Are you kidding me?? Two pages and nobody is trying to start a ticking match?

Shimano's better than Abu Garcia!!! :respect-059:

sorry, somebody had to.

I know why everybody is being so nice. YA JUST WANTED TO PROVE ME WRONG!!!!...lol.

Well, I think that is great!

I prefer shimano and daiwas. Ive used abu and lews. Actually giving lews another shot, just ordered the new lews bb1 pro. Looks to be a pretty sweet reel.

I would fish abu mgx's, gen2 premiers, and rockets all day long. I just prefer smaller reels, and shimano's 50 size just sits in my palm so well.

I have Gen 1Revo STX's and Curado 200E7's. STX's seem to cast farther and retreive smoother and have a smoother drag so they do get more use. Both pretty top notch though.

.Did I ever mention I have a thing for Japan made shimanos

this is like asking which is better a blonde or a brunette.  Everyone has an opinion then someone will chime in that they like red heads more.....they are all decent but i have had good luck with my shimanos so that is what I choose to use.  My buddy likes Abu and that is pretty much all he uses and neither of us have any complaints.

Then someone else will chime in they like Brazilian women (that's the spinning reel guy! lol)

I prefer Shimano by far. I have a MGX that I loved when I first got it but now I've seemed to lose interest in it. I have a Shimano Metanium MG7 that is stellar and used to have a Shimano Core 50 (RIP) that was probably the best reel I've ever used. Abu isn't bad though.

How did you know? Lol

Brazilian by birth or by uhhhh.....well, melted candle?

I also use both.... :Victory:

Each is dedicated to a technique, or strain.......

Tight Lines! :fishing1:

Hey RM,

What do you think about the Gen 3 Revo S reels?

  • Super User

It's easy ;)

I love round reels & as great as Abu's round reels are they aint even close to a Calcutta or Cardiff!

Given 2 products fairly close in quality and performance I'd pick the company with the better customer service.

Brazilian by birth or by uhhhh.....well, melted candle?

Is that a Brazilian wax joke that totally went over my head?

Both reels are great, but I think a Shimano reel hold it's value better over time.

Hey RM,

What do you think about the Gen 3 Revo S reels?

Have seen the inside of every Revo in Garcia's US line.

It's Personal Pref.... :eyebrows:

Tight Lines! :Victory:

The only reason I like Shimano over eceryone else is they aren't gaudy, and they're the diesel truck of fishing reels. Last forever.

The 3rd gen Revo STX felt cheap and had too much chrome.

1 name ----> Mörrum

What Katsutaka Imae uses to fish.

I own six different Abu's, including a 1600 Morrum jdm that I bought last month, and six different Shimanos, including a Calcutta 50 DC jdm that I also bought last month. Both companies make some outstanding reels and some fair-to-middling reels. I did my homework before I bought, and I wouldn't give up any of them.

My to-buy list for the next two Black Friday sales consists of a Shimano Calais DC, an Abu MGXtreme and a Daiwa Steez EX. You can't get much more eclectic than that.

I use Shimanos. Scorpion xts, Metanium mgs and Antares. Love them all.

Do you have a specific question rather than which company is better? Maybe like 2 reels in the same price range that you're considering of purchasing?

I have shimano , ABU and lews...I only drive ford lolol
