Double check when you see that "vegetation" growing out of fish.  It's not uncommon to see all sorts of stuff growing on a tag.

Awesome day on the water!

  • Got out for a short trip today. 7:30 - 11:30.  It was a balmy 31 degrees, with a cool refreshing breeze blowing 10-15 out of the north. The ol rock pile produced again, giving up a 40" and a 31". Gott

Think of it as my way of saying "I ain't scared". ;)

Lots of very recognizable landmarks on this lake, along with the fact that it's one of very few lakes in the state with the variety of fish. Not really a big secret unfortunately.

Quick let's all drive to Kansas to bass fish!

Oh wait...

One of the hundreds of bluegills that I spent the day on, this one came in at 9" and hit a soft plastic.  Fun times!

Bass opens in 2 weeks...the wait is killing me!!  lol

Gotta love the action. I use a little 5ft ultralight with 6lb test and nightcrawler pieces. They are in prespawn/spawn right now in northern IL. Big gill action is usually hot until father day.

My 2 1/2 year old hooked a 4+lbs. channel cat on a dock demon with light line with a worm over Memorial Day Weekend.  We fought it all the way up to the dock without a handle on the reel (fell off) by spinning the reel by hand.  As I got down to grab him, he broke the line and got away.  My boy did not like him getting away and spent the rest of the day yelling "Daddy, I want a catfish!!"  He already has the fishing fever!  We tried to get him again, but only caught bluegill the rest of the day.  Once he got the bigger fish, they just weren't as much fun.  You can see the direct aftermath of it getting away in the pic below.

That's what I look like when a big fish gets away too!!!!!!!

I feel for you buddy , that's exactly how I feel when I loose a big one.

I looked like that the other day when a big snook got off at the boat. Good thing is I had beer in my sippy cup

I like sunnies!

Warmouth, been catching a ton of them lately here and they're very brightly colored for the spawn.

Great thanks!  I was hoping that is what they were.  I think I have now caught every species of sunfish we have around here.  The Warmouth has been eluding me for a year or two now.  Such a great name too!

I bought a new 5 weight fly rod a couple of weeks ago and I think it came with some mojo. Some noteworthy catches so far include some of my biggest crappies and trout, and my first carp!

Went surf fishing again this morning at Vilano beach, near st Augustine. We got to the beach ramp ready to roll and found that they closed the beach for driving for a few months. So we couldn't fish our big fish spot near the inlet. So we settled for an alternative spot.

Once again got into the whiting except the average size was larger than last time. Also got some sharks, catfish,

Croacker, and small pompano.Something with some size loaded up on my cut bait pole but the hook pulled. Also caught the smallest fish I've ever caught in saltwater .Once again, got to enjoy quality time with my son,  put some delicious fish on the table, and enjoy the beauty of creation. Blessed man I am !?
