I should mention that my scent of choice is Prada Ocean

Yeah I like that stuff

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

It's Friday - may fish be fat and bite well friends.  Happy ending of week and tight lines to all.  😎🐦🎣

@Dominat0r: Dom, you're back! I've wondered (and worried) about you. Say, if I send you a coupon for a Filet-O-Fish sandwich, will you use it to feed that bass you caught?

@thediscochef: Given your Viking warrior looks, I would have guessed that your preferred scent would be Eau de Pillage.

Very quick river trip yesterday evening.  Lost a bigger largemouth when my spinnerbait arm finally gave out leaving just a single piece of wire and two lonely blades dangling.  Well, at least my knot was good.

I’m late to the party - looks like I missed some good fishing.

@Bluebasser86 Congratulations to Lake, on the board on what looked like a tough bite.  And to you for the win, of course. 👍🏻

@Dominat0r Sounds like you moved to a good spot, when you can fish every day.😎

I can’t remember where I left off here… oh yeah, was out last Saturday and Wes absolutely annihilated me at frog fishing.  Not sure I posted about that yet, it might have been too traumatic. lol

We went out to a new lake yesterday afternoon-evening.  It was too hot at the start and the first bay we chose was dead, but cooled a bit and the bite got decent after about 6pm catching 5-6 each.  I caught my first and biggest on a spinner bait, then was fishing a Spro Flappin’ Frog.  It’s a pretty neat bait, like a more subtle buzzbait in open water or fish it right in the pads like any other frog.  I caught a few on it, the first was about a 5# bowfin that gave me a great fight.  No pics though, he spit my frog in the net and the hooks got very tangled up.  I thought about picking him up for a quick photo, but he didn’t like that and I didn’t want to mess with him when there was hooks in the net so I just reversed the net in the water and let him go. 👋🏻

@TnRiver46 There are so many frogs with bells and whistles now, it’s almost too much.  But I was talking with the owner of the very excellent local fishing store I frequent about frog fishing and he was talking about the Spro paddletail legged frog as a great search bait.  He wasn’t trying to sell me one, but I said you talked me into it I’ll try one.  It’s got very sturdy hooks, casts very well due to its weight and even though I thought that bowfin destroyed it everything went back together like new.  I’m not sure if I have any other Spro frogs, but I’m impressed with the quality.

I got out in the wee hours wed morning and did a bit of bass fishing. I figgerd I better catch a few to keep my BR membership in good standing. It's been awhile. I've been completely focused on muskie.

As I suspected, the bass have largely abandoned the shallow weeds for rock structure. It happens every August around here. I think it's because the gills are done spawning, and have vacated the area, so they move to rock and fill up on craws.

I caught about a dozen of these cookie cutter LM. The first one I caught off of rock spit up a good size craw onto the floor of my boat. The craw was alive and well.

Best bass of the morning came about 05:00 on a 5" tuff shad after I'd started cranking for muskie. That's one ambitious 3 pounder.

I also picked up a nice eye. It's one of the rare lucky ones that got released. Most of them get released to the grease. I knew I was gonna be on a long grind for muskie, and wouldn't feel like knocking the sides off of it when I got home.

Took a skunking on the skis.

HAHA, for real, they are starving it looks like. Good to see you to Crick, been a while.

I took last weekend off to rest, recharge and get caught up on some stuff I've been needing to do.  I'll be going early in the morning.  Hopefully I'll have some pictures to post tomorrow.

Haven't been fishing in what feels like ages. I think it's technically been something like a week. I just haven't had the energy for early mornings lately, and no time for evenings after work.

Sure is great to see everyone else's fish though.

Toilette. I got it before the eau de parfum was released.

Ahh the un-luck of this. A kind lady at the ulta stopped me from getting Versace

I fished a few hours this morning.  I caught 11 (kinda LOL).   9 were between 13 and 16 inches.  The other 2 are my new "PW" (personal worst  LOL).   (one is the center picture)  I didn't weigh them.  I need to get a smaller scale.  Both of the 3 inch Bass were hooked through the mouth.  Were they actually attacking a DT6?   It's hard to tell on Bass that small, but I'm pretty sure one was a Spot and the other was a LM.   One of the 9 "real" Bass came on a DT6,  a couple on a shaky head, and the rest on a spinner bait.  The lake/water was....strange.   We had a BUNCH of rain ~10 days ago.  The power company lowered the lake some before the storm.  During and after the storm it got up nearly to spillway level.  (normal level is 3 feet below spilling)   They kept moving water through all the lakes quickly.  It's back down to normal level now.   So in less than 2 weeks it's down a couple feet, almost spilling, then back down to normal, with a BUNCH of water going though it.  The water color varies from dark green, to brown to almost black.  It smell bad in some areas, similar to the fall turnover.  It's hasn't turned over, water temp is still 84 degrees.  I'd just say it's really mixed up.  There were big lifeless areas.  In areas where fish were they were concentrated.   I'll go again tomorrow just before Sunrise.  I was on the lower part of the lake today....going up river some tomorrow.  There was nothing floating today, but I wouldn't be surprised to have floating debris in the upper section.

Here's Woody in the city frustrated because they called in the Air Force (again) to cite him for jaywalking:

Did some paddling, caught a few! Been finding lots of paw paws, think my wife is going to make ice cream with them. She tried to make a pie years ago and didn’t like it, so I got to eat the whole thing. Poor me

Prefishing for a tournament Friday and for once was actually catching fish on a crank bait like I knew what I was doing. The Besotted squarebill caught probably 20 fish that all looked like they hatched from the same nest.

It's gotta be a fluke...you're just not a cranking kind of guy, man

Nice catches there, and good luck on Friday.
