@bp_fowler, congrats on christening the canoe!!! That front you mentioned left our waters the opposite of clear, looks like coffee w creamer

A lot of the spots around here are the same.  I wish I had some kind of smart sounding explanation as to why this place wasn’t but honestly I haven’t the foggiest.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Probably my biggest smallie bag ever and definitely my best shore bound, city bass day.  Ended up with only 8 total, but 7 were definitely 3+lbs with 2 that might have exceeded my 20" 5lber from the late 80's.  I'll obviously never know. but I'm fine with that.  The great lakes finesse juvy craw, 4" berkely power drip in perch, and a 1/2oz spro bucktail jig getting the 2 biggest.  The biggest fish were pretty beat up with sores/wounds, must have been a tough winter!

Biggest frog bass of my life today on the Bronzeye 65 in clear chartreuse.  59° water.  Caught a 3 lb male on a grass transition in about 3 feet of water moving back into a pocket. (Pictured here)

and a little voice inside my head said shut everything down and slow WAY down in that pocket and on the first cast under a shadeline into inches of water next to some submerged wood - this beautiful 9 lb 3 oz giant hit on the first twitch.  I didn't wait for nothing.  Swung hard and she launched herself into the air instantly.  I could feel her weight fast - it was like fighting an angry stump on the braid - somehow I managed to get her head up and keep her pinned and into the net she went.  Last day of practice for Saturday's big bass bash was really fun.

Great line about a great fish.

@Pat Brown: Your little boat looks a lot like Alex/@AlabamaSpothunter's boat.

You both do so much more with less. @pdxfisher too. And @softwateronly is on the shore! And there are others who catch more with less.

@Pat Brown Brown rhymes with crown. You get one!

I had about an hour today and I caught 1 1/2 fish.

Here's the "1", which was 1.5 pounds or so.

IMG-3353.jpg

The "1/2" was a similar sized fish that took my lure, but managed to not get the hook well and then jumped and spit my lure in grand fashion. I'd rather have a jump and spit than about any other way to lose one.

Caught my first ever rainbow trout(first trout ever matter of fact) yesterday and it was my second time fly fishing ever. I know it's not big but it's another species off the bucket list.

Less than ideal conditions here today as yet another fake spring bites the dust.

Two casts in and I hook this fish.  Texas rigged craw for the win.

@bp_fowler: Another beauty for you! Is @Pat Brown selling his mojo on the open market now? Was that a canoe bass or shoreline bass?

If @Pat Brown were selling his mojo I’d be willing to pay top dollar to learn the arcane art of the frog.   🐸 🥷🏻

Shore bass, winds gusting up to 30mph today.

Whoa. Next week, you'll be posting five-pounders you caught in a tornado.

"I don't know why no one ever thought to cast into a tornado," you'll explain. "They are water and suck up all kinds of things, bass included. However, I'm still working on catching tornado bass with a frog."

Shorter casts and try to stay in the eye 😁

Anyone who knows how hard I've been grinding this spring/winter for that frog bass knows that was my trophy of trophies for the year pretty much.  Anything else from here out is icing on the cake.

Thanks for all the kind words y'all make me blush.

Frog fishing is basically simple - be dumb enough to keep throwing the Frog and eventually a big one eats it.  😂😂😂🐸🐸🐸🎣🎣🎣

I believe in BP. He can do it.

He'll say, "I'll fowler that twister, for sure! Those 'nado bass won't escape me!"

Got out on the water fo the first two times this week. Tues. I caught 10 all on a spinnerbait. Mostly dinks but hafd 1 about 5.5 shake off but got a chunky short 3-2 about 5 minutes later fo the best of that day. Today(thurs.) I only managed to scrounge up 3 bites,1 on a bladed jig and 2 on a spinnerbait. With one of those the biggest  weighing 5-2.
