Shallow cranks

I'm not a huge crankbait guy but do use them from time to time. And I recognize the fish catch ability they have. What are your favorite shallow cranks? Let's say 4ft or less...I ask since I fish from shore and don't have access to deep water

Above and beyond all others, the Rapala CRR-5 Crankin' Rap squarebill. It's discontinued, but you can still get some off the auction site.  Although I use the Bomber 13A as a twitchbait, I've also had good luck with it on a steady retrieve. And then there's the 1/2 oz. 3' Storm Arashi Shad squarebill. It's quite a ways down on my list compared to the others, but it works.      jj

Bandits, bombers, and shad raps

Not glamorous or flashy, and not a squarebill...

But I find it hard to beat a floating Rapala Original in shallow water from shore.

The original original black and silver and white is awesome.

I like a size 9 or 11.

Also a deadly and subtle topwater - fished in short jerks in calm conditions.

I need to get back to doing this more too.

IMA Bill Lowen Squarebill crankbait

Run nicely at 2 ft, so a tad deeper than a Mann's 1 Minus https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/brandhardbaits.html?from=basres. Both are good options with different actions if a shallow floating minnow isn't interestening to them.

Really is hard to pick a favorite and to tell you the truth I wouldn’t really want to tell anyone what my favorites are but a couple of must haves or Honorable mentions would have to be a Rapala DT6, Bomber 6A, and the Mann’s baby minus preferably the older models but the new ones work just fine. Theses three are must have baits for the bank fisherman.

My absolute favorite has to be the old Xcalibur now Booyah XCS100.

Bomber Square A - Affordable and never lets me down.

Mann’s minus one and baby minus one. I’ve used them for years in ponds and always had good luck.

Lots of good choices given. Rebel makes good crankbaits as well.

I'm not a crankbait guy either but have had some luck with bps egg  shallow cranks.

I've heard a lot of good words about that lure from some old fishing buddies who are now retired. I don't know whether it's the lure or the fact that they can now devote all the time to fishing that they want. I do know one thing, though; nobody I know, young or old, talks bad about this lure.     jj

I've fished lipless crankbaits from shore a lot with no issue, mainly 1/4oz and 1/2oz Rat-L-Traps and Cordell Super Spots. Strike King KVD 1.0s and 1.5s are also good.

Bandit 100

A mighty mite

I like the Bomber Square A & Bandit 100, the only bad thing about the Bomber is the hook quality. I replace the trebles on them new out of the box which isn't a big deal for me. I buy trebles in bulk so I'm adding a very minor cost into the bait.

Agree and they are also the cheapest.

Agreed Teeny Wee R in Brown Craw, Chartruse/White & Fire Tiger

Fished so many different baits shallow and the best two in my neck of the woods are Megabass griffon and the discontinued Lucky Craft CB zero.
