What do you guys use to cut braid, like the tag end when you tie on a lure or a leader?

Rapala superline scissors.

Boomerang Line Cutters are my favorite tool for the job

I use a pair of side cutters. They also double as hook cutters, toenail clippers and, of all things, wire cutters.

Scissor, nail clippers, knife or whatever's available ?

After trying Fiskars scissors, electronic side cutters, nail clippers and anything else I had around and never getting a clean cut...broke down and got a pair of Boomerangs - they work great.

Boomerangs work great for braid but dull if you cut other lines with them.  I try to cut braid with the tips of mine and all other lines with the back of the blades, it really seems to help.

Hmmm...I'm just the reverse. I cut braid with the back, mono and FC with the tips.

I only use braid and my go to cutter is the Boomerang. Scissors work fine, but I like to keep my tools attached to me so I never have to look for them. When I hang scissors from a retractor, they always open up and I wind up getting poked. The Boomerang cuts well and comes with a retractor cable built in.

Definitely picking up a pair of those! I've got a pair of 'Boomerang' retractable line cutters, but they have gotten fairly dull. Thanks!

I use scissors, but I have to have tension on the braid when I cut it, or the tip of the braid frays. This is a challenge when you have a short tag end.

boomerangs for me.  too easy to lose braid scissors especially when kayak fishing.  have one for my boat tackle box, one for my shore backpack and one attached to my kayak PFD.  haven't experience any dulling myself but even if I did they are cheap enough to replace

I’d think most of us have a pocketknife in our tackle box, if not in our pocket. In my opinion, a pocketknife works great, rarely leaves random strands of fibers and I don’t need to spend the money looking for something better. I’ve got a multiple pairs of fingernail clippers in my pocket as well for fluorocarbon and mono. This was after the dentist asked what I’ve been chipping my front teeth on and I told him it was fluorocarbon fishing line...

I use to do the same thing . LOL

 

I carry three knives . A Swiss Army knife , A knife that clips in  the front  pocket that opens with one hand and a Leatherman that opens with one hand .They are  all  kept razor sharp .

A sharp pocket knife.

 

Mustad KVD snips.  They die after about a year of use.  But they've worked well.

Pitbull cutters.  They have serrated edges and really do cut cleaner than even Fiskars kid scissors (go-to before these).  Have no idea about longevity.

Kitchen Shears from Walmart. They're $.98 and they'll cut all kinds of line, packaging, bait (for multi-species guys like myself), even thin wire. When I drop them in the lake like I always eventually do, I buy another pair. A nice bonus is they fit perfectly into the molded in tool holder in my boats console. 

I use the Ozark Trail braid scissors from Walmart.  They are cheap and have a lanyard to put around my neck so I don't have to look for them all the time.  If they get dull I just go buy another pair, since they are so cheap.

To cut braid I use the Rigrap Ceramax Super Cutters. They are scissors with ceramic blades that are designed specifically to cut braided line with no fraying. They work great. Right now they are on sale on DSG website for $5.
