A T-rigged Strike King Rage Twin Tail Menace Grub came through for me again today. The fish were aggressive this evening, after today's cooling, aerating downpour.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

It's been tough around these parts lately with the high temps. So I'm happy with these 3, despite the size. One on a lipless crank, two on black/red flake Senko.

I had been struggling with my Senko hooksets lately, as I have always kind of used them as a last ditch effort. However, thanks to this forum, the sweep hookset is working like a charm. I also stepped down to a 2/0 offset hook from a 4/0 offset wide gap.

The fish on the left came out of a separate pond from the other two, just 5 minutes down the road. I found the difference in their color interesting.

More Yak fishing for me yesterday. I took a rare day off as the weather was almost perfect for a day on the river. A little hot but very little wind.

I ended the day with 11 fish, 8 Smallmouth and 3 Largemouth. All caught on a red shad Senko or a watermelon/redflake Biospawn Exostick.

The two best fish were over 2 pounds, one Largemouth and this Smallmouth. Even with half a tail he put up a heck of a fight including one jump that almost stopped my heart as that was the first look at his size I got and the thought that he shook the hook.

Didn't have very much time to fish last night, actually debated not even going. I'm glad I made the decision to go. Caught 6 5 of which were keepers including these two big girls

Every once in awhile, you need to get back to basics and hit a farm pond to get your confidence back .

Back out on the bank for 2 hours after work this evening. Major cold front moving through the state last night and today with highs mostly in the 60s and W winds, along with a rising barometer. Still managed to land 38 bass, so a good trip. Better water clarity than last week helped, I believe. Here's a couple:

One last pic to reiterate my thoughts on tackle management from shore...a sneak peak inside my tackle box for tonight's trip. It's in both pics, but you can't see it tucked away in my t-shirt pocket - mobility rules!

After almost 2 weeks without being able to go fishing, had about a couple hours to wet my line this evening after work. Could only go to Lake Buhlow, not exactly the best fishing there, to get my therapy in. Tried out my new Zoom Centipedes, Ultravibe Speed Worms and the Ol' Monsters. Didn't get any bites on the Centipede. Got a couple bites on the UV Speed Worms including one that snatched off more than half the worm all the way to the hook. Was using Gammy 2/O EWG offset hook. Took that off and put on a 4/O Gammy EWG offset hook and the Ol' Monster. Caught this 1lber, I know he ain't that big, but he took that big worm pretty aggressively. It was right after a little drizzle of a shower. Even though I didn't catch a big un, I was thankful to land this little guy. Any bass beats no bass any day.

Great pic!

:happy-111:

Thank you sir! Was kinda hard to get the whole fish in a selfie...lol. I let him go so he could grow up to be a big un one day. We're heading out shortly to do a little more fishing before the rain gets here again. Supposed to rain practically every day this coming week including today and tomorrow. Hope I can get a good one today maybe more. I'll be happy just being out there though.

Happy I got to go fishing. Unfortunately there was a kid's tournament going on at the time we got there. Not wanting to just drive around to another lake, only had limited time today, we stayed and tried to stay out of the kid's way. I found what you'd think was a pretty prime location from the bank to fish from. I mean the water was clear, a nice little breeze, there was a big tree laydown, I could see what appeared to be a drop off about 2 ft out from the bank and bait fish everywhere around. With all that I still got skunked today. I threw about everything I had and the only thing I could get bit on was the Ol' Monster junebug red and only the bait fish were hitting it. Tried it fast, slow and in between. Mixed up retrieves and still only bait fish hitting it. It was even fairly shady in this location. Not sure what I did wrong, if anything. Oh well it was nice being at the lake regardless.

If you take a look at all my past catches, you'll see a trend that continued with today.

Dinks for days. But at least they're biting. Lipless crank, black/red flake Senko.

Chalk up another one for the junebug red Ol' Monster! I know this ain't a big un, but it's a pretty bass. There's a pond about a 30-45 minute walk from where I live. I've heard there isn't any bass in it so I haven't been there but a couple times before this evening. When I was there before I had very little tackle and lures to try. Now I have a decent amount of both and since my girlfriend left for her vacation this morning and I can't drive until I get my DL back I decided I wanna fish and that pond is the closest body of water I can walk to. So I walked there. Not long after getting there a couple kids walked by and asked me if I was catching anything. I told them I just got there and haven't had any luck yet. I asked them if there were any fish in there and they replied yes. I asked if there were any bass in there and they replied yes. They also said one of them caught a 4lber not too long ago there. That put a smile on my face and gave me added confidence I would catch something. Well I did. It was only about a pound/pound and a half but it was a bass. I'll definitely be back to this pond regularly. Pics of the bass and pond below.@Glenn thank you for the video on fishing big worms. Never thought of buying any before I saw that video. Now I'm hooked on them and it seems that's all the fish are biting right now anyways. Gonna get me some Magnum Ol' Monsters too.

Visited a friend in Baltimore and we went fishing at Loch Raven on a rental boat. It was kind of rough without a depth finder. Had a bite or two shallow, but everything else was 20-30 ft water. No luck with black/blue jig or watermelon/red worms. They seem to only hit shad color baits (drop shot fluke + vertically jigged swim jig). I didn't think they could even see color that deep.

I guess deep water bass fishing could be fun with the right gear and technology, but Florida seems simpler. Bass were about 1.5-2.5 lbs.

Walked the banks for a few hours tonight and caught 8 or 10, all dinks. Forgot my jerkbaits, so the fish had a rather easy time.

The biggest and the smallest.

I know this ain't considered slaying them, but for me it's very exciting. Can't seem to find where they all are. Just one at a time...lol. I've now caught 3 bass in 4 days. Add another one to the list of junebug red Ol' Monster catches. Caught this earlier this evening back at Lake Buhlow. Guess this lake is becoming slightly promising after all. I feel like I'm learning something from all you good folks on here. Thanks a million everyone, y'all ROCK!

First time out in a bit, was a numbers game instead of size thanks to the past couple of days of odd weather...

IMG_20170807_193501.jpg

Some catches from the past couple days. Largest was 3.25, second largest 2.3(bottom right). I had 3 spit the hook, which is always frustrating.

The 3lber hit the Senko before I could even close the bail. Just hanging out in about 6 inches of still water.

Took out the yak to my "home" lake, and caught twenty or maybe twenty-five (didn't keep track) in about four hours; which actually is only about average here (unless you insist on beating the banks).

Bunch of dinks, a handful of 2#, and two over 3#- one short and fat and the other long and skinny.

@CybrSlydr Gotta get that yak bro, the fish are waiting.

Man, those are nice fish!

Well, Here's our catch of the day and this big girl went for that weightless yum finesse worm green pumpkin.

My sister catch it and landed it.

After we got it to shore we felt bad as this bass was hooked a total of five times by all the holes in the poor thing.

After unhooking it we saw there was still a hook inside of it "not ours" and we pulled out our pliers and removed it.

After that first bite, Things went real south for both of us no bites/no nibbles/nothing.

As for myself, I've been in a rut, skunked, defeated and READY to throw in the towel.

I haven't been able to catch a bass or any fish in some time after making the switch to a heavier bait caster setup.

I have only caught two bass on this setup.

With that being said, It could be my line, lure, weight, heavy pressured fish, not really sure what to do now.

Regardless, Enjoy this catch.
