Hammered with multiple rounds of heavy rain here today. To the southeast there was multiple tornado warnings and hail, to the northwest there’s snow.

Wild March weather for sure.

The main part of the lake is OPEN! Our part and the route to the main part is blocked. We’re making progress. I saw another lake that was completely open and others over 50% open.

It's Minnesota - it's typical weather for us in March.

The channel that feeds my lake is open now and creeping in to the main part of the lake. I have high expectations for the melting today. I’ve seen a few golf course ponds fully open today in my travels.

I need to get my ? in a group and order my other Garmin, get reels cleaned and lubed, organize more tackle I’ve acquired since the last time I organized tackle that I acquired, spool up a reel I recently bought. The list goes on.

Yeah, I feel like I am against the clock now.

Way more fun to be right in the middle of.

Although 10-15 ft was my favorite 'training' wave size.

Can't believe they paid me for that.

I would have done it for free.

C.G. - running through 'insane' waves is part of the job description.

That smell isn't my fault though.

Ice is gone here on all the ponds including the big one. Not sure about my regular stomping grounds.

73* yesterday and 60* today. Waters are opening up. Next few days are 40*'s with 2 overnight lows in the teens.

We're gaining on it

So true. Boat dealers can't even keep a used inventory.

Despite mostly sunny skies today, occasionally breezy winds up to 25 mph

will make otherwise near to slightly above normal temperatures feel a bit cooler than that.

But The Good News is . . . .

american-robin-perching-in-snow-storm-tim-fitzharris.jpg

We had our First Robin sighting of 2021 !

There's always a dozen or so pairs making nests in the fur trees around the house each spring.

May not be the earliest we've seen them up here

but a Great Sign either way.

37 Days and a Wake Up.

No robins here yet, but I expect some any day now. Half our yard is grass again. We have had a bunch of red winged blackbirds at the feeder, they’re usually our first true sign of warmer days to come. Also heard some geese at the lake yesterday. Things are slowly looking up.

It’s been so nice seeing the birds come back. We’ve had geese which there are plenty of resident geese in this area, ducks, plenty of song birds out singing, and we’ve even seen the muskrat out swimming along our shore. We’ve even seen some San hill cranes out and about. It’s a breath of fresh air seeing and hearing all these critters.
