Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Holy Mackerel, Batman, that's a huge striper!

Now, to make you southern boys jealous: This morning, I rose, went outside, and cleared the driveway. Jelly? After all, snowblowing is so much fun and now that I put chains on my snowblower, I can even snowblow the woods if I want 'cause that sucker goes everywhere now.

P. S. - Alex, I bought three packages of the 4" Jackall Drift Fry.

Hey, we're switching to basketball to describe Alex? I didn't get the memo, however Jordan in the 90s is apt.

I wonder if Jordan talked to Mutombo like Alex talks to his bass, saying, "Stay down. Don't jump."

The BR gang should rent some pontoon boats, follow Alex from a respectful distance, watch, and take notes. I'll bring my binoculars and I urge others to do the same.

My "respectful distance" would the the other end of the boat!

Then I'm joining you in Alex's bow. I'll bring popcorn if you bring Thin Mints. We'll probably do a couple standing ovations, so let's not spill the snacks when we do.

Id bring maybe a Carolina rig or a really big jig 😎😎😎🥷🏼🥷🏼🥷🏼

I reckon I could find 'my' fish in his boat over there.

At this rate, we'll be sinking his little boat pretty soon.

I just wanna be the slow methodical Starsky to his fast and swimmy Hutch!  It ain't a big ask 🤣🤣🤣

@Pat Brown: Good thinking! We'll have to buy a new paint job for Alex's boat. Let's buy Alex the cherry too:

Got a couple hours in before dark. Cloudy , windy, cool conditions. It was sprinkling rain off and on, so I stayed close to home. Worked hard for 3 bites on the speed worm. Caught 2 of them…Got this one up in a laydown.

I went for a couple hours this morning before the wind got bad.   I didn't get big numbers, but I got big bass, at least by my standards.   I left the landing and went to a deep rounded point.  I saw shad, with some action on sonar so I deployed my trolling motor and caught a 3.2 pound Largemouth on my 3rd cast.   This was 20 feet deep.  I caught a couple small spots there then moved on.   I was idling down a channel swing where the main channel is really close to the bank and right at the end of some docks.   There was some shad at the end of the dock, and a dot on side scan under the dock.  I deployed the trolling motor turned around and skipped a jig under the dock.   A 5.04 pound Largemouth.  My first 5 pounder of the year.   It had eggs, but no real belly.   21 3/4" long but only 5.04 pounds.   No more action around those docks so I went across a small cove to a rocky point.   I picked up a 3.88 pound FAT spot right up against the bank.   The wind was getting up, making it hard to cast, and I had stuff at home I needed to do so I called it a day.   I'm off tomorrow but the forecast is for downpours and 30 mph winds.   I'm considering a bait monkey BPS trip tomorrow.

With these big bass, both striped and largemouths being caught, I think Alex is contagious and he's evidently communicable through BR.

MOTHER OF GOD that was an epic fight @TnRiver46, I would have been a nervous wreck after the first minute.    Congrats on a fish and memory you'll never forget.

@Woody B   My man!   That's one heck of a day and using great skill to catch them.     A true grinder like yourself earns every ounce of those slaunch donkeys.

Had a great day, caught 55 fish which is the most I can remember catching in a single day since I was a kid fishing a golf course pond for sub 12" Bass.   Big fish was a 5.4.   Caught some 4s, and 3s, but well over half the fish were sub 3lb fish.    Best 5 would have likely been around 20lbs.

This Drift Fry is really something else, today I both mopped and mid strolled it.   Also vertical jigged quite a few fish on the Vaults.     I'd say 30/55 fish came off it.    The durability of this bait is incredible.    The thing I never really mention is the fact that 2D sonar so many days is the most important piece of "tackle" in the boat, today included.   It's such a novelty catching fish from sonar alone, I can only imagine FFS makes the novel experience 100x better.

As I type it's dumping rain, and will be for the next many hours, it's also gusting 40-50mph, and then the rest of the week is equally unstable.  The fish and pattern will scatter like the few remaining leaves of our trees.    The puzzle will completely reset, and that's why we love these green fish.    You go from mainlining the secret truth of the Bass universe to wondering if all the fish in your lake died within a span of a month.

Made the first trip of the year to the power plant lake Saturday. Every report I've been hearing from there has been terrible. No fish and no size at all. I wasn't hoping for much, but actually had a really good numbers day, just wasn't able to find the big one I was hoping for. Still caught around 30, mostly on a Zman Big TRD on a 1/16oz head. They're not missing any meals.

I'm going to start my 2024 fishing with the Drift Fry. Alex is having so much success with it that I'm thinking of going out this afternoon. It will lie on snow atop the ice, but I'm thinking a twitch and pause retrieve might work. Even fishing it on ice might be better than fishing it in Alex's 50 mph winds.

As always, I love your fat fish, Officer 86.

First tournament of 2024 ended pretty good. Weighed 5 fish for a total of 12.30lbs on Sam Rayburn this past Saturday putting us in 8th place and giving us a small check. If we would have fished the BFL event we would've placed 30th.HeCkNDZtST0VA6EEzvKK3bNQWBZ9rhfNnTWjPvWGQIox219WohTVS7rvX_6tREYMBCGj_U1D3kJ7Rt-R8HYIjNdmLpj0MYPJiCqlnIgYUqPRp0l1HBpSw3u5VLy5uJaRKvVlg0PU1irjXgEmSBHk51A

It was pretty nice, 34-38 during my time on the water. Comparatively, it's barely supposed to make it to double digits this weekend 😒

I love seeing young men catch bass and there are millions like me. Keep it going, @benburkefishing!

I am so sick of this wind I could scream. Tried to go out today and backlashed on my second cast. I might not ever complete a 12-month challenge, January is impossible

Yeah the rain and wind really messed things up here too @thediscochef

Let's hope when things stabilize the fish are hungry!  😎😎😎🎣🎣🎣
