My local dicks doesn’t do fishing any longer. Closest is about an hour and a half. Our dicks stopped selling fishing so they could have more store layout for Alabama and Auburn stuff ☹️☹️

That's a shame as Dick's started as a fishing tackle shop (as many likely know on this board)

Sportsman’s warehouse website has a bunch of their house soft plastics for dirt cheap ($0.77 per). Never used them but they look like standard molds used by brands like Big Bite Baits. Tubes, spider grubs, worms, Keitech style swim baits, beaver style baits, etc.

I was having trouble purchasing them in store. The store won't follow the website pricing, and I had to order online and pickup in store. But despite of that, and their "unorthodox" promotion email pic, the sales is legit.

Thanks to you enablers, I bought 17 baits from SW. Did some price comparisons before I hit send and worse case I saved about $90 and got free shipping.

I do think it is a shame that Dick's started as a tackle shop and now many deleted the whole outdoor department so they can have more room for gym clothes. I guess higher markup and larger target. 2 stores near me shut down the fishing department and now the closest is about an hour away. I do not darken their doorway anymore.

As I have posted in other threads, I grew up living less than 30 miles from the original Dicks' store in Binghamton, NY. As a kid I used to love going there and buying my fishing gear. They had a great selection and very good prices. No days, not so much. The original store is now closed.  The new mega Dicks' store in Binghamton has a very limited selection of fishing tackle. The next closest store (in Ithaca NY) has NO fishing tackle or supplies. Now days I shop Walmart for basic stuff, or go to Auburn NY to Bass Pro. That store will match any regional brick and mortar stores' price, but exclude on-line offers and only if the other store is in our region...so, no match on Acadamy, Fleet Farm, Tackle Warehouse, etc.  I also try to hit local mom & pop stores, but there are not many around my area, and the selection they have is pretty limited. My only other choice is to go to Elmira NY where there is a Sportsmans Warehouse store...but unless they are having a big sale, their prices are not very good, and it is up to the managers discretion if they price match or not. Depending on the manager on duty I can sometimes get a price match, but sometimes not.

Is this a legit site? No offense, just never ordered anything from there

Yeah West Marine are brick and mortar stores, been around forever but usually on the higher side of things...but again been around forever.

Never fished this rod before, but Dick's has the 13 Fishing Meta (6'8 M Casting) for $75. Regular $150.

Looks like they also have Diawa Procyon casting rods on clearance for 31.49, only $10 shipping. Not the fancy high dollar stuff but I'm a budget guy and like the Arid-x rods and thought why not for the cost pick up a couple...

It's actually worth it to scroll through their whole clearance section.  They have an Aird-X 7' MHF casting rod for $19.49, Berkley Big Game Lip Grip for $16, Aftco fishing gloves for under $10, and a couple different Plano Edge boxes for less than $15.

Unfortunately a bunch of that stuff, aird-x rod, gloves, are actually sold out. They don't do the best job cleaning up their site.

Here in the Dallas area, no fishing in the Dick's stores but their Field and Stream store is loaded. It shares a huge building with a.....forgot how to use English's. Too bad there is only one and it is almost an hour North.

We had a split Dick's/Field and Stream here as well until last year. Once they got rid of the guns and hunting gear they closed down the Field and Stream part and it's just a giant Dick's now, with more clothing taking up most of the previous hunting section.

They still sell fishing gear at ours, but I rarely ever go as they're just too expensive compared to the Academy less than a mile down the road.
