sunline reaction FC this year and have been very pleased with it. I like it better than the Seaguar Invizx I had been using.
  2. Fishing has been very good this spring. Lots of big fish been caught on the A-Rig. Smallmouth fishing is still on the rebound but its way better than last year. Throw a swimbait, grub, jerkbait, spinnerbait, basically you can catch fish on just about whatever you want right now. Fishing has been a little tougher the last couple weeks since a lot have gone on bed I hear. Haven't been in 3 weeks. Not sure where you're launching but a lot of the better fish been caught midlake and up the rivers.
  3. Wow you're braver than I am! No way I would go out on the main river in a Kayak. Nice fish BTW.
  4. I've used a Dobyns, Champion 705, 735 and a Loomis BCFR 954 GLX for Carolina rigs... I like the loomis best because it is longer, the sensitivity between the rods is a toss up.
  5. No I think there are better lines out there. I like sufix mono personally but honestly haven't spooled a reel with mono in quite a few years. Mostly it just gets used as a leader on my topwater rod that's spooled with braid.
  6. Dale Hollow is on fire... heading up tomorrow night for the weekend!
  7. thanks RW I will give it try tonight.
  8. that is my general rule of thumb also just thinking the rapala knot may give the jerkbait a little extra action. I always waste a lot of expensive FC tying a palomar though with bigger baits which is another reason I asked.
  9. Does anyone use this for jerkbaits? How does it do with flouro? does it burn the line?
  10. I've been throwing it on 20# yozuri hybrid this year. No problems so far, only lost 1 rig by getting it snagged.
  11. I have both and I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Just depends on what you want to spend and if you want full or split grips.
  12. It sucks I blew most of available vacation days this week with the Flu, I'm still going to try to come down Saturday morning if I can.
  13. I don't think its illegal to mount it on the boat. However, if you plan on insuring the boat they will have an issue with it.
  14. I have both and love both of them. For jigs and worms the cumara wins hands down. I like my 7' MH crucial for spinnerbaits, blades, and soft swimbaits. I think its better for moving baits, but its plenty sensitive for jigs.
  15. I'm going to do my best to make to it down at least Saturday morning. I've never fished Wilson but have always wanted too.
  16. This was the first BAM I had purchased. It's never been on the magazine rack around here. I was very impressed with their articles and the winter tactics has been very helpful. I love throwing the float and fly as well as the blade baits and jerkbaits in the winter. I think I will buy a subscription, it's gotta be cheaper than $7.99 an issue.
  17. I've got some magic eye #6 shortshanks, and some #4 KVD's already. l put 2 kvd triple grips on a pointer 100 and sank like a rock. I suppose going down a size would make it float, then i could put some suspend dots on it if I had to.
  18. My first pair ripped at the thumb seam after only a month. I was not happy but Simms made it better and sent me a new pair after I sent them a couple pics of the tear. Even got to kept the old pair. They are very warm. I really do like them even with the issue.
  19. I don't see many #5 available, even TW LC replacement hooks weren't available in #5. If I go up to say a #4 gama round bend or down to #6 KVD what kind of differences can I expect? I'd like them to still suspend after changing the hooks.
  20. Ok thanks J
  21. I'm using the Simms foldover mitt's they are awesome. Pricey but well worth it IMO.
