What are you guys wearing to stay cool and dry while fishing? I've got a polo shirt from Adidas that is a dri fit sweat wicking material and has vents in it, but I've only got one and it wasn't cheap.

Also looking for something that has a little UV protection and that doesn't break the bank. Finding something that wicks moisture, blocks UV, keeps me cool, and is affordable seems to be impossible.

I just ordered some Dri-Fit long sleeve shirts with SPF protection made by Haines from Amazon. They seem like they would be super comfortable but I guess we will see. Otherwise I'm normally wearing an angler type shirt and the convertible or zip-off pants that turn into shorts.

I thought about one of those, and I wouldn't mind having some logos of my favorite fishing products companies to show my support, but I kept reading about having "permission" or "authorization" to have these logos. Same with the bass resource jerseys. I'm not sponsored by anyone lol.

I have had very good luck with http://www.duluthtrading.com/  The  Men's CoolMax Cotton Longtail T Shirt is nice but my favorite is the MEN'S ARMACHILLO LONG SLEEVE COOLING SHIRT This isn't exactly the shirt I have I don't see them but it looks like a new version of what I have.

Very comfortable and cool and I do work outside in Texas all summer. They have held up very good the ones I have are 3 years old and not one thread has come loose and the colors still good. Not dirt cheap but as much as i work in them and they have lasted 3 years and easily have another year in them I will gladly buy them at $60 a shirt. (They usually always have a sale on stuff there) 

 

No jerseys for me. I have to have pockets. I use the long sleeve, quick dry shirts with the vents in the back. Most of mine are from Columbia or Bass Pro.

I have a few vented long sleeve Columbia SPF shirts that are great.  I burn super easily, so the sun protection is huge. 

Academy has Columbia and Magellan fishing shirts on sale all the time, the ones with built in sun protection. I get burned if the moon is too bright, so I have to keep myself protected and sunblock sucks so these type shirts are the best option for me. 

Go to tackle warehouses site, and go to the "apparel" and then "sun protection"  page.  my expereince from fishing in sunny souther california all year long would tell you this.  

the best? any of the simms *** longsleeve shirts.  any of the simms sun stuff is amazing.  i love the arm sleeves they make .  

next i would say aftco, and then columbia.  the missle bait face shield is amaizing too 

HUK fishing shirts are very comfortable and have vents inside of arms and lower back. Have SPF as well. You can also buy from them direct. Just my 2 cents

I wear any long sleeve that is SPF. I have several from Coolibar that I like. They have some nice polo type shirts that I golf in. I also wear a sunhat from SundayAfternoon. I wear shorts so I use sunscreen on my legs. Considering getting from gloves from Simms.

The under armour iso chill line (which I think is called cool switch now) is awesome stuff.  The material actually does feel cool to the touch and the shirts have mesh venting from the armpits all the way down.  They're pretty expensive at $65 a pop but I think cabelas might have the older styles for half off.

Been a long time fan of Columbia PFG and Cabelas Guide wear for most all of my performance fishing apparel needs.

Last season I picked up a few items from the HUK line up of gear ~ I really like it.

Cabelas & BPS house brands of fishing clothes work ok.    I 've got a couple of Columbia shirts that work ok.  The issue for me is that I like a "suit" look and finding a shirt & shorts set that match is an issue.  Not too many of them out there.   Living in Missouri, I find that the long sleeve fishing shirts & sunscreen work good for me.   I haven't felt the need to get the fishing gloves yet.

On the same subject, I had a fishing buddy who had to get his ears trimmed a little bit due to skin cancer - nothing serious, he is going to be ok, but it was a wake up call.   I remember to put sunscreen on my ears AND wear a hat that covers tham.   Last time I checked with my doctor he said that ought to be enough.

I always weat long sleeves. Big fan of nike drimax half zips and simms long sleeves. Ill be trying one of those vented HUK shirts this year. 

I'm generally not one to avoid the sun but when fishing for 12+ hours it's a necessity. I have a shaved head so I also need back of neck protection. I've been wearing the  AFTCO Samurai hooded performance long sleeve fishing sun shirt with a baseball cap. They are around $40. I got it for $30 at The Fred Hall Show. Very cool and comfortable.

I've got a couple of the Columbia SPF hoodies and I love them.  Cool enough, even in August, but loose enough to wear a tshirt or light sweatshirt underneath in spring/fall.  Around $26 each.

One thing to point out is that all of the special "Clima" or "Cool" or "Dri" technology clothing is basically 100% polyester.  You might see some that mixes in 5% spandex but it's almost always just going to be polyester.  You don't need to spend the $30-$40 brand name premium for those special quick dry "tech' shirts.  Check places like The Clymb or Sierra Trading Post for quick dri UPF rated polyester t-shirts and you'll basically be buying the same thing for half the price.

I posted in haste without looking up the science and edited my post so I don't mislead anyone.  UPF is what you want to look at and there's a lot of factors that seem to go into the UPF rating, from color of the material, density/thickness of material, and tightness of weave.  Every piece of clothing has some UPF protection but the ones that are rated by a manufacturer have been tested so you get some "guarantee", but that's not to say another piece of clothing that hasn't been tested doesn't offer the same amount of UPF protection.

I looked up some info on a few sites and here's a couple that sums up the clothing/UPF stuff pretty well, which I think everyone should spend a couple of minute to read because it's not as cut and dry as it seems -

I use cheaper technical shirts like Hanes Cool-Dri for other thing like Spartan races, etc. They work pretty good. I have worn them fishing. However, I also have a few "premium" shirts by AFTCO, HUK etc and they are cooler and more comfortable and look better (fit better). It's not like they make them. They are all sourced from China. I'm sure it's just the weave and cut but I'm fine with paying a bit more for a shirt that I'm wearing for extended periods is more comfortable. Problem is, you have to try them on to know what is comfortable on you. 

I wait for the Columbia PFG shirts to go on sale.  I like Dickies work shorts from the wall marts.
