Hello from South Alabama!

Featured Replies

I've been bass fishing since I was 7 or 8. Still not that good at it, but trying to improve. It's always about improving. I'm looking for places to bass fish. Any other South Alabama fishers know some spots to drop the kayak in to fish?

Welcome aboard, Joseph!

I’m not in South Alabama, east central so I may be too far north for you.

Thanks all for the welcoming! The bass were rolling at Big Creek Lake today, just couldn't get a bit on anything my son or I threw. However, a bad day at fishing is always better than a good day at work. It really wasnt a bad day though. My son and I spent some quality time together and in the outdoors. It's not always about catching something, it's about building that bond and passing it down to the next generation.

Welcome to the forum. Alabama has very good bass fishing and has a couple very unique species of redeye bass.

Oh now you've done it - I think there are as many kayakers and canoeists (me for one) here as there are powerboaters.

Ask the questions - there'll be people who can answer.

I first fished from a sit in pelican kayak, and just recently purchased an Old town Topwater 106. I'm loving it, granted I've only been out on it twice now. I really love the capabilities of kayak/canoe fishing. I mean I don't have to tell anyone who already owns one, but it's so much better than sharing a boat with someone, even though that is still great to have close company. Anyone have any pointers on cold water bassing?

Yes I use a kayak for saltwater fishing and diving. Do not really need a boat for bass fishing in South Florida and I catch my fair share of big bass from the bank.
