With Ike's new show premiering tomorrow night on Nat Geo he decided to hit the streets of Philadelphia to do some sewer fishing. Love him or hate him Ike is a marketing guru. He's pretty funny too.

Iaconelli has a new series on Nat Geo Wild premiering on Friday, October 12th called "Fish My City" that looks pretty interesting. The guy is such a character I'd bet it's good TV - at least compared to most of the garbage on TV today.

Here's Ike fishing a storm drain in Philadelphia: https://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/City-Fishing-Catfish-Broad-Street-Center-City-Philadelphia--496731971.html?_osource=SocialFlowTwt_PHBrand

Of course, this may be a setup to promote his new show. Love his comment about using a soft pretzel for bait to "match the hatch".

LMAO, that's great. I've always been a Ike fan

Right at the end he says 'I've caught a couple days, but I'm trying for fish's. Too funny.

How he managed to be so serious and not bust up laughing is beyond me! I'd love to spend a day with that guy.

Can’t help but wonder ... did he ever catch a sturdgeon.  (Sorry, but I’m old and my mind, when it works, works in mysterious ways.)

Ike is who he is. I'm a fan. "I Like Ike".

Surprised he wasn't run over by a bus.

Thanks for reminding me of this premier. I looked for it on DVR a couple weeks ago but it was too far ahead then I forgot. I just DVRed it. Reminds me of this classic.

I feel silly asking this, is it gonna be a real show.

Yeah, but more about just urban fishing. The first episode is about stripers near NYC.

Yes he did. I know he filmed a show here in Chicago

Filmed one near Harrisburg on the Susquehanna.

He should do one in richmond VA too.  There is a ton of in the city fishing here, i just don't do it because of all the people and well, class III-V rapids depending on water levels

That’s great! I walked by that corner a lot. We are big Ike fans up here.

I couldn't stand to watch Ike when he was younger doing break dances on the front of the boat and breaking rods during his anger rages, but now that he has toned it down a bit he has grown on me. I actually enjoy watching him now.

His shows in and around the Philly area were pretty decent. He keeps it for real. I've fished those same areas on the Delaware River and in toward the city. Decent mix of smallies and greenies. For the most part he is somewhat local to me. I've never met him though. I'm fine with the fact that he doesn't come off like a Hank Parkerish dude.

I see what he did there...

I have it set on the DVR, looking forward to watching his series!

Lol, a pretty good gag. I understand he rubs some people the wrong way, but come on -- sport fishing isn't Law Enforcement or Brain Surgery...it's recreation. And Ike positively radiates the pure joy of fishing in a way nobody else does.

At first I found it funny and amazing that nobody even the news reporter didn't know who he was! But then you stop and think about it and realize just how small our little fishing world is. Here's a Classic champ, AOY champ, Federation Nation champ, a guy who has won millions and made even more millions of dollars bass fishing and nobody knew who the heck he was. Pretty funny if you ask me.
