Daydreams about bass

Hmmmm. Excuse me, would you like to join us? My wife nudged me. I could detect a slight sarcasm in her voice. We had been invited to a local restaurant by another couple who are friends of my wife's. The waitress had brought menus, and we were all getting ready to order. Yes, I was there physically, but my mind had already drifted away. To a stump filled cove, a spinnerbait arching low over the water, my thumb on my favorite casting reel, putting light pressure on the spool to feather out the cast, then switching hands and clicking the reel into gear for the retrieve. Oh sure I'm here, I said smiling. I realized I had gone into another fishing daydream. I do this all the time. At work, while driving, sometimes even when talking with other people. It's been said that when someone truly loves something, a sport, hobby, or profession, they become obsessed with it, thinking about it all the time. That's what's happened to me. Are you a bass daydreamer? I'd like to hear about it. Also don't be the least bit afraid to admit it. It happens to everyone

Yes. I literally dream about fishing too. Completely obsessed.

My wife compares me to Garth Brooks song Rodeo ?

His eyes are cold and restless

His wounds have almost healed

And she'd give half of Texas
Just to change the way he feels

She knows his love's on Toledo And she knows he's gonna go!

She does her best to hold him
When his love comes to call

But his need for it controls him
And her back's against the wall

And it's So long girl, I'll see you
When it's time for him to go!

I daydream of a quiet lake, a mostly sunny day, slight wind, and bass hitting my lures with abandon.

day and night!

Day dream and dreams at night.  All the time.

All the time, most of the daydreams involve taking my son fishing when he gets a little bit older.

I dont daydream about me actually fishing, per se.  My daydreams are more about the spot within a spot.....or meticulously deconstructing a previous outing....'should have made first pitch to that second branch where it bends in'  or further committing the details of a particular drop off to memory...or, 'next time over that brush pile, I need to remember to try a finesse jig instead of a 3/8'..or....'even though tide current was incoming, the fish were still sitting on that one point facing upstream..gotta remember that'....

To be specific, since I don’t have allot of stuff my mind thinks about getting gear. Yeah I’m that guy, I can’t even help it. It’s all about what my next set up is. I just got a new rod and I’m waiting for bps trade in for the reel and I’m already past it wondering what I want next. It’s awfull. Buying gear and baits is it’s own hobbie and addiction in the off season. Now trying to make my own baits has consumed me, hopefully it will curb some of the other stuff. I’ll put up a pic of my first finished product later tonight.

All the time.  Mostly it involves future trips, which days would be best based on weather forecasts (from 4 different weather sites) and what I anticipate the fish to be doing.  When driving, I will look at undeveloped areas, imagine them filled with water and try to figure out where & how to fish them at the current time of year.

Recently, I keep running through my head the pro's & cons of as well as exactly how to add a front deck to my Pond Prowler.  I don't even know if I really want a raised deck, but now that the idea is there, it is bouncing around like a pinball under the control of Tommy, the deaf, dumb & blind kid.

I drive around working all day. I pass ponds continually, dozens of them every day. I often wonder if that one has anything in it or not, what bait looks like it would work there , whether or not Id get run off or mugged ( depending on what part of town Im in )  if I tried fishing it , where to park, etc. Sometimes, the daydream turns into reality !☺

I'm glad I don't have that problem. Some doctor diagnosed me with C.F.D. or Compulsive Fishing Disorder. I told him he didn't know what he was talking about.

Brad Paisley hit it on the head.

Well I love her
And I love to fish
I spend all day out on this lake
And hell is all I catch
Today she met me at the door
Said I would have to choose
If I hit that fishin' hole today
She'd be packin' all her things
And she'd be gone by noon
Well I'm gonna miss her
When I get home
But right now I'm on this lake shore
And I'm sittin' in the sun
I'm sure it'll hit me
When I walk through that door tonight
That I'm gonna miss her
Oh, lookie there, I've got a bite

My wife and me have an understanding. I keep up with the honey do's , and when I want to go fishing, she doesnt complain. Great way to live.

But I still love that Brad paisley song !

Usually leads to me being on BPS' website during lectures. Its bad. Probably explains why my PB is twice my GPA.

Trying to stay focused on finishing a graduate thesis knowing that once I graduate I've got a few weeks off in May (primetime in WI) before starting work. It's torture.

Sorry Sean, but I seem to daydream about other things and not fishing. ;)

That's what I'm talking about, man.

All day, every day...On my breaks or slow times at work, I'm always working on more important stuff ;).  Many, many fish have been caught thanks to my day-dreaming!

Geez, with all these country songs about gals leaving, and not understanding the fishing thing I'm glad I don't have a wife or girlfriend....but I do have a husband who in the words of Justin Moore...Can't Bait a Hook!

On the up side, he also doesn't care how much tackle I buy, and he would never dream of interrupting a perfectly wonderful bass filled dream of any kind.?
