  1. Helluva afternoon. If that's a decent day in your world, I'd love to roll with you on a good day.
  2. ^^^I use a really thin sliver of electrical tape laid long the width of the spool.
  3. I have a purple alphas on that same rod. I run 8lb yo zuri. It's a really nice setup for small moving baits.
  4. I KNOW I woulda crapped myself
  5. Nice score! You're gonna love that reel. I find the alphas and the cores to be quite comparable in throwing light baits. Seems that the alphas takes a little less effort but a little more thumb. It's a fun little reel to pimp. First thing I would do is change the drags to carbontex---it's a very noticeable upgrade in smoothness. The bearings are just as easy to change, but you'll need a tool to pull the spool pin out. I really like the hedgehog tool. You can also add PXR gears and clicking drag/cast control. I'd say fish it for a bit before you paint it; Chances are you'll be buying a purple 103 before too long anyway.
  6. Use a lighter or even better a heat gun. Should melt the glue/epoxy and then slide it off.
  7. We did just that. Probably spent 2hrs trying to snag it. It was sickening to say the least.
  8. That sucks, but don't feel too bad. I'll bet they fix you up. A couple weeks ago I dumped my 844GLX/Core 50 in about 50 fow. I almost puked.
  9. Dude! Looks like you guys had a blast! Thanks for sharing.
  10. I'm one of the few that hasn't had an issue with E21 rods. I fished one hard and heavy for awhile and had no problems. Sold it to a buddy, and its still at the top of his rotation. That said, I'd be very reluctant to buy another due to the poor service that many have received.
  11. I always used my recently deceased MBR844. Gonna really miss that stick.
  12. It is a fantastic upgrade and also not too tough of a swap. I just did one of mine along with adding carbontex drag washers. Looking to add clicky's before too long.
  13. First off, welcome to the forum! Secondly, the answer to any "do I need?" question is always unequivocally yes! Rationalization and reasoning need not to be considered. Unleash your inner monkey and begin accumulating!
  14. I've been fishin em for years, though mainly for whites and hybrids. Like Crest Liner said, it's all about depth and speed. I remember when they came free with Mann's crankbaits. I've got em stockpiled from that.
  15. Idk if its the "best" I've ever used, but I enjoy fishing with the Daiwa Sol/Alphas more than any others.
  16. If it's a 200 series, I don't see why not. Those D Citica's are freakin tanks. Only one way to find out.....
  17. Knee mail sent, buddy.
  18. Thanks for posting this! I hate having to call in orders.
  19. I watch just to get my baseball fix. I can't help but shake that "preseason" feel. Last nights game did get pretty intense however. And yeah, blowing those d**n air horns should be ground for public execution.
  20. Last I heard, Nasworthy was about dried up. Ivie is a fantastic lake, but can be pretty tough to fish. It's also extremely low. I'd go to AH if I were you. It's a nice numbers lake for spots, and also has some lunker largemouth running around.
  21. A Patriarch XT looks good on ANY rod!
  22. They're actually a pretty solid reel. Like John said, it performs much better at 3/8+.
  23. I've used a carpload if different baits, but my favorite is the Reaction Innovations Flirt Worm.
  24. Fat Ika's. I've got a gallon zip loc full of em that's bursting at the seams
  25. No way is it too light. At that price, I would've grabbed every spool they had.
