Haircut is coming soon, I actually meant to get one yesterday but other things got in the way. Haven't had a haircut since Feb 2018 so it will be a change, but I'm tired of the brushing and how much shampoo/conditioner it takes.

I have a pretty righteous pic of my hair down, but gim might have a stroke if he saw it.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Don't be mean, man....mine is all gone due to chemo and I need reminding of what a full head of hair looks like.

Gim's the one who needs to be cut off at the knees. ;)

Home lake has a ton of standing timber, lay downs, etc. It also has really nice brush piles off shore and away from the timber. I struggle to catch fish off-shore on these brush piles. Have burned a Rapala DT-9, and caught a few.

This spring I tied on a tried and true lure / presentation from way back in the 1990's...seven inch, blue-fleck power worm, 3/16 oz. bullet weight, pegged, and a 3/0 EWG hook. This was my GO-TO presentation for many, many years. I just love that "tap...tap..tap!" when the LMB picks up that worm.

Yesterday I decided to work the brush piles with the Pworm. Depth around 14'...brush piles are 8-9' below water.

Landed a 16", and 17-3/4" back to back. Good times!

Love it! When I got into bass fishing hard this spring, I went right to the (to me@43) “classic” “old school” 7” Berkley powerworm. It’s gotten plenty of nice, solid bass this summer. I grew up in the 90’s and the power worm was a staple then. I started this season with the black and Motor oil from my youth, but ended up settling on two colors; Electric Grape and Blue Fleck.

Purple is my confident, go to color with soft plastics for largemouth I’ve found. It works nearly all the time and very, very rarely doesn’t. So purple power worms it is for me

Went out with two of my sons yesterday late afternoon.

Caught this lovely 4.5-4.75 pounder on a microjig hook

(the skirt had come off) with a 4.75" Zoom finesse worm

rigged wacky. She settled on the 4.75 mark on my Boga

after calming down. Fought like a beast ripping drag off

my Stradic 1000 with 10# PP and a 6# Gamma Edge

Fluoro leader. Nerve-wracking as I caught her at a

submerged laydown. Happy to be out on the water again.

I fished my pond for two hours this evening. I only caught four, but three were fine fish. My 2025 total is 1,064 bass. I don't know why the bass aren't hitting more. They are tricky! Other local anglers are struggling too.

May kinda hold back on sharing latest catch pics. Had a negative experience on an outside media forum. I admittedly overestimated the size of my last catch and something they said both kinda set me off and made me want to start holding my catches to myself. They told me "it must be his down syndrome telling him that fish was __ lbs". I mean sure, I quite likely did overestimate it, but in my excitement and rhe way it fought, I couldn't help it. I mean it's one thing to tell someone they got it wrong, but to (he absolutely was not joking) to say someone has a mental condition that causes them to overvalued their fish is uncalled for. Unfortunately there is bullying in the fishing community, and i certainly am not the first, nor will I be the last victim of it. But I do think I will quit sharing as much, just for my sake.

Think nothing of it. The floor for intelligence to go fishing is quite low. Unlike some hobbies, literally anyone can participate. That in itself is just fine, but when they're stupid too, well...To prove it they do things like leave truly absurd product reviews and say beyond dumb and sometimes cruel things on FB groups and fishing forums. Don't let them regulate your pleasure. We're mostly men here, so occasionally things might get a touch salty, but very few of the regulars are truly arseholes. Those who might be are at least smart enough not to launch personal attacks.

@BluegillsTightlines Don’t even sweat that at all man, seriously. It happens and look at the bigger picture; you’re still getting excited and having enjoyment. All I can really say is **** that dude, he probably doesn’t even catch fish. Plus, the biggest talkers are the smallest walkers…

@BluegillsTightlines

1. I think everybody has overestimated the weight of a fish during the excitement and adrenaline of reeling one in. I know I do it almost every time.

2. It’s that giddy, childlike joy and excitement that so many of us go fishing for in the first place!

3. What the person said actually says nothing about you, but it does say a whole lot about them. Pity that fool.

Like PhishLI said, don’t let them regulate your enjoyment!

Dippin a Fat Ika in shallow wood resulted in 9 lil' chunkers yesterday.  The best part of the day was when I was tied up to a tree having a snack when a Green Heron came hunting along the bank.  Watched him for several minutes.  He moved so smoothly, each step so deliberate.  Reminded me of a time when I could hunt like that...40 years ago!  Now I stumble on a crack in the sidewalk!

The person who did that to you is a horses ass.  Keep your head up, you are a good fisherman!

The YouTube anglers do it all the time:

"It's a five-pounder! It's a five-pounder!"

Then, on the scale, "It's four pounds, two ounces."

I do it too, just the other night. I hooked a bass at a big bass spot. It was dusk. It jumped, gills flared, which puffs a bass.

"It's a five-pounder!" I yelled.

It wasn't.

Anyway, you're a shore angler, @BluegillsTightlines. That ups your level of difficulty. We're not all playing on the same field. For example, @PhishLI's ponds are being emptied by the Bucket Brigade who keep everything they catch and there are literal gangbangers skulking on the shores. I, on the other hand, am fishing less fished water with less pounded bass, making my catching easier. Plus, I have a boat. Plus, I have easy access to the two ponds I primarily fish. If @IcatchDinks had my advantages, he'd have to change his screen name to IcatchChunks.

I urge you to keep posting pics of your bass here and to quit that other forum. If that bully wasn't banned and if others didn't rise to defend you, he's not the only problem. That forum is poisoned.

Sounds like Reddit.
Social media and some of those who use it will attempt to make you feel worse about anything positive you achieve in your life. There will also be people that applaud you.

I especially liked @Jar11591's response, so I messaged him to tell him that and also told a story that I think is worth repeating:

We all do get excited and overestimate. I used to musky fish with a woman who landed a fat 54-incher, which was a HUGE musky, but she got the girth wrong when she first shared her catch, posting an impossible girth, and then, even though she had photographic proof, she was mocked. It hurt her, just as BluegillTightlines was hurt, at the very moment both should have felt nothing but joy. Here's that fish:

MuskieFIRST | Let's Talk BIG Muskies! » General Discussion » Muskie Fishing

Then, when she was speaking at a musky expo, a drunk guy in the rear of the audience was claiming that he'd caught her fish. He was in the boat, but he hadn't caught it. Again, what should have been a proud moment was curdled by the attention-grabber.

Yesterday evening when I fished, my best moment was watching an osprey dive on a bass and rise with the bass in its talons. There were two other boats on the pond and I asked two guys in the motorboat if they'd seen the osprey fishing. They hadn't. C'mon, guys, look up. There's more to fishing than just us catching bass. We can watch flying anglers catch bass too!

Another thing you can do is simply undersize your estimations. That’s how I typically approach fish size, I’ll guess low just to be on the safe and humble side of things. You simply have to remember it’s modern society and it’s the internet; both full of ish!

"There's more to fishing than just us catching bass. We can watch flying anglers catch bass too!"

Katie, not only does awareness result in pleasure it results in making a better angler!

Paying attention pays dividends. One reason the kid catches as many bass as me is because he sees the things that many miss.

I'll ask, "Did you see that?" when a bass just plucked a bug off the surface.

"Yep," he'll always answer, and he's not fibbing, for he'll cast right where the bass just fed.

I've never found any type of bullying here - oh we jokingly take little pot-shots at each other, but it's all in fun. Bullying about a catch - Glenn and others would knock that off the site so fast it'd make your head spin.

Don't stop on account of morons on other sites....we celebrate all catches here...like a thread we had about the 'monsters' we caught....this was my contribution to the 'monster thread'.

Mike Iaconellie would hold that fish up and run back and forth in his boat from bow to stern hollering "Its a GIANT! Its a GIANT!" He'd put that one in his live well for weigh in!

I have one rule here - treat others with respect.  If a person can't do that, then they're quickly shown the door.  And that rule is strictly enforced.

Don't let past experiences ruin your future experiences.  You've found a new home.  Now enjoy it.

Well...ok....2 rules. The other is No Spamming...at all...in any way whatsoever.

So now that we're good, let's get back to showing off those catches - big and small!!
