Ok I am looking for braid line to use for 2 different styles of fishing. 1. For flipping and pitching heavy cover grass pads etc. I know ima go with 60-65lb I just don’t know what brand. And I am also looking for a brand that makes an easy casting but yet still have good abrasive resistance. I’ll be using it for casting jigs and such.  I’ll be using both on casting reels. And go!

To name a few. Some like 4 strand others prefer 8.

 

I use Power Pro and SS8, would try more but it's expensive.

I like Power Pro, has a little body (not too limp) to it which I prefer.

Sufix 832 is my braid of choice. 

 

Kastking braid dye sucks. Bought some once. Dye gets all over my hands.

I tried looking for this topic. Figured it would be easy to just ask. So basically go 8 strand on pitch and flip and 4 strand on casting jigs and such. 

I prefer using Power Pro when it comes to braid. Berkley Big Game for mono. I catch big bass and other big fish on a consistent basis. If it aint broke dont fix it.

Sometimes doing a google search of bassresource.com actually reveals

more info than an actual forum search....

If you have some spare change, get a couple/few spools of 4 and 8 strand

braided lines and test them out for those techniques.

I use original Power Pro for the 2 braid techniques I throw. 

(Frog and punching) and have no complaints.

My crank/jerk/spinner/buzz/chatter reel is getting 20# Power Pro Original

 

My spinning reels get Mono or FC.

I have tried several and Power Pro has always been the best.

No such thing as "the best," but I only spool with 832 and regular PP, everything from 3# up to 65#. Does everything I need 'well enough.'

Just the opposite. Four strand is better for heavy weeds & cover & eight strand is better for open water casting. 

I’ve taken a liking to Hercules Braid, available on eBay. But I use all braids, suffix, powerpro, Berkeley, spider, fire. The main thing for me is does the color match. I have never had a line failure issue with any line.

Daiwa j braid x4 is my favorite braid.

I got some mustad 65 lb braid years ago and its still on my big reels. It's hard to break, had to get creative to snap the lure off without losing all my line a time or two 

Out of maybe a dozen brands I've yet to try ANY of the 4 carrier and 8 carrier PE braids that was really all that different when to comes to how they effect actual bait presentation or retrieval of fish....Even the kast-kingy/piscifun/weirdly worded chinesish amazon variants...Original PP may sound a little louder through the guides, but it doesnt cast any worse than say 832 or 8 strand J-Braid. Some feel the different carriers "saw" through cover better or are quieter dragging across a log...By that logic 8 strands are "better" in wood and 4 is "better" in hydrilla... If you see either of those as a benifit more power to you, but I wouldnt over think it.

 

I will say as an FYI - Some reading between the lines should be considered whenever some one mentions how "limp" a braid is. Almost always the diameter for what they call a certain lb test is smaller...Everyone raved about Daiwa Samurai years ago being so supple but few pointed out that Samurai was much thinner than most american market braids in bass sizes...."30lb" Daiwa is the equivalent of 6lb test mono at .25. Original PP is like 8lb mono at .28...No wonder it handles a little different lol. Personally, I know how PP behaves at all its lb test/diameters and use that as a baseline for what to use from other brands.

 

All that said, the best braid TO ME is whats on sale in the right diameter (from a reputable company/source). Ive yet to have any issues that could be blamed on the line in 15 years of using braid. Daiwa, Power pro, P Line, Suffix, Toray, Seagaur, Trilene, etc have all been good to me.  Line and lure helps with bleeding a great deal, but every one Ive used does it. A handful of sharpie colors help as needed.

 

Sunline FX2 is the best braid I've used. By far my favorite.

It's consistently the strongest braid per rating I have ever used. And I love the way it casts.

About 20 years ago I spooled a off shore tuna-Marlin reel with FINS PRT 60 lb green braid to increase the reel capacity to 600 yards for a Cabo trip and was pleasantly surprised how quite the line went through the giudes, no noise. To make a long story short I started using the 60lb FINS braid for my trips to the Cal Delta and Clear lake to fish heavy cover. I have used the 20 year FINS for various trips, it hasn't faded color and still going strong as ever. 60 lb PRT is .015 diameter with polyuerathane coating.

Sunline SX1 on my spinning reels. I cant say enough great things about this line for spinning applications.

 

Original Power Pro for my baitcasting setups. Not saying it's the best, and I haven't tried many other brands. But its been more than reliable for me.

I prefer 832. I have used PP and it fades too fast for my liking. Sufix performance seems to stay stiff a little bit too long. Those are the only ones I have used though.
