To fish?? Or not to fish.. ??

Featured Replies

Soo I finally got my trolling motor installed , the minn Kota ultrex ! And a couple other upgrades.. so I’m supposed to go pick it up tomorrow morning. I obviously am super excited about getting it and getting to try it out on the water.  My question is.. I can use a PTO day and fish Friday! Or just suck it up and wait till Saturday... the issue is today is a high Of 62 and rain, so warmer rain. And tomorrow is 55 with a 40% chance of rain.. would this hurt or help the fishing? Or would it not matter at all. This weekend looks promising with 62 degree and sunny/cloudy days. Just really want to try the new motor and rip some lips! Guess I’m trying to justify or not justify taking the day off haha ?

My answer? Do what you want.

My opinion? Save the PTO for when/if it's needed - you never know when it might be handy to have. "Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it."

I get 3 weeks of it ... but that is smart thinking

That's a serious equipment upgrade.

I'd be anxious to try it out so I vote....take Friday off and get on the water.

Cold and wet doesn't work for me.

You southern boys acting like 50's is cold.  55 - I would be fishing in shorts and flip flops.

For me it's not the temp...it's the rain. Rain and a canoe don't really match well.

Last year we had two blizzards in Tennessee. One of these storms dumped neatly 1/4" of snow!

Right haha 55 is warm for us in New York and I have good rain gear so rain won’t bother me.

55 and a 40% chance of rain if go no doubt. Also I'm a northern guy.. 55 is not cold even with the rain..not even close. And tho I agree it's smart to save PTO sometimes a guy just needs some time off. I myself work a rotating schedule and took a pto day today...I get a 4 day weekend and get to spend the day with my girlfriend.

Last but not least I will add that  went Monday when it was sunny and 65 and caught 11 dinks. Went Tuesday when it was windy with some rain and a high of 60ish...caught 12 including 3 quality fish.

So this rain might actually make them active.. and I would love a 3 day weekend lol

Depends on wind for me. Calm over cast day would get the green light. Breezy day may just go to work.

See I know @roadwarrior is teasing - they get snow in TN.

Now if @Catt had said that...I might believe he was serious.

Rain and winds over 10MPH keep me off the water. Sit in kayak here.

Chance of thunderstorms as well in these parts Friday. The weekend looks much better for me.
