Heaviest bass of the board

Featured Replies

  • Super User

I'd like to know which board member has claim to the heaviest bass caught by a board member...  Not looking for everyone's personal best, not wanting to know about the one your wife caught, or your dad, or uncle Ned's best friend 7 years ago.  Only the absolute heaviest largemouth, smallmouth or spotted bass caught and weighed by a current BassResource member.  Don't even think of posting unless you can beat the last posted weight! Honor system will have to apply, but remember, Saint Peter was a fisherman and he'll know!

largemouth -- 19lb 3oz -- WRB

smallmouth -- 9lb 7oz -- Brian Schram

spotted bass -- 8.2 lb -- LTBAndrew

Guadalupe -- 1lb -- OCdockskipper

Who'll chime in quickly with a really impressive number! (This could be a really short thread)

I once caught a 26lb large mouth while fishing by myself. I didn't want the attention or the world record so I let her go. I've never told anybody this story until now. I'm guessing I'll win this for

WRB will win for largemouth, unless Bob Crupi is a member here under a different name.

Mine is 9.75 useing your criteria, but it is far less than some of these guys had for sure.

Yup. @WRB should probably take this one :)

I caught  one of the biggest Bass I have ever seen, the lake went down 2 feet when I pulled him in. But the game warden said I better put it back cause the lake was already low and some of the other fish may die. And I did not get a chance to weigh

it.

I did not understand the lake being low in the first place cause the Staunton River was so high you could walk up under it and not get ya hair wet.

  Man That is the best part of fishing  aint it ;)

WRB should be the winner largemouth at 19.3 lbs.

My biggest smallmouth went 7lbs-6oz.

I guess the guys from Maine don't have a chance! lol

I'm jealous of that smallmouth Dwight!!

Is Manabu Kurita on these boards?

This would be a lot more interesting if we asked who has caught the smallest bass.

I could at least compete in that one :P

Whell what had happened was I was shot down over Indonesia and all I had was cord from my parachute and a rusty spoke from a bicycle that was abandoned near the pond I came down next to.  Being that I was hungry and had no camera the giant I caught saved my life and I will never forget!!!

Not even close! I was up in the arctic circle on this secluded freshwater lake looking for the last dodo bird in exsistance and I came across this hole in the ice and wondered "how in the world did this get here?" I quickly found out when a polar bear popped up and he had this giant beautiful bass in it's mouth! Thankfully this polar bear had no teeth so the bass was still alive and intact. I kindly asked if I could have it and he slowly opened his mouth released the fish winked at me pointed to my camera....I handed him the camera he went back under so I had no camera for a picture. Oh well maybe next time! ?

If that's not a fisherman's tale I don't know what is!!!

Edit: true story though

Fish Chris also caught a 9 lb class smallmouth at Pardee, his bass are NorCal fish which makes remarkable catches IMO.

My top 5 FLMB;

19.3 lbs, 17.6 lbs, 17.4 lbs Castaic.

18.6 lbs, 17.4 lbs Casitas.

Still trying for that 20!

You gotta live and fish where giants live to catch them. I was blessed to fish Castaic and Casitas at the peak periods during the 80's and 90's.

Probably not but I do know for a fact Butch Brown was a couple years ago.  Unless Butch caught a bigger one I believe his PB is the same as Toms.

Is your 19.3 in the top 25?

No, it was released before being examined. If you notice the California state record is 21 lbs 15 oz, not 22.01 or 25.1 lbs, fish weren't officially examined by a biologist. Submitted all the paper work years later. Butch Brown's 19.3 isn't listed for the same reason.

Yea, but don't post them, search this site there are a few in some of the older PB threads.

Tom

Almost got to think guys like tom and butch we're excited with a 19.3 but with all the talk of actual world record bass in there area years ago that was probably the one they were waiting to have certified.

Mike long had close to a world record. I wonder if siemental has anything close to 20?

Is Lake Dixon still a hot spot like it was a decade or so ago when Dottie was swimming around?

No, our small trophy bass lakes get tremendous fishing pressure and rarely recover from peak population periods. If a lake is currently at peak you can bet it's being kept quite.
