I have a gut feeling they might be dropping the brand. Barely any restocks, and the 40% felt like a blowout sale. The hook up stopped stocking them as well. I love their legend lines but maybe they don’t sell enough to warrant their massive catalog.

Profit margin on St Croix is not great compared to many others.  Add in the goofy things they've done the last few years and it makes sense that companies are starting to drop them.

Also St Croix is way more popular up north than elsewhere. They are not in many boats down here and I remember tactical bassin saying nobody out west used them. They just tried their first ever St Croix 3 or 4 years ago

I guess everything you read on the internet might not be true...As an aside this took me about 14 seconds to fact check and for the record I don't love what they did to the mojo line since I hold my spinning rods with my hand below the reel, but I will go out on a limb and guess ALF isn't dumping St Croix and their warranty service is very good IMHO...on a side note some site called Sportsmans Warehouse looks like they have a decent sale on a Cashion core spinning rod right now...haven't tried one (yet) but it caught my eye.

My bad…must have been confused. I could have sworn they made a video about the legend tournament 610mxf a few years ago saying they were late to the St Croix party because they weren’t well known in California. I’ll hire a consultant to review my posts from now own…

I own mostly icons nowadays. Once you adjust to the carbon fiber grip you will love them. In my hands my icons are as sensitive if not more than my Dobyns dx’s. The core I have no experience with though

You’re not wrong. I clearly remember them saying that during a Christmas buyers guide a couple years ago. Might have been off hand, or speaking about a certain line of rods but Matt did say it.

They do this each year around this time and yes, $1.00 a pack for softbaits and hard baits at like $1.50 a pop isn’t unusual.

Yup also on Shimano reels as well! Just pulled the trigger on the new SLX 70A MGL. I haven't tried the code on Daiwa yet.
