@Buzzbaiter's photos are professional-grade. I work with professional photographers all the time, so I know what pro-grade looks like.

Beautiful bass, @NorcalBassin!

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

@AlabamaSpothunter I was just passing through on a road trip, so unfortunately that’ll be the last time I end up in Alabama for a while. It’s a beautiful state though, so I’ll definitely be back sometime; I have unfinished business to take care of :)

I’m in TN right now. My next goal is a Kentucky spot, assuming there are any genetically pure spots left.

There are plenty, caught a KY yesterday in little river (not the one you fished, the one in TN). We have way more KY spots than Alabama spots in my area, Alabama’s have only taken a stronghold in the ocoee river and some of hiwassee river. Ocoee was nearly fishless years ago which might account for some of that

Finally got on a good bite yesterday here in Nebraska. Thunderstorms the night before...did not expect much as winds were dead calm at sunup. Got my first Musky in NE (and first in over 20 years)...on a Vision 110 jerkbait with 10lb braid, 10lb fluoro...with no steel leader. Hammered it on the pause, did the death-roll, but was hooked on the back two trebles.

Brother brought my 83 year old Dad to the lake about 30 minutes later (Dad likes to sleep in). He can't cast, so we jig and minnow for Walleye and panfish...and wouldn't you know it, Dad hooked in to a nice walleye that went 22" and just over 3 lbs. That was the biggest fish of the day!

Good hookset, and kept his rod tip high, worked that fish right in to the net! Most excellent!

83 years old and still fishing. Impressive! Your musky has beautiful markings, @DaubsNU1.

Friends, canoes, whitewater, fishing. You live the good life. Here's Frankie, the singer of "The Good Life," looking at you and wishing he were you:

P. S. - Going fishing this afternoon and tomorrow morning. Tomorrow morning's trip will be two, quick hours before the wind kicks up. This afternoon's trip will be the pond where I caught my PB.

Dropped my car off for brake job so only fished the bank for a couple hours. Wasn’t sure what the pond was going to be like after four days of rain that Noah would recognize. Pond was 100% full but no debris. Not that murky either (for a pond lol).

Started with a frog followed by a chatterbait. Nothing. Switched to a weightless TR with a Yum Dinger in green pumpkin. Only caught one bass. But it was my best fish of 2024 so far. A solid 4 lbs.

Going out in the boat tomorrow.

Some extra pics that didn't make my other post. Last pic is the storm that chased us off the lake with 2-4 foot waves & building.

Went out today to run the circuit, Gun Club, Old Reservoir and New Reservoir since they’re all within 5 minutes of each other.  New Reservoir was a skunk, but I didn’t really stay long as it was pretty crowded.

Caught 15 between Gun Club and Old Reservoir.  The fish were relating to submerged weeds lines adjacent to deeper water at the Gun Club.  While at the Old Reservoir I fished the upper end and caught them in the gaps, ends and holes of the weed beds.  The tips of the milfoil was just barely visible above the surface here.

I caught 2 on a square bill at the gun club all the rest were caught with a floating worm.

Got a few more in 3 hours today on "Lake 13"

Eight between 14" and 18", all in less than 2ft of water on a leeward shoreline flat; nothing doing anywhere else.  Keitech on a flashy swimmer and a weightless Zoom super fluke did all the work. Representative four:

Water temps were 64 when I got on at 11am. Saw a few on beds -- the spawn is about to be on. This is a small lake, but that still seems early.   I need to hit some of the bigger lakes in my next couple of trips as they catch up.

I continue to fish the pond where I caught my PB about three weeks ago, plumbing the depths where I hooked her and fishing the same depth in other areas, but failing. It was windy yesterday so I went up a river to get out of the wind. I was struck by how brown it still it is here. It looks like November and felt like it too yesterday. I managed 11 bass, but also saw an osprey, loon, Canada geese, red-winged blackbirds, and beaver. All the bass were tight to zombie weed shorelines and all were caught on my Keitech, although I did try five other lures: a beaver tail, strolling, Whopper Plopper, jointed Rapala, and squarebill. I'm going fishing again right now to my pond, which is a quantity pond. I need a break from fishing for another PB!

After working so hard to catch 11 bass, I hope I fare better in the three hours I'll have this morning. Fingers crossed!

Katie-2 observations from your posts. Your fish love keitecs. Do you know what their primary forage is? Sounds like you have it dialed in. Do you ever try a keitecs on a swim jig? Bigger profile but similar action, I'd be interested to hear if they'll bite it and if it's a larger average catch (although your average fish looks incredible and maybe hard to improve on)

'only 11 fish' 👀😎 you are blessed to have great waters. I think I've caught 1 fish in my last 15 hours of combined trips! Although I was hunting big ones, but catching is fun.

Always interesting to see how different all of our fishing areas are. One thing I've learned from @Pat Brown through local observation is how different each body of water is. One lake they'll love something, the next one down they won't touch it! I think the bait monkey talks to the fish. 😅

Hot and muggy with SW winds 14-20 mph. Really clear water made things interesting. Saw a few bass on beds along with a few roamers, but they were pretty skittish and non-committal. Finally figured out there was a better post spawn bite going on, and was able to put 10-12 fish in the boat, including a good one (over 5-1/2 lbs.). Water temps high 70s, and nearly a dozen rigs in the lot - a decent bit of traffic for a weekday.

Went to the pond after work and fished slow for a bit and got some nibbles but nothing solid.  It went up to 86° today so I figured since the sun was setting, better grab the frog.

Walked the bank hitting main structure and pieces of heavy cover trying to find post spawners and worked my way to a flat  near a bunch of people pan fishing and having a big party complete with boom box and screaming children.

I made a cast into the adjacent shade on a point away from other people's lines and walked my frog three times and this beautiful bass smashed it.....and my fantastic frog rod of 3 years.  RIP frog rod.

Saw a fish that  was 27" long and 10" tall and 10" wide laying eggs today on the new moon.

Snapped this picture.... incredible fish to watch.  So much character in her eyes and face and such a beautiful animal.

Hoping to get some more topwater action rolling tomorrow morning before work if the fates allow.  It's more fun when fish bite stuff like this for sure. 😁

Fat perch and a dinky bass.

Slow fishing yesterday.  Got in trouble with the wife trying to chase the skunk away before finally snagging these two.

Tied a handful of baits but a spinnerbait came in again to save the day.

Pad Perch - gone.

She hit right off a dock as the sun came up.  Had little bass blowing up on my braid a lot this morning!  Very weird and a new thing for me this year.

Missed on that got the frog for a split second but I think it was small.

Looking forward to hitting it after work for hopefully some more topwater action!

Tight lines to all today.

Well I stopped by maple lake after another 13 hour shift this morning. I caught 2 dinks and an upgraded dink all on a weightless fluke. I followed @Woody B advice and left after catching the upgraded dink and not making one more cast. I fished for 30 minutes or so. The smaller ones came along the bank and the larger one was hiding underneath the tree in the shade. Hard to believe that we got crazy storms yesterday.

Nice bass, Murph (@Jmurphy87). 13 hours...whoa.

Pat (@Pat Brown) just keeps catching and catching and catching.

Love that perch, @CastingClinic!

Of course, @Bazoo wins the day for taking a kid fishing.

Only three on "Lake 26" this morning; the best was this 16-incher:

Zoom super fluke again.

Quick trip out to the Crappie Hole today.
We had some T-storms roll through last night so there were bluebird skies, 80 degrees and 8 mph west winds.

Only caught two.  One dink with a paddle tail on a swim bait head.

The other fish I caught with a square bill.  I weighted it at 2.14 pounds making it my biggest fish that I’ve caught cranking. So far I’m pretty hit or miss with the technique but catching this fish definitely motivates me to keep trying.
