Luckily we hung out with some friends and ate pizza and burgers after work, that was much more fun than carpet glue

See, you saved the day again, your highness.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Couple from the past week. It’s been hot as heck but fish were biting. Either on a 10” worm or a jig. They seem to strongly prefer one on any given day.

Went out for about 45 mins tonite after dinner. Brought one spinning rod. Didn’t even bring my bag. Trying to not upset my elbow lol. Mostly went out though with a goal. Caught 3 on a jig skirt that I tied myself. Pretty cool feeling!!!

Fished with my wife for a few hours, she was catching them on a fly rod and janky popper that I tied years ago.

Holy crap, I didn't think spouses touched fish.

I'm currently in the "Can you get this weed off?" stage.  LOL

@HawkeyeSmallie, fish don’t bother her a bit, she even likes snakes. She’s got a big snake tattooed on her leg

Oh dang, she's braver than me then!!!!!   :)

I HATE snakes.

My wife insists she needs gloves to hold a fish. I like her to go with me so I might have to get some for her. Don't like the idea of using gloves though as it seems like they would take a bunch of their protective slime off. I always wet my hands if I have to grab a fish by the body.

Disclaimer: I actually don't hate snakes, they actually fascinate me. But if they are close to me and try to bite my jugular vein I HATE THEM. I prefer the big slow kind.

Dang those are some SOLID fish.

How did they get so thick?!?!

I was expecting you to be from California or something, not kidding.

I don't know much about Maryland but apparently they grow big bass over there!   :)

I guess as far as bank bassin’ goes, I’m on a roll somewhat. I was gonna try an early morning run for a change, but didn’t get on the water till after 8. It was quite flat, sunny and kinda warm.

Things were quiet for a bit, but I knew not to force baits and decided to stick to the senko bite that’s been steady, but downsize to 4” and wacky rig only so I could throw to the far bank and twitch/pause back. After missing two good bites with a t rigged standard senko, the adjustment proved correct as they started choking it. My next best bait was a 1/16oz Texas rigged pre-rigged worm with the hooks removed. The bass that ate the worm were right on it and ran like crazy after grabbing it. I love that feeling as you reel up the slack and know one’s got it!

@JonB2: I am amazed at what you catch off the bank. Cool that we both wacky scored today!

@VolFan I Arrived on Lake Menderchuck this morning to find wicked dirty like coffee colored

75 degree water.  Weather wise -  Abundant Rain was the theme.

Before, during and on the way home from this one.

Been a while since the bilge pump's been running on the Pro-V Bass.

No brown bass were to be found so I ditched my conventional approach

and went all in on the rattle bait.

Burning a MB Vibration X Ultra 5/8 oz got me a few Green bass and of course some slimer pike.

Peacock pattern from the fine art finish collection did all the damage.

I'll be waiting a bit before there's a return trip.

Need several seasonal factors to change before I'd expect any stout brown bass

to start showing up.

Maybe next week will be better.

@Swamp Girl I’m very grateful and happy with my action. It’s a unique and satisfying fishery overall and fishes well if you know your…

After I missed those two on my normal rigging with a bigger senko, my mind quickly said to downsize and be a bit more active instead of fishing the drop. I am curious if I would’ve stuck both those misses if I was wacky rigged 🧐
I’m gonna play around with a lightly weighted, wacky rigged finesse worm

If Andy keeps fishing for green bass, I'm going to focus on brown bass to keep the universe in balance.

You can't ask for anything more than that.

Got on the water at daylight and nothing on top water then nothing on a spinnerbait.

Went to Ned and caught several fish before the heat ran me off.PXL_20250730_131041304.jpg.550a137f768dd7d58e34247c691e3285.jpg

About the last thing I expected to catch on my before work trip below the dirty little city lake was a new PB Saugeye, but there it is.

That jig has had some good use.   :)

Nice fish but isn't that a walleye?

Yes it has, it’s pretty far past time to retire but it was rolling around the back of my truck with a wrecked mooch minnow and that’s what the fish wanted.

Saugeye look almost exactly like walleye, since they’re a hybrid between a walleye and sauger. Saugeye have the splotches and a very small white patch on their tails (sauger have none, walleye have a prominent splotch.)

It was violent thunderstorms and downpours right when I got home from work at 5…… waited it out, folded some clothes, weedeated the back yard…… finally the lightning went away around 7:30. Me and Josh hit the river for the last two hours of daylight and he was rewarded with a nice 17.75 inch SMB

a guy at work has been inviting me to kayak tournaments and gave me a measuring board, holy smokes is it hard to get a smallie to close its mouth. The first ten attempts looked like this and the fish went all over creation, the CPR business is hard on a fish 😂

IMG-3441.jpg
finally got it measured after it flopped on every inch of my boat, can’t imagine that in a kayak

And we got a couple blue mcgillis

Please inform Josh that the haircut police says he needs a trim.

This was between 4 and 5lbs. Didn't pull the scale out, it looked recently caught and it is HOT out here. At some point the scale is only so worth it.
