Good Info ~

A-Jay

Poison Ivy and me have had a long history.

I've already had it twice this year.

I used to work winters for a tree company.

One year we cut down a tree with ivy growing all down the trunk.

One of the older guys said you gotta take the dishwasher thing and scrub the ivy off.

Then use something like bleach to kill it off.

I took one of those green scrub pads and went to town scrubbing my arms up and down.

Only had floral scented bleach but said screw it.

2 days later I had poison ivy all up and down my forearms along with the skin tore up from scrubbing.

Next idiot move.... gasoline

I figured this would dry up the poison ivy so I poured it over both arms

2 days later and I go to the doctor

My forearms swelled to Popeye proportions, turned a bright pink and extremely painful.

So they give me a steroid shot and treat me for chemical burn on my arms

Seems like I choose to learn lessons the hard way, dont be like me

Also old timer with the tree company said he was talking about a sponge not the green scotch pad #headslap

Last time I had it, had to go to the ED and get a shot to help me breath.  I don't even think I was in contact with any weeds.

My cousin burned a bunch of vines and he ended up in the ER also from breathing the smoke

I'm not exactly sure where I came in contact.  Always been pretty sensitive to the stuff.  Identifying the plant and avoiding it has been my BEST way to avoid getting a rash.

I wish I could do that, it grows all over my yard and I can’t just let it get bigger and bigger. We have a symbiosis going on the last decade or so. I always have it but it has yet to kill me . When I was younger it almost got me a time or two

I don't have major issues with Poison but sure do struggle mightily with Chiggers.

My brother and wife can walk through the exact same area and NOTHING......I look like I've been shot with 12 gauge.

Sorry for veering off a little.

You should go all Monsanto on that stuff!

If I remember right Bayer makes some brush kill (I believe it’s called) and that stuff will kill almost anything. I found it a Tractor Supply.

Been to the ED in respiratory distress due to poison ivy several times. Almost had to be intubated due to it once. I hate the stuff.

Outstanding!

Thank you so much for posting this video.

I have all three types of poison ivy at my house and I saw it today in the yard.

Now I know what to do.

Very grateful for the information.

I sprayed roundup for weeks at one point. I’m glad I don’t have lymphoma.

Never had a reaction before until I hit it with a weedwacker while barefoot wearing shorts.
but........

The worst I ever had was when fishing. Wife was ticked I went before going camping. I made one last cast and hooked a bush and didn’t pay attention. Unhooked lure, pulled boat away from shore and stopped to take a leak. Yep you guessed it. Broke out on hands and di#k. Went camping in 95° hot n humid weather. My wife didn’t touch me for months

First time I got it was weed whacking a field in shorts. Where I got hit with rocks and debris and got a cut I got a little of it here and there. Got it on my ankle this time last year climbing through rugged terrain covered in vines. The branches scraped my ankle because I had the socks that only cover my feet on that day. Got it in the scratch from the bare vines. Without a scrape or scratch, I don’t get it.

Lucky you! I get now just walking near it. I usually get it 2-3 times a year in my own yard

I know two people (brothers) that get it just from being around it at certain points of the season.
