Hi, What are some of your favourite colors for the rage bug? Also how do you guys like to rig it? Thanks!

White is #1, then PB&J, Alabama Craw and Okeechobee.  J-Rig and as a trailer for the Rage Blade.

Green Pumpkin ~

Makes a decent jig trailer and it's particularly effective on a swing head.

It's the head from the Freedom Lures Stealth Swim Jig ~

Allows one to use a variety of hooks also fishes around, over, under & most importantly, through  any cover effectively.

Yes!

Greens and Alabama Craw on weighted swimbait hook....more than any other lure or bait.... maybe more than all others combined.   I like the more horizontal fall...but sometimes on swinging jighead..sometimes trig....White on chatterbaits.

Great pitching bait, takes minimal weight for the appendages to flap

Texas rig and hold on tight.

Along with these two, I’ll add chameleon.

I use mostly blue craw and black and blue, mostly on swing heads.  Killer on Kentucky lake

Alabama craw on a texas rig for flipping. It doesn't hold up enough to work as a jig trailer for me.

My favorite pitchin bait. Four colors cover all the bases: Black-Blue, Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Red Flake and Okeechobee Craw. I also use it as a football jig trailer.

I have extremely clear water in my area rivers and lakes so I green pumpkin the heck out off all my soft plastics

green pumpkin

Junebug

California craw

I like it as a T rig flipping and pitching bait. I began to enjoy it on a C Rig as well.

I found it T-Rigged, weightless works well as a topwater bait over pads.

Rarely let it sink.

My best color by far is watermelon red flake. I pitch it on a texas rig with the weight pegged most of the time. Works great as a jig trailer too.

Don’t count out the Rage Tail Space Monkey either. I’ve gotten bit a lot on days when the Rage Bug just wasn’t working.

  • Super User

I think the Space Monkey is Big O's favorite.

I love the Rage Bug! I like to peg it on a flipping hook. I've also had a couple of good days with it as a trailer on a jig. I trimmed the skirt so that both the tail and side appendages have action. It looks a little funny, but it works! Chameleon, PBJ, and black/blue fleck are my colors.

Do you fish them on braid or flourocarbon?
