So generally speaking it's ok for them to run an auth to make sure you have the money. That should drop off and regardless of whether or not that happens they would then charge the card and if there was an auth it would be credited against that. What's not ok is actually holding someone else's money for months at a time. You could put that in a high yield savings account and do that yourself. If you think they are doing that my first suggestion would be to contact them and basically explain that and see what they say.

Thanks for the advice. TBH I don't mind this ridiculous business model that is actually taking a little advantage of customers like me, as long as they delivered the goods, but, like I said, I am not so sure about the delivery now. So yes, if someday before the next spring I'm finally tired of this waiting, I'll ask them for a refund first, then cc company if it didn't go throguh. I may be a sucker but I just really don't want to do this to this company. BTW their customer service communication turnaround are pretty quick, but the answers have been " please wait."

Just wanted to drop in and say hi to you all. I'm not as active 'round these parts anymore. Haven't bought anything in about 5 month. Haven't had the boat out in almost 5 months. Really sucks, but it'

Got a kick out of these huge markdowns.

Laws require pre-paid orders to ship within a specific timeframe.  If they don’t you’re supposed to be notified and given the option to cancel.  There are provisions for some orders, including ‘custom’, for which the requirement doesn’t apply.

In addition to those rod orders qualifying as for what might be considered a ‘custom’ item, providing a notice when ordering indicating the extended time frame for shipping probably satisfies the requirement.  That is to say, if you didn't want to wait you could have decided not to order.

If your order still has not shipped by the time period provided in the notice,  that is a different situation and one the CC company can probably help you with.

I don't know about the "custom" part, but when placing the order, I was notified that it could take 4 months to complete the order since it's deeply discounted price. I believe some of the anglers on this forum took the same deal as well, and had their rods in 3-6 months. I guess I'm the unlucky one, still waiting after 7 months. Let's hope they eventually deliver and we don't have to take the route you mentioned. Regardless of these nonsense, the rod quality is very good though.

Be prepared to wait 3-6 months

Edge has 30% off gift cards? I’m not seeing that…Link?

thanks in advance

I guess the main point is that you were informed and if you are willing to wait, then no action is required.  But if you’re not, then there is action available to you.

I buy plenty of blanks, actually nearly all my blanks, plus many grips and guides from the North Fork Composites side of Edge Rods, and yes, back orders are the norm but I don't consider it a problem: if it's not in stock but available for back order I know it will take months, sometimes many many months, until they make a run of that particular model of blank.

But the depth of selection in excellent blanks, great designs in carbon fiber grips, Fuji Torzite titanium guides...with frequent sale prices...make me plan ahead on the products I need or may like to try.

Whenever I order something and change my mind or change the specs for the planned build, they have always been happy to cancel the order the same day I request it. They're good folks and, as Gary says, actually making something of quality here in USA.

Hmmm, reading about these Edge rods got me interested to check them out.

When I go to the Edge website this is what I'm getting; Error 403 - Forbidden

The NFC site can be rather wonky for me at times, I'm sure the Edge side as well. FWIW, working fine for me in Firefox using either main link via Google or directly to edgerods.com. Maybe you're inadvertently using a link to a subdirectory??

Well thanks BayouSlide, I'm able to get there with Firefox, copy the link and tried it in Chrome and still get the 403 error .

Scheels has free shipping today on any order. No 50.00 limit to hit.

Yup, drives me nuts. I have the opposite problem: websites for Cabelas, Bass Pro and Academy don't function right in Firefox anymore (my preferred browser) and now only work in Chrome. ☹️

Edge rods are great, but ONLY order what they have in stock. My order of a Delta BFS rod was placed on May 1st, and so far in month #8, I don't know if they'll ever produce it before spring next year. And they are still stacking up all those back orders...

This is insane.. 8 months and you still have no rod.. insane. Ought to be a law against this. 😉

Kittery has a 30% off coupon right now. They have a couple Megabass Levantes in stock - $139.00

I'm sorry but that's just bad business.

There's not a rod out there that I would wait  > 8 months for.

Tackle warehouse has the Tatula 80 lefty for $149. I’m a shimano guy but these are very nice reels and super comfortable to palm.

https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/search-tackle.html?start=0&count=20&searchtext=Tatula+80

Eh you can pick those up from Shelton either on their site for ($105) or fleabay ($119) - https://stores.sheltonsclothing.com/daiwa-tatula-80-baitcasting-reel-6-3-1-left-handed/

It's a legit place that deals in overstock and they have been selling the Tatula 80's for a while now.

Good deal, I just picked up the 6:3:1 for $105, they don’t have the higher gear ratios available from what I see.

Wow I’m so happy I found this page as a resource lol. I just bought a MH/F Tatula xt on sale for $80, I was wondering what to pair it with. I guess I’ll some research on the 80 and see if it will work. Thanks

I have placed multiple orders for hooks, soft plastics, and lures at Tackle Warehouse's 12 Days of Christmas sale.

If you have a naked rod dress it up with this if you dont already have a reel in mind.

I grabbed an 80 from Sheltons a couple months ago, been hard not just grabbing another just because. But I really dont need another reel, just got a DMK Purelure Cheetah Air. 0 need for another reel

I just checked the line capacity on the 80 and I likely need something a tad bigger. Putting 50lb braid on whichever reel I get for the Tatula xt. I’d buy this reel “just because” if I didn’t just buy the sv tw 70 lol. This hobby is addicting.
